I was a little uncomfortable, as there was a group of homeless people sitting and laying down right next to the food truck. Because of this, I just wanted to grab my food and go. The food took about 15 mins to finish and we were out of there. They did have tomato sauce, as well as garlic aoli sauce, free to take as much as you want. I ordered the White Lady, which is one of their signature burgers. It had a beef patties, Scotch steak, Colby cheese, bacon, fried egg, grilled pineapple, fried onions, lettuce, and tomato. It sounded like a ton of ingredients, but I figured I had to try their namesake burger. I had taken my food back to my hotel, which was only about a 10-15 minute walk back. Understandably, the burger was a bit soggy. That wasn't the worst part though. My main gripe with this burger though, was the Scotch steak. It was probably my fault for not entirely knowing what a Scotch steak was. The steak was chewy and I was NOT able to bite it off each time I took a bite of the burger. After a couple bites struggling to separate the steak from the rest of the burger, I ended up just taking the steak out and eating it with a fork and knife. I cannot understand why you would put something on a burger if it cannot be bitten off solely with your teeth. It goes against the point of having something handheld. On top of that, the steak was very bland. The burger patties itself was okay, nothing amazing. I come from the United States, the home of fatty foods and the best burgers, so maybe I just have high standards. For me, this place was a one and done just to see what the hype was about.

Shortly after placing my order, I turned to grab a seat and the line was OUT OF THE DOOR with zombies, corpses (dead zombies), vamps, and other various characters. The dead get hungry too, I suppose. As this was my first visit, I decided to order the largest burger on the menu (the Bastard) as a Low Carborator, which is nice because bread tends to get in my way when I eat. The Bastard is a grass-fed beef patty with cheese, avocado, mango, and beetroot, and the Low Carborator version nixes the bun for a lettuce wrap. Whilst this makes for a tad bit of messy eating, they include special boxes so that your burger patty doesn't go anywhere when you bite into it. So juicy. Soooo tender. Almost made me wish I ate bread (struggling Paleo). I also ordered a side of kumara fries, because burgers and fries just go hand in hand. I believe these were the purple kumara fries, as opposed to the typical orange kumara you see in most restaurants. The difference, I noticed, is that the purple kumara (which turns yellow once you cook it) tends to be more substantial in taste, almost heavy tasting. All in all, tasty burger joint, but I will have to come back and try their vegetarian onslaught, which include tasty looking bits made of pumpkin, chickpeas, ginger, and other goodies.

My favourite burger is the bacon backfire and the fries are crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and delicious dipped in their creamy aioli. The general staff set up is normally the same (students needing to pay off large debt), and the restaurants all look the same. Plus service is generally good... The Burger Fuel in Windsor Park is close to home, so when I do get take-aways, this is often my first choice. What I like about this particular Burger Fuel, is that the staff are in a constant buzz, and it really does appear like bees in a hive. They zoom in to the grill and away to the customer, then to the chip station and away to hand over someone's order. It is almost mesmerizing. You feel okay to wait, when you see how these guys operate, it is a smooth running operation, and the food is always perfect.
