0 stars- customer service 5 stars- haircut I believe in fair reviews. The stylist's skills are commendable, but the service was deplorable. 2 things could have tainted this experience 1) I used a Groupon, 2) I have curly hair. I made an appointment and arrived on time. I was treated fairly and cordially up until I informed Vance that I had a Groupon, then her entire demeanor changed. I heard her yell at the receptionist for booking a Groupon appointment for her services. She tried to ask one of the other stylists to work on my hair, but they were unavailable. She was obviously bothered and made it clear she didn't take Groupon appointments. Her comments from then on were demeaning. In hindsight, I should have left once I felt uncomfortable, but she had already washed my hair and I felt odd. To make matters worse, she mistreated my curls and suggested I straighten my hair more often. All in all, the cut looks good, but the experience was terrible & I won't be going back. read more

Vance is the only person I trust with my hair. I've been going to her for a few years now and she has NEVER given me a bad cut! I have very thick hair and the places I have tried in the past have never been able to work around it, but when I went to her she gave me a great Bob that didn't make me look like Dora. I went based on a recommendation, and I will never go back. Not only did I wait over an hour past my appointment time, but my hair was cut way shorter than I wanted it, not layered the way I wanted it, and not really colored the way I wanted it. Charisma Salon hates curly hair!! I have natural curly hair. I met Vance before she had her own salon when she was at Visible Changes/Baybrook. That was around 2011 I think. I told her up front I had curly hair, to please cut it to curl. I even showed her pictures. She said no problem. Then she gave me very a good color job, a basic trim, and gave me a blow out. lol. I liked her color skills and stayed with her until last month. That's a long time to keep a stylist exclusively. I tried for years to get Vance to give me a hair cut that would define my curls and every single time she gave me a blow out. That's fun every now and then, but who has time to spend hours torturing your hair into straight as a board hair every day? If it rains, or if it's hot like Houston is 10 months out of the year, you don't have a blow out, you have frizz and curls once you walk out the door. I don't think she has a clue what to do with curly hair! If you have straight hair, she is your go-to! Curly hair does not stand a chance there. I even asked her to learn how to cut my curls, but to no avail. I agree with some of the other reviewers here that customer service is everything. This is a high priced salon, not many amenities for that price, maybe she could spring some cash for some decent champagne and various non alcoholic drinks instead of only bottled water. If you want a soda, bring your own. I kept hoping with the price increases over the years she would upgrade her hospitality, but alas, that is seriously lacking. Curly hair beware! read more
