Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility has proven to me to be a "dis"organization, with…read moreVery poor communication skills ( which is sad for a company that is based on trying to improve communications abilities for their patients, and that has the word communication in it ). And I have also learned recently that there has been a history of abuse and " inappropriate " conduct from upper management towards their staff. I was a very " patient " patient of 2 locations for over 2 years while seeking help for my moderate hearing loss, very severe tinnitus, and very severe hyperacusis. My first experience was with an audiologist at the Willow street location P----- is a TRT trained audiologist and she seemed eager to help me, but she continually very abruptly spoke over the top of my answer to every question that she asked me which caused me unnecessary confusion and stress. And the receptionist at the same clinic, S---- R---- made her interactions with me very inappropriately personal in nature in the ways that she would ask me questions about my choices in audiology care that were meant to be strictly between myself and the audiologist. On top of that, P----- ( the audiologist I tried to work with ) decided to quit the organization without providing myself, and her management, any notice. In the last hour of her last day of work with Wavefront she emailed me to let me know that she was resigning that day and that I should work with someone else. I later learned from one of her colleagues that there was dozens of other Wavefront Center for Communication Accessibility audiologists and administration staff that quit the organization in a sort of " mass exodus " as, apparently there were multiple reports of derogatory verbal abuse and " inappropriate " conduct from the CEO and management to some of their audiologists and admin team. Now, after I spoke with the new CEO, h---, on the phone, I was granted an expedited appt with the last remaining TRT trained audiologist at the head office in Mount Pleasant, G----. However when the appt time came I arrived to learn that she works with a student present during every appt with her patients. I can understand that she does this to help the organization to train new audiologists, but it is definitely not appropriate to not notify each patient of this beforehand. ( I was told by the reception that my appt was with ' G---- ' and no one else. ) When I asked G----- why and asked that my hearing test be done with just her she said " No. "I said " I was not told that by you or the admin staff or the CEO, so can you explain why, G----? " And she said " No, I do not think that I have to explain that to you. Would you like to proceed? " So, I thought that was actually very ignorant of G----. I finished my updated hearing test as it was needed to get my new in-ear tinnitus masker / hearing aid devices from the organization. I told the new CEO, h---- what I experienced and he agreed with me that I should have been notified that beforehand. The devices I waited over a year for were finally ordered and finally arrived. When at the head office for the fitting, excited to finally have my new tinnitus maskers the male audiologist, named n---, greeted me. While walking down a rather long hallway to the appt room, nick asked me " how has your day been so far? " which I answered. Yet he chose to ask me the same question 2 more times. Strange. I then asked for the appt room door to be closed, for privacy, focus and because of distracting audio and visuals in the hallway. The audiologist said no. The appt room doors were always closed at their other location, so I told him and the CEO so. I was then informed by the CEO that they could not accommodate that and that they will no longer be able to help me. If I were them, I would be offering me the same appt at a different clinic, and I suggested that to him and have received no response from the CEO I am considering filing a lawsuit against Wavefront Center for these reasons.

They are a nonprofit organization, so they don't have an ulterior motive. They test your hearing, fix your existing hearing aids, and also lend you replacements, while yours are in getting repaired. I bought new hearing aids from them, I have never been as pleased as I am with my new pair. I can turn them up and down myself. I also got them custom fitted into my ear canal. What a huge difference, in hearing. When you can't hear, and you go to a hearing aid company, you are at their mercy to how much or how little help you will get. I highly recommend Wavefront Centre for Communications . I don't think you'll be disappointed!

With many helping volunteers, the facility is home to over 40 non-releasable birds, as they all had been injured through traffic accidents, flying into power lines, poisoned by toxic food source etc. If you are joining their Tour you will learn of all the stories each of the bird brings. Annually, the society helped Raptor patients number over 700!! They include spices of : Eagles, falcons, hawks, ospreys, owls & vultures! During our visit kindly arranged by our good friend Frank ( has been a volunteer for over 6 yrs ), we were able to visit the behind the scene facilities, and I was particularly impressed with all the work the volunteers are doing; cleaning all the habitats, preparing meals, helping with training the birds for educational purposes during school visits etc. The society received donations from individual & cooperate alike. I am attaching their website for more information regarding Tours for the public and ways to contribute to this very meaningful cause!! And of course donations too! https://www.owlrehab.org

    * What a great way to get out of downtown and avoid the Olympic madness! *…read more Ok, I finally figured out a positive for the Olympics (they are far and few between!). It encouraged us to get out of town and explore some of the surrounding areas that have a lot to offer. This weekend we visited O.W.L. It is a nonprofit wildlife rescue organization that specializes in helping injured birds of prey. They help a few hundred birds a year, and as part of their efforts they also give free tours to encourage awareness. They didn't seem to focus on having the tour even generate donations as we had to seek out a way to make a donation to help the very worthy cause. We saw about 20 birds, including snowy owls, great horn owls, red-tailed hawks, golden eagles, bald eagles, peregrine falcons, and turkey vultures among others. The tour guide was really knowledgeable, and was able to give a background on each bird's story. The birds each have a name based on something about their character. Perhaps the most interesting backstory was the barred owl named Demon. Demon flew into a high rise building and got brain damage. When get gets angry and flies at someone he does so with his head upside down! Thankfully he was happy when we were there - but I can entirely understand the name! Perhaps the cutest were the snowy owls. Piggy (and yes another is named kermit) was doing this gaping mouth movement that entirely made him look like a cartoon character. You could never tell he had been hit by an airplane 18 years ago! The society helps heal the birds and releases those that can survive back into the wild. But there is a permanent group of "education birds" who would not be able to survive in the wild. The society gives them a permanent home and takes good care of them. This is a lovely excursion and a great way to spend an hour or two marveling at these wonders of nature. They were the perfect remedy to the Olympic invasion, and I thank the Olympics for encouraging us to get out of town and explore the surrounding areas!

Items with tags still attached, better brands etc. Imagine my surprise to see that this was not the case. I saw George, Joe Fresh, Old Navy, Shein .... Shit that is priced higher then when it was originally sold ! Also the quality is not great. Looks like things that should be donated - then priced at 3/4$ .. And if you are looking to Donate so you can get your 20% off coupon .. not going to happen here!! They do NOT take donations..... Finally the store itself it small and cramped. Dimly lit especially downstairs .... This was my first visit impressions. I will give it another chance. If things have changed I will update this review. We shall see ....

They do have some shoes, books, records, handbags and a few other knick knacks but by and large, "premium brand clothing" is the boutique's bread and butter. Once in awhile you may find something nice here - lucky you - however, the price will reflect it. Nike or Adidas on the label? Get your chequebook out! Mec or Zara? Prepare to pay through the nose. For my money, this takes all the fun out of going to the thrift store. You're there to find a treasure at a bargain price, and that just does not happen here. Certainly, they could improve the layout - the aisles are narrow, and congested, the staff disinterested. I will not be going out of my way to return here. It's unfortunate that this is now one of only two Value Villages left in Vancouver - the Victoria drive location is sadly missed.
