Huntington had been a good experience. I chose them after perusing reviews on line. It also didn't hurt that they were offering $100 to open an account (as were many other banks). Their online bill payment took some getting used to, and I have had no issues with them. This bank is small enough to still treat you like a person. And when I did something dopey, I made a deposit after hours at their ATM using another bank's deposit slip, they called to see if I really wanted the money in their bank. Banks are a fact of life. You can't live without them. But Huntington makes it more bearable.

I had to change banks when I moved out of my home state. It makes sense to have a bank that is all over the United States but I miss the personal experience you receive from the smaller banks. I hate depositing large amounts of bills in the atm because it only takes 75, honestly the counter in back is no better , it's seems cheap and always gets jammed. If I have to make a special trip, a real pain in the ass. Second, their policies really suck. They advetise no-fee Master Card gift cards so I go in to buy a couple for some greatnephews Christmas presents. Oh, the gift cards are kept in the vault and two employees have to enter the vault to get them. But they only had two employees on duty and one was on some sort of extended phone call, actually several phones. After waiting no less than 20 minutes, I say "Fudge it" and walk out. I also deposit a fairly small check I get each month for tenants that are leasing my house back in God's Country. A measley $1150 check, but (I am not exaggerating) it takes at least 5 minutes to do a simple deposit. They have to call up the account and carefully scan over all the details. Then, if it is just a regular teller, I am told "This is over my limit, I need to get approval." Then the manager or asst manager has to walkover, he too has to carefully scan my account, and then finally my deposit is approved. Geez. Third, their ATMs are throwbacks to the 1990's with no deposit capabilities, but that is probably due to their restrictive deposit policies. Fourth, their hours suck. Yeah, they are open on Saturdays and Sundays, but so? And the last straw was when I was told a 7 day hold was going to be put on a bonus check from my employer because "you've never made a deposit this large." What a sucky penny ante bank. Hell, I could just mail it to the real bank that I use for the majority of my banking. What a waste of space Woodforest is.

The application process at this Bank was easy enough but when the appraisal came in less than what I purchased my home for (a month prior) that should have been my first sign. And then the fine print that you need to keep a checking account open with a minimum balance of $2,500. Annoying, but fine. Over the last year honestly it's been fine as I've had no interaction with the bank but their website user interface is absolutely horrid. I stopped in today to get some additional checks (as they told me to do when I signed up) and they tell me "You have to do it yourself via the customer service line."... There were about 6 people working with no customers, and I asked if they could order for me and got a rather curt "No" in response. I've always heard good things about Dollar Bank and their great rates and local feel, but they haven't done anything to win the rest of my business.
