I paid approximately $40,000 for what was supposed to be a straightforward renovation removing one wall and shelving, painting, relocating doors, and building closets. The job was not finished. They walked off site without completing the agreed scope and did not return any portion of the money.
The workmanship was careless throughout. They painted over unsanded plaster and visible spackle. Newly installed doors were misaligned. Paint was splattered across finished wood floors. Kitchen cabinets were painted without finishing the interiors. Floors were left completely unprotected during the remainder of construction, resulting in additional damage. My building's hallways were marked and damaged during debris removal because nothing was properly protected.
The site itself was chaotic and filthy. Construction dust covered everything. Food waste was left behind. Subcontractors used my guest bathroom like a public rest stop, pouring paint and debris down the sink. It looked less like a professional job site and more like a war zone.
Despite a firm move-in deadline, most days there were only two workers present. Jacky openly told me he pays subcontractors $270 per day. Based on the crew size and duration I observed relative to the $40,000 paid, the gross margin on this project was approximately 70 percent! The output did not remotely justify that level of markup.
When it became clear they would not meet the deadline, the response was not accountability. It was aggressive yelling. I was shouted at, at close range, in front of other people, and blamed for their delays. Every time I calmly pointed out documented deficiencies, I was talked over, interrupted, and dismissed. I was told, "You don't understand construction," in a condescending tone. The volume, posture, and proximity were intimidating. It was not a normal disagreement. It was sustained, aggressive yelling directed at a woman who was simply asking why the work was incomplete and substandard.
I have never been spoken to that way by anyone I was paying, and certainly never in my own home. Instead of correcting mistakes, they deflected and escalated. Instead of addressing documented issues, they attacked the client.
An architect reviewed the work daily and issued written correction lists. The deficiencies were objective and documented. They were not properly addressed.
They are polished during the sales process. Once paid, the standards collapse. The negative reviews I saw afterward are accurate.
I would not hire them again under any circumstances.
