We enjoyed an excellent pizza and glass of wine after arriving in Bruges and settling into our hotel. The waiter was friendly and helpful.

My family and I went to Carlito's looking for a nice dinner on vacation. We walked in, and the place looked very nice. However, we were greeted by a man who told us he had no seating in this room but did next door. We were then shoved through a side door into a grundy bar (I assume Charlie rockets). This place was the complete opposite ambiance of Carlito's, so we were not having it. We went back into Carlito's, and they magically found a table. The rest of the service was incredible slow and not super friendly. I only gave it two stars because the food was good. Go here at your own discretion. read more

We had a very nice meal in this attractively whitewashed Italian Café. Between my husband and me, we enjoyed Scallopine Piccata, Tagliatelle with Truffles and a Salad. The only thing to beware of is to ask the prices. Our waiter asked if he could bring us some garlic bread which turned out to be 6 small pieces of bread brushed with garlic butter, and which cost 7.50 euros!!! read more

Truly enjoyed our dinner tonight. They were very welcoming when we arrived and seated quickly at a table. The service was great and very helpful going over the various options. Ed had the risotto funghi and Tagliatelle with mushrooms and a special tomato/vodka sauce. Both came out very hot which I love and they were both exceptional! Atmosphere is great for families and the pizza looked pretty amazing. Recommend you try when visiting Bruges! read more

Great hostel with a bar underneath. Super attractive staff that helped us check in, but gave us slightly confusing directions to our room...which led to unnecessarily getting lost through the narrow passageways. The bathroom in the room was kind of janky so we opted out of that. Centrally located and a great place to meet travelers. read more

We ate dinner at Carlitos on June 26, 2018. The service was great! The two gentlemen that served us were so nice and hospitable. They were patient and answered our questions about the menu items that weren't in English. They checked on us often. The food was excellent! It was the best meal we ate during our 4 days in Bruges. If we would have gone when we first got to Bruges, we would have gone back. I had pasta carbonara with shrimp. It was so good! My friend had risotto with shrimp and mushrooms. It was the best I've ever tasted! I highly recommend this restaurant. When I go back to Bruges, I will go back to Carlito's! read more

Great pizza at Carlito's with a friendly English speaking crew. We order'd takeaway here twice during our stay, the minestrone soup was incredible as is the pasta. Great selection of wine with the full bar menu. Carlito's dinning area is next to Charlie's and has a more relaxed authentic vibe. read more

Great bar, great Italian food. Carlitos was full, but you can go sit in Charlie Rockets and order off the same menu. Right in the middle of Old Brugge, walking distance to most things. I had the beef tenderloins in Gorgonzola sauce and cleaned my plate. A little on the pricey side, but worth it. read more

We ate at Carlito's the last night we were in Bruges as suggested in Rick Steves' book. It is a super cute restaurant and was bustling and busy. My only complaint really is that we were seated and then nobody came to help us for a very long time. We were debating whether we should leave or not, since it seemed like they didn't want our money. The table next to us were also Americans and we could hear them also complaining. We joked with them that maybe this is just the Belgian way? I finally had to wave at a server so we could order our food and she was very apologetic. I don't think she even knew that someone else had seated us. Our food also took a very long time to come out, but all in all, the food was good. Can't really go wrong with Italian food, I guess. We had the carbonara and the calzone and both were excellent. read more

Great choice for Italian food in Bruges! Very friendly staff, cute and cozy atmosphere, excellent food. Came here on Rick Steves recommendation and were not disappointed. We had both bruschetta and caprese as appetizers and they were great and would have been enough for four people to share. We should have split a main dish because the portions were huge! I had the chicken and mushroom tagliatelle and my friend had the carbonara tagliatelle. Both were excellent but we couldn't finish them ( should not have ordered two appetizers, I guess). This place was centrally located AND it's above a bar. Surprisingly, it was also not at all noisy despite this. The staff were incredibly friendly and the bar was a great place to hang out and chat up other travelers...especially the cute ones. ;) If you have to do the hostel thing (and really, what the hell), this one was very reasonably priced and clean. The hot water was my only issue, but for the price, it probably had to be something! I was traveling on my own and easily recommend for the single ladies doing so. In any event, I'd definitely stay again. If memory serves, you have to get back by 2 or 3 am because they close and no one will be there to let you in...but they open back up around 4 or 5, so eh, it wouldn't be the end of the world! read more

We dined at Carlito's Restaurant earlier this week, based on a recommendation in Rick Steves' guide to Belgium. He was right on the money! Carlito's is a bustling, popular place, with excellent food and a friendly atmosphere. We were seated almost immediately and had an attentive, helpful waiter who spoke passable English help us with the menu. My wife ordered spaghetti carbonara, which was made with chopped ham (rather than bacon as is common elsewhere). She pronounced it excellent, but the generous serving was too much for her to finish. I had a daily special -- gnocchi with mixed seafood. It was also excellent, with abundant seafood that tasted fresh, accompanied by a tomato-based spicy sauce. The gnocchi themselves were just the right texture -- slightly doughy and not at all rubbery (as they can be in some poor quality restaurants). We each had a glass of wine from the limited selection -- the wine list caters more for people who want to buy a whole bottle. Being house wine, it was nothing special, but it accompanied the meal quite well. I would call the decor "modern bistro" with simple tables covered in squares of white butcher paper and brightly-painted kitchen chairs. Lots of movement and activity with customers and waiters coming and going all the time -- not a place for a quiet romantic dinner. Overall, a worthwhile experience if you want some hearty, authentic Italian food while visiting Brugge. read more

We've never stayed at the hostel, so this review is just about the attached restaurant 'Carlito's'. Another visit to Carlito's. This time with our family. Again, quick and helpful service. Delicious smells coming from the open kitchen. My husband and I went for pizza, while our parents went for lasagna. All were excellent ! Good house wine too. Great coffee with nougat afterwards. Will come back here again and again ... when we want pizza, this is where we go. Filling and good portions. read more

This was definitely the best place in the city by far!!! All the other restaurants were rude and the food wasn't good but everyone here was wonderful and we left very happy!! I had one of the suggestions and split it with my mom and it was still a tonnnn of food. It had truffle oil on it too which was nice. They get super busy at night, probably cause they're the best. read more

Hostel in Brugge with a large bar downstairs that used to be a movie theater. The prices are reasonable, but the rooms themselves are nothing special - I had higher hopes after checking in through the well put together bar. It's like they forgot to decorate the hostel. "Best minestrone I've ever had," my wife says. Why? No beans and not a lot of spinach. Just chock full of veggies and very good. We each had a carpaccio-- perfectly presented with greens in the middle of the plate and generous Parmesan shavings on top. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar provided so we could dress the greens as we wished. Saw the waiter cut the bread fresh from the loaf just before he brought it to us. Add a glass of red wine and .5 l of a local beer for a total of just under 50€. Generous portions of pasta dishes and various pizzas came to nearby tables. Everyone appeared very satisfied. We had an excellent dinner with great service at La Carlitos! Our party had calamari, all three types of bruschetta, spaghetti bolognese, calzone, and cannelloni (meat & vegetarian) and all of the meals were superb! We lucked out in being able to get a table for 6 without a reservation - likely better to book a table because it is delicious! Our waiter was friendly and attentive. read more

Worst hostel ever.I was bited by bugs on bed. The bathroom and toilet were dirty like a hell. The loud club music downstairs did not stop until 1or 2am. If you have any other choice in this town. I urge you, do not take this one! read more
