How many bars can you find in Paris that are extremely loud and active at night? Probably a lot, and Charlotte Bar is just another one to pile onto the heap. You can find most of the usual elements of bars at this place, but I didn't see how the positive ones were particularly memorable. I guess the first thing that you see here is the many people standing right outside. Like with a lot of bars here, you kind of have to meander through the crowd before going through the entrance. Next, there is a big theme of "red." The front of the building is painted entirely red, making it easily recognizable.
Inside the place, it is very loud and full of people. The walls are covered with paintings, which is a nice touch. But the thing that's going to be most on your mind is the booming music. It is way too loud, and I would say it even made the experience worse. You have been warned. The place is narrow and the tables are small, but the seats are comfortable. There's even a TV at the back, although it wasn't on while I was here. It still probably wouldn't be a good idea to hang around here too long, though. I wouldn't advise staying here any longer than you need to if your sense of hearing is precious to you.
I got a Jägerbomb here and it was a miracle that I didn't accidentally swallow the shot glass inside. Feeling that I was cutting it a little too close, I didn't order any more after that and got out before any other misfortune could fall upon me here. The place would actually be a lot more pleasant if the music were at a bit more tolerable volume. Seriously, this is the loudest bar I have ever visited, and that one bit ruins a possibly otherwise decent place. There is a long happy hour from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, but who is going to stay at this place for six hours? If you do come at all, make sure to do so during their happy hour, quickly get whatever you want, and then leave before your eardrums burst. read more
