During a wee wander in the Marais district (one of my favourite areas in Paris), Lumberjack and I stumbled into the Auld Alliance Scottish Pub. The novelty drew us in, especially since it was a holiday away from good ole Glasvegas. We just HAD to... meh. It had a similar feel to pubs back home... only replace the thick Glaswegian accent with a French one. The pub is quite sports oriented with a pool table, dartboards, and many television screens (to watch big matches, I presume). They offer an extensive selection of whiskies, and many other brews. I will have to say this place is super overpriced. But then again you're in Paris... I know, I know. For 2 drinks, it was over 14€. Both of us scoffed at the IRN-BRU price of €3.50! For those not in the know, it's Scotland's other national drink... in all its neon orange liquid glory. The atmosphere was pretty laid back, but busy. The barmaids were also friendly. They offer a weekday happy hour(s) from 5-8pm. They also serve food at different points in the day. Another highlight is that they do brunch and haggis on the weekend from 12-4pm. Although after paying such high drink prices, and having the real good stuff waiting for us back home, there was no need to come back to try the brunch & haggis. Bottom line: if you're a homesick Scot in Paris, have a deep love of whisky, or willing to pay an exorbitant 3.50€ for IRN-BRU this place is for you!

Great service, and ambiance. Was there on Burns Night, just made sense to go in that evening in Paris.

A genuine UK pub in the heart of Marais. They have a very expansive (and expensive) Scotch Whisky menu, but only a few ales on tap.

We found it and more at Moose!! Moose was a decent walk from the Louvre, about 15-20 minutes. The while walk we said I sure hope it's worth it and it most definitely was!!!! We started with a wonderful greeting when we entered by the manager Aristos. He gaged our interests and asked questions... authentic in his interest in our needs. We ordered a sampler platter....a good way to taste a few different appetizers at once. It included Veggie potstickers, celery, carrots, BBQ wings, and stuffed jalapeños. Just enough of a snack to get us started and hold us off til food came. Thank goodness!! We could all eat a Moose we were so hungry - hahahaha! Wings were amazing and made us feel like we were back home. We ate the meat well off those tiny bones!! Everyone enjoyed the potstickers and the stuffed jalapeños. Of course since we are American, we Loves the BBQ sauce on the wings- sweet and sticky, just like we like it!! The menu was unique. It offered items from hamburgers to a variety of unique poutines like Beef cheek and smoked bacon, just to name a few items. Check out their online menu to see. My sister and I had Poutine, and husbands had a Chicken sandwich and the other a loaded hamburger. Hubby also had a Cargo Barge (?) IPA- which he said was excellent...a little lighter than at home but good none the less! Everyone gushed about how good everything was and plenty of comfort to go around!! Wish I had taken more photos of the food but we were so hungry and ate so fast, I forgot!! We did take a few outside, and a few showing their decor and signs! I recommend this place whole heartedly and want you to know that I wish I could go back again and again, but I live too far away!! ;( Well done and Merci Moose!

I needed somewhere to watch some soccer and was walking around and stumbled upon Le Sous Bock. Well. Every other bar/brasserrie was showing the games in French which was ok because I can speak the language but I wanted to hang out with english speaking people. Le Sous Bock was actually showing the game in English and the place was packed. Started coming back here almost every day afterwards to have a beer or two or three. The waitresses here were pretty and had english accents. Not really Irish ones but hey, I'm sure a frenchman wouldn't know the difference. Never actually tried the food but they have your classic Irish grub which was not really that appealing to me when there are french sandwich/baguettes close by which are delicious. The atmosphere is a little dark but the people in there are friendly.

Right off the bat, the bouncers were incredibly rude, it seemed like none of them wanted to let us into the club and kept adding requirements and fees before they let us enter. Compared to other clubs and bars in the area, it was not a friendly atmosphere and we were not made to feel welcome. We did not feel comfortable having alcoholic drinks because we did not feel safe or that the staff would prioritize our best interests, and while there were many bouncers we in no way felt protected and we were consistently talked down to by them. After several terrible interactions we decided to leave, at which point they acted surprised that we weren't enjoying ourselves. We made a point of reaching out to a manager which is when we met Julien, and while he agreed that we weren't intoxicated or causing any problems he was not willing to address the issues we brought up. We wanted to make it clear that we went there fully intending to spend money and that it was due to the actions and abrasive behaviour of his staff that we did not which he did not seem to care about. We have never been treated so poorly by an establishment, and it left a bad taste in our mouths for the evening. I would never recommend anyone go here, and in fact, would warn people to stay away. The following day we began reading reviews and realized that this was not an isolated incident and that similar encounters have been happening to potential patrons for many years. After speaking to some locals we found out that the club has a reputation for being problematic, and that the people who work there do so because they know they can do whatever they want and still get a paycheck with no risk of repercussions for poor behaviour. Through their lack of action, they have shown that they do not care about the concerns involving their patron's safety and do not intend on making any changes.
