Chase Bank routinely gives me the worst customer service. I'm transferring all my funds to Wintrust. I have read that it has among the best of customer service, and it has some awesome deals for new customers. Chase is too big to care about each customer. I got scammed, so Chase gave me a chargeback and cancelled my debit card. I haven't been able to use my new debit card at the grocery store for about one month because Chase apparently refuses to give me my PIN. I complained about it, so now they've decided to give me yet another PIN! When Covid first started, without warning Chase closed its two nearest branch offices. It didn't even have the courtesy to place notes on the windows to tell us what had happened. Since then, I've had to make a 2 1/2 mile round trip walk any time I have wanted to get anything done at Chase. I'm glad Chicago banks have plenty of competition. I won't have to walk nearly so far, I'll get decent customer service, and I'll make some serious money in the process. read more

Happened to be eating a "Clark St Dog" from the pub next door and ran in to get quarters for laundry. Teller was friendly and efficient, no customers in line and was able to get in and out within a couple of minutes! read more

I recently switched banks to Chase out of convenience with their locations in the city and it has been great. I don't actually bank at Chase but called about cashing a check that I was unable to process through my own bank's mobile deposit feature since it was foreign. Whoever answered my call was so helpful and even suggested a currency exchange location down the street that he thought might help me. I generally try to leave some space between particularly troubling situations and leaving a review, so I can process what took place and decide if leaving feedback is worthwhile. It feels worthwhile and necessary in this situation. I'm an African American professional--a physician. It was an 85 degree day and I was wearing some of my favorite shorts and a polo. I walked into the branch to have my recently deceased mother's accounts closed. When I walked in, there was a group of three white male employees huddled near the back of the office area talking amongst themselves. For some reason, they all seemed reticent to help me. One of them seemed to be reluctantly willing to help me with the request. But not before looking me up and down and smirking. He prefaced that these matters are rarely settled simply and that I should not expect funds. (that was a weird thing to say before even looking up the account). When he looked up the account, he determined that the death certificate showed by my sister days prior had not been processed and that I would need that documentation as well. He said, short of calling the president of Chase, there's nothing he could do. And that he could not change the rules just for me. He was snide. He was rude. His name is DAVID HUSSAR, and he deserves to lose his job with the way he talks to 15-year customers. When he refused to help me further, he walked me to one of his female coworkers of color. She was kind and empathetic, and she made the difference. Chase needs FEWER DAVID HUSSARs among its ranks. read more

I've had a seriously shitty couple of weeks. You name it, work, home, family, dog- everything picked the best time of the year to gang up at the same time and make it all that much harder. Last time I walked in to this location, some sloppy neo-frat boy in a nametag called me "bro" It was hard not to be offended. Beyond the obvious (I'm unmistakeably female), it is terribly unprofessional. Today I walked in and no one tried to sell me anything. Nothing. It was awesome. I made a deposit so quickly and efficiently, that I actually had time to get LUNCH instead of arguing with some brainless employee wasting my time prattling on about how I should apply for a second home loan or a car loan, or additional accounts. Customer appreciation day today means you get a Dean & Deluca Chocolate bar with your deposit! I should be all-caps lock that like a manic Kanye West I GOT CARAMEL! This made my day. Bonus: No one, not one, called me "bro". Wow. This has made me so happy, I might seriously do a little tap dance. read more

I had 3 checks washed and deposted for a total of 15K. The first 2 they refunded, I have been fighting with them on the third. The branch mamager tried to help but has gotten nothing done in 8 months. I got a letter saying "sorry, Bank of America isn't responding to our request to get your money back so we are closing your claim". WHAT?! I had to go through my other banker relationships to get anything done. Guess Chase can just steal your money. Avoid at all costs. read more

My branch of Chase...always...ALWAYS helpful....my guy Dave even sees me and is sure to be sure I have all I need....is always helpful....wish every bank was as helpful...#1 with me. Example so on and on...needed name on deceased mother's account changed to make it an estate account...maybe 30 seconds. One of my accounts didn't show up on line since there were no transactions....maybe a minute to fix. Need a mortgage refi....?.....30 minutes and an 'at home' closing...damn...like this bank... Full-service Chase bank with 6 ATMs. The bank tellers are nice. I has set up a checking account here and the bankers really helped me out making my checking account free for college and were very personable. I go here often to withdraw cash and get quarters for laundry. No task is too large or too small for the bankers here. The manager is very present and within seconds of walking in, even if you have to wait in line, the employees will ask you what you need help with to expedite the process. After 10 years of banking at Chase IM DONE! I had a very large sum of money deposited into my account from a cashed out stock and Chase closed my account for 3 weeks because they made several mistakes on their end. They promised access to the account within a week, 3 weeks later I am STILL locked out of my account and have no access to MY money to pay bills, buy groceries etc. They have several managers and the vice president of IT working on the case and yet.. no answers. They are losing a loyal customer, and a loyal customers family members. US bank here we come! read more

The bankers who work here are pleasant and very helpful for basic banking services. I expect that. What I don't like about this location is their safety deposit boxes and how they price them. Being one of the few banks on the north side offering vault services (it's very rare to find them now), I didn't expect it to look like a converted walk-in closet. Sure, the metal door looks impressive, but the room is tiny, and there's no separate room to work with the box and contents in private. I also didn't appreciate them misrepresenting their box sizes. At this location, a 3x5 is really 2x4.75 when measured with a ruler. It's the same size as my 2x5 safety deposit box at the downtown main branch, yet this location charges more for a box nearly the same size. After waiting for two years on a list for a safety deposit box here, I told them they wasted my time and walked out. read more

This is a major bank. Customer service is not the priority. Their priority is to get you to sign up for products and services that money for the bank and may not be the best for you. Everything is a hassle and is you dont fall for their pitch then you certainly wont see any service. Also, remember they can say what ever they want about fees and charges but whatever is in the disclosure is what you will pay. Be proactive and read the fine print. read more

To be fair, there are a few people working here who seem genuinely nice and knowledgeable, but they're usually the ones behind the counter who I don't always get to see because the minute I come in I'm bombarded by obnoxious, suave (always male) bankers who claim they can deposit my check for me and have it be faster than waiting in line for a teller. Um, no. Going with you to your little cubby and hearing you schmooze about BS credit card options, etc. that I am NOT INTERESTED IN takes a hell of a lot longer than just letting me go deposit my effing check at the window. I am offended by how stupid these people take me to be. You really think I'm going to fall for your credit card pitch? Please, stop harassing me the moment I walk in and let me come to you if I have a specific concern that a teller can't work with me on. Overall, Chase as a company is horrible. On more than one occasion I've either not received payments I should have received, or am told A WEEK AFTER I USE PERSON TO PERSON QUICKPAY that there was a problem with the transaction. No one at this branch is ever able to figure out why these glitches happen, but they just cover their asses and tell me they'll pay for the mistaken overdraft charges, etc. Only good thing I have to say about them. If they F up, they'll never explain why, but they'll fix the problem and apologize. read more

I became a customer when I went to this branch to pay my property taxes. The manager saw my checks were from another bank and asked if I was happy with them. Great timing on his part because I was not. So, I sat down with Lori Rinaldi, a personal banker, and switched to Chase. I'm very happy with the level of customer service. Yes, they are aggressive selling their product but that doesn't bother me. I'm in sales too. Plus, my previous bank never tried to sell me anything and as a result I wasn't managing my savings properly. Chase is a huge company and I normally am wary of "the man" but in this case, I like their size. The benefit is that they have ATMs and branches in lots of locations. read more

I had the most APPAULLING experience over the phone with the Chase Bank Branch at Clark and Halsted. I attempted to call to gather more information about ordering different currency vacation through this branch since it is the closest to where I reside. The man who "helped" me sounded like a young man that was never taught common curtosey or respect. He flat out told me they don't do that at that branch (okay fine). My friend was able to do it over the phone with her Chase branch, so I asked if he knew other branches - he said "well no branch is supposed to do that so you won't have much luck" - okay rude, but fine. THEN, I asked if he could help me put a travel notification on my credit card. He told me he could before we got into the whole currency fiasco, but when I brought it up again he acted like he had no clue what I was referring to. I ended the conversation with a simple question, which was "Can you help me in any way at all", in which he responded "I'm sorrrrrry man, nah". WHAT? Who taught this human customer service? The bank manager, dont know his name, was super friendly and helpful and even offered guests in line chocolate while waiting. Everytime I walk into this branch I'm reminded why I bank with Chase. Intelligent, professional service you don't find everywhere. On my last visit Ryan greeted me at the door and asked how he could help. I mentioned I was getting quarters and had a question about direct deposit. He responds, "no problem, let the teller help you with the quarters and if you give me your card I can take care of the direct deposit." Now I'd like to think he wasn't so accommodating just because I was on crutches but he has assisted me before and been super helpful. While holding the door on my way out he said,"hey my name is Ryan if you ever need anything let me know."
