Working on our estate plan, one step was to make our bank accounts POD, payable upon death, which is a simple beneficiary designation. There are no branches where we live, and we called, spoke to supervisors, and engaged in online chat, and they said we had to go to a branch or no dice, not even with copies of driver's licenses and notarization. Called our branch, left multiple messages, no one calls back. Discovered a Key Bank private banking office near us, and the 800-KEY2YOU person called them to ask if they'd accept this at their office, which they might have suggested initially, but we had to figure it out. We sat down with an investment banker who called the Halfmoon branch, and it was still exceedingly difficult and took days. In this day and age, there is no business that can't be conducted remotely, with notaries, copies of licenses, social security numbers, and more, even if it has to be original copies through the mail. Someone needs to explain this to Key Bank, which has no solution for anyone who moved and are not in proximity to a branch. By the way, apparently this issue is specific to Key in New York, not any other state. AVOID KEY BANK.

They charge a $7.50 fee to cash a check if you're not a customer (IF they do have enough cash on hand to cash a check, they could not cash my check $20k check but regardless this is a complete racket). I recommend if you bank with Key Bank now to look into local credit unions such as Adirondack Trust, SEFCU or any local credit union. They all offer better rates, better accounts, excellent customer service and more local branches. They also don't nickel and dime your friends or employees who may need to cash a check by charging them a $7.50 fee to cash a check, I can only image what other small fees are in Key Banks small print. Stay away from Key Bank-just awful!

Meanwhile accounts I had paying with my old debit card were delinquent. Such a mess. They don't have Zelle so you have to verify any account to transfer money or wait for a check to clear. My new problem with them is that I use bill pay. When you set the payment up it gives you a date payment is issued and a date it will be received on or before. Yesterday a call from my mortgage holder, they had not received Aprils mortgage payment. My account showed payment was issued on April 6th, There explanation is that it was lost in the mail and my problem is with the USPS. My exlanation is, what bill pay company issues a check and sends it snail mail now a days to another financial institution. Get the fuck out of the stone ages. Theyre telling me that they are not responsible for late fees cause their contractor did in fact issue payment timely. So what did I do wrong, and why am I being held responsible for your payment contractors responsibility of on time delivery. Thats why there is an issue date and a receipt on or before date. Done with these a-holes. If you want a bank to fight against you, this is the one. Sunmark is not your friend. Only got a 1 cause there is no ZERO option.

Two employees were having a conversation, a third was just sitting there. After a few minutes a woman who was having a conversation came out of the cubicle and asked if she could help us. We said we wanted to open a savings account. She looked us up and down and then asked if we had an appointment. An appointment!?!? I have never had to make an appointment to open a savings account. In typical Clifton Park highfalutin attitude, she went on to say that they were busy and had other appointments scheduled. What I saw were 3 people sitting at their desks with no customers! We made an appointment for next Saturday. When I asked how long it would take to open the account, we were told 45 minutes to an hour! For a savings account?! To recap: we were trying to give the bank our money. The bank employee was snotty, and basically told us to come back another time. We found this whole experience ridiculous. Even though we made an appointment, we will be looking for another banking institution. I wouldn't recommend the Clifton Park branch of Bank of America if you are expecting good customer service.

Employees do their part and I have had a friendly experience. Turnover remains a concern. This branch is in a great location in the heart of Clifton park. At one point they had 4 branches within 2 miles and it's down to 2 now. I don't bank here anymore but my dad continues to do so.

And they asked me irrelevant documentation which has nothing to do with my loan. I strongly believe they discriminated me because of my ethnicity. After all this frustration I applied for my HELOC loan application on July 13 with Citizens Bank and they are about to sign my closing documentation tomorrow. Which is huge difference between these two Banks. Citizens Bank is so easy to deal with and quick that I was really shocked and surprised. It is just amazing experience.

The changed their policy on my…read morecredit line without notifying me, Years ago they suggested a premium cc that has the ability to use it as a credit line for cash. After 18 years of working with me and multiple loans paid off and some current. Not once have I been late on a payment, credit score is good, but I was told that's the new policy of BROAD VIEW CREDIT UNION. Changed last Wednesday????? I informed them I had written checks and needed to cover them. They told me that was their policy, and they couldn't help me. Wasted an hour and a 1/2 at the bank trying to work it out ( keep in mind I have 20k in credit available but can't do a cash advance )?? 6 different people tried to help me, Finally they offered a minimum person loan. To cover checks I wrote. I would have to wait a day !??! I just left disgusted , went to Key Bank and they were more then helpful!! 30 minutes and I had a credit line 2x more than Cap com.
