Human connection feels rare in an age dominated by automation, and they embody why it still matters. In August '25, I enrolled in a Breeze Spending Account through the online application. Because of my own mistake, the application was left unfinished and unverified. Frustrated with the online process, I went in person. Jenny was bright, polite, and fast -- I walked out with a card in hand. The next day, I ran into verification issues with the Mission Fed app. Jenny sat me down and worked through the problem step-by-step, adding context, notes, and documents to my account. I came in with a negative outlook and left with a genuinely positive experience. A year later, in August '26, I had major issues with online banking -- again due to my own oversight during Mission Fed's digital banking system rollout. Phone support tried their best but couldn't resolve it, so I went in person. Natalie E. was kind, thoughtful, and incredibly thorough. She made sure I didn't leave until the issue was fully resolved. She contacted support directly, facilitated the entire process, and reassured me throughout. Despite bringing a stack of documents, all I needed was my card and driver's license. I walked out finally able to log in and use online banking. That night, I set up an external account. The very next day, Natalie called to double-check for fraud protection. Most banks would send an automated email -- Mission Fed took the extra step to personally look out for me. I am the type to micromanage my finances and have many experiences with different banks and financial institutions. This level of service doesn't happen without strong leadership behind the scenes -- Mission Fed is clearly choosing and training the right people. The APY and rates are moderately competitive. You can certainly find higher yields elsewhere, but you lose out on exceptional customer service. A bank might offer a better rate, but good luck reaching someone who can actually help. If you value community -- especially at a time when we're losing so much of it -- Mission Federal Credit Union in National City is the place to go.

They are very helpful and patient if we have issues and they try to resolve it. If I have to call their hotline, I don't have to wait long and they are always helpful. I've never seen a coin machine in any banks so this was the first and I love it! You deposit your coins and it prints out a voucher for you to deposit into your account. If it's over $200 they will charge you 11% for members and non members is a slightly higher rate. Clean establishment. Plenty of parking in the front with disabled accessibility. There's a security guard around who is helpful and pays attention to detail, which makes me feel safe whenever I visit.

She asked me to set up night drops and mentioned that I might have noticed they only had one teller on duty. I acknowledged that I had noticed and explained that I would contact my corporate office to see if I could arrange to set it up, but ultimately, that decision was up to corporate, and I wasn't the one who could make that choice. I also pointed out that it was not my fault that they did not have sufficient staff to handle the volume of customers. Since the branch opened, I have observed a significant turnover in staff. It seems they struggle to retain employees and maintain knowledgeable and efficient personnel. On February 19, 2026, I returned to make two deposits and to get change. I was next in line when I approached the teller. She asked me to wait in the lobby, saying someone would assist with my transaction. I patiently waited to be helped, but the teller proceeded to assist three other customers and also helped a merchant customer with their transaction. I am uncertain why this occurred, but I suspect the teller was upset due to our previous conversation about setting up the night drop. We did manage to set up the deposit drop, but I arranged it for the branch in Santee instead. The staff there is much friendlier and more professional. Moving forward, I will choose to visit the Fry's Road location, as they have sufficient staff to accommodate the volume of customers.

I understand it was Christmas Eve and people wanted to go home. Unfortunately. This bank doesn't offer a lot of locations where it really limits the days I can go take care of things I cannot do online. I requested some money and needed to get some cash swap to larger bills, he seemed annoyed and said he might not have time. Not to go on much detailed but I wasn't asking for a transaction that was going to take him one hour to complete, it was a simple withdrawal and some 20's turn into 100's and he didn't want to do it? He ended up doing it and I was out in less than 10 min but didn't give me receipt so when I check the account I saw that the gave me the account number (I asked him for it as I didn't have it available) from the wrong account and I was at risk of overdraft. I ended up returning on 12/29/25 to speak with the manager to share my experience and to close the account. I asked him to provide some sort of receipt showing I closed the account and he said he could only do that the following day and that he would email me. I received the email that says an account was closed but as of today, a week later, I still have 2 out of the 3 accounts showing active on the app. I was very clear I wanted to close everything and terminate business with this bank. Obviously I'll have to go back again to deal with this as they don't care of the time of their guest.

I had zero intention of opening an account that day. Enter Heba K. Not only was she happy to help--even though it was close to closing time-- she went above and beyond. Heba clearly explained Cal Coast's products, answered every question without skipping a beat, and got me set up faster than any other financial institution I've dealt with. I was in and out in under an hour, and that included opening a new account. She was friendly, funny, professional, and incredibly efficient. It didn't feel like a sales pitch--it felt like someone genuinely helping me find the best fit for my needs. I was so impressed by her service that I chose to become a member right then and there. That says a lot coming from someone who had no plans to switch banks. Small side note: don't do what I did and walk in close to closing time to open an account. It's just not considerate. That said, Heba and the team never made me feel rushed or like I was an inconvenience, they even gave my dog some treats. Total pros. Heba this was top-tier service. Angie Nguyen (her name card) helped me with a transaction back then, when she is the only one offered me a note written "how can I help you?", when other people just looked at me and she was so patient and gentle during the entire process. She took her time to communicate with me clearly and respectfully, and I appreciated her so much. I tried to give her credit and recognition at that time, but I didn't know how.
