I had a great experience here. I wasn't too fond of another location by me so I decided to stop by Midtown. I was helped by Lisa. She was unbelievably thorough and kind. She made the process of opening another account quite simple and showed me features that I was never shown before even after having chase since 2019. The security guard is also very nice and helpful and asked me if I had an appointment or needed assistance immediately. Today I was helped by Citlali who I'm hoping is very new. She seemed uncertain and unsure of everything she was doing which didn't instill confidence in me. The slowest Chase Bank on the planet from my experience and although I obviously have not been to every one of them, I've been to my share of them in the greater Sacramento area and in other states. They have kiosks for simple transactions, but for things requiring a banker, good luck, you'll be waiting for 45 minutes or longer and there's not even a line in front of me, that's just if the 2 bankers that have are both with clients. The female banker Sadia was just chatting away with her female client even though there's a line growing. Blatant disregard for people's time. Obviously, they do not care that your time is valuable. After contacting Chase's 1-800 number and being advised I could pick up statements from a closed account at any branch, my husband went here, only to be told by Sophie that they only had access to the prior 6 months of statements and could not provide any statements from 2019 as I needed. My husband left empty-handed. Rather upset, I contacted the 1-800 number again, and they again confirmed that I would able to get the statements at a branch. I managed to get the statements when I went, without so much as a mention of any 6 months rule from the fellow that helped me. The fiasco cost me cab fare, time, my husband's time, and quite a bit of frustration. Providing incorrect information to clients is not the service I expect from my bank, and will be going elsewhere. Some bad-built,middle aged, mousy haired women with greasy hair in the back right corner of the office was EXTREMELY rude, walked into the cubicle without asking my information. Proceeds to tell me she couldn't help me then says "well let me take a look" then asks for my ID after the fact? She had crumbs on her white top and smeared lipstick. Judgy shady and unapproachable attitude. You can tell she is the pain in everyone's side in the office. Tried to shoo me away without helping. Ugly inside and out. The aura she emitted would've been dumpster green if I could capture it. I literally just walked out and said I'd call 1-800 because I couldn't stand her IRRITATING voice and distasteful tone. She just looked and acted sad about her life and took it out on me and whoever was around. If you have the misfortune of encountering her, observe don't absorb her nastiness. She's nowhere near pretty or well off enough to have the attitude she does. And it doesn't look good with her mature skin. Recently in march of this year I went to this branch and met banker Lisa Lu with my good friend who is also a private client. At the time of the meeting I was told that the fee would be waived for my safety deposit box as a private client. She looked into my account and stated this would not be an issue but I would have to come back in June. As June came around, I sent an email to Lisa as per the understanding with the letter stating he charges. No response from Lisa on the first attempt. I resent the email days later and she responded saying now she would not be able to do so. Today I walked up to the branch and spoke to the manager Carlos Enriquez. I mentioned the understanding and incident and his attitude was very poor. This shows a great lack of integrity on his part as he cannot back the words of his employees and staff. Integrity and trust are the cornerstones of the service industry, especially banking. I'm not upset about the $100 fee but at the lack of integrity from promise to delivery of a simple fee waiver. I'm a small business owner in the service industry as well. When I give my word; my customers consider this "Golden" . Is this how you teach the managers the value of relationships and integrity? a lot to be desired. read more

The manager Manny Singh is racists, horrible attitude towards helping customers who have a an actual issue or anything that requires work of him. When asked to call a manager from a different branch to discuss customer details and try to help the customer get a check cleared, he appears angry and vindictive. If had any employees with the attitude and or responses I've seen out of Many Singh, I would fire them on the spot out of fear of losing business or just having that attitude attached to my name!!! read more

Tonight I received A+ service from Ellen, Officer/Relationship Banker. I hustled over after work to provide some identity verification for a line of credit I want to open. Three other bankers/tellers/service representatives were having trouble getting on board with what I needed since it probably wasn't in their usual repertoire of tasks. Suddenly, Ellen came up and nailed it with the help I was seeking. Ellen was happy and helpful, she knew how to get it done. She was kind and welcoming and offered me a cup of water. I obliged and was thankful to feel some compassion. I accomplished what I needed with Ellen's help. While I do not place my liquid assets with for profit banks (thus I cannot issue 5 stars on principle), I want to recommend Ellen and this Chase branch for your needs. That is, if you are set on utilizing a "for profit" bank. Personally, I much prefer to let my money rest with a credit union, but for certain purposes, a for profit bank like Chase is of good use. Uggghhhhhh. This location ALWAYS only has ONE teller!! The do have robot tellers though which most of the time you cant do anything with except deposit money or get cash from. If you have to ANYTHING else, you have to wait FOREVER in line for the 'one' teller. I've been in here 3 times and each time there are at least 5 people in line- all looking annoyed. Crazy that they NEVER open up another window, its CHASE BANK for crying out loud, cant they afford ONE MORE actual PERSON to put to work in one of the windows?? Seriously smh. I avoid this location at all costs unless its the ONLY option. My advise is that you do the same unless you have an hour to waste in the bank. Worst branch out of a bunch of bad branches in this town. This branch makes me want to go to Golden 1 CU. There is never more than a single teller, despite plenty of other staff doing nothing. How you run a payroll like that with five people in line is beyond me, but makes me very resentful of the management. They recently installed indoor ATMs that don't do anything a teller can. They are always empty and I did not enjoy the one time I used one other than avoiding another 20 minute line. I just needed quarters today and they don't do that, so I got to wait for 15 for a few business owners to finish complicated transactions. If you like waiting entirely too long for a single teller, even on a Saturday afternoon, head over to the midtown chase branch and waste some time. read more

The tellers and bankers who work at this particular Chase Bank location, have always been wonderful, extremely helpful along with always having a warm and friendly attitude. So I happen to be beside this bank's location which was closer than my own bank so I walked in to cash a check that was given to me by the doctor who owns the business next to my clinic. I am assuming because I had long hair they told me that the check seemed unofficial, and that they couldn't cash it. The management literally ignored me after they said this even though I tried to explain to them that I'm a medical doctor and definitely not a threat for that type of thing but it fell upon deaf ears. The manager walked out got in her white Mercedes and drove away smirking at me the entire time. I think they were under the impression that the cheap suits they were wearing was equivalent to the right to judge and assume a stranger's intentions. This was embarrassing and something that someone of my status should not have to deal with ever. If you must Bank with Chase I would definitely recommend avoiding this place at all costs, as client profiling seems to be the name of the game. By the way I just walked down the street to my bank, and of course GoldenOne cashed and deposited it immediately. read more

Slowly the WAMU signs on the building have changed to CHASE. Slowly the WAMU customer service philosophy is being replaced by...um....signs that say CHASE. How hard is it to convert a WAMU branch into a CHASE branch? Six months ago, I receive numerous notices in the mail that inform me of the impending switchover. Three months ago, I receive a notice in the mail notifying me that my checking account has been switched from WAMU to CHASE. However, I do not receive a new CHASE debit card to accompany my new CHASE checking accoung. Two months ago, I go to my local branch of CHASE to deposit a check. My WAMU card does not work outside in the ATM machine so I have to go inside. I wait in line for a teller who informs me that they cannot immediately deposit my check into my account, since the branch is still a WAMU branch. I point to the giant CHASE sign above her head. She says, apologetically, that while the signeage has changed, the functioning of the branch has not, and therefore they have to snail mail my check to a CHASE branch in a different part of the state. I point to the WAMU logo on my debit card and ask why my WAMU debit card doesn't work at a WAMU branch. She informs me that since my checking account was converted to CHASE, that my debit card is now a CHASE debit card. I look again at the WAMU logo, confused. So then why didn't I receive a new CHASE logo-bearing debit card, I ask. She does not know. I will posit the question again. How hard is it to convert a WAMU branch into a CHASE branch? read more

The short: Not my favorite Chase location, but not the worst either. The long: I've had to stop in at this particular branch on a few occasions and have had some mixed experiences. I try not to use the atm's in the front of this branch after business hours as there are usually some shady persons hanging around in the area. The tellers are usually pretty quick to get you in and out the door fairly quickly. Where I have the biggest issue here is that every time I need to speak with an agent on the floor I have to sit around waiting for quite awhile before I am helped, and all the while I watch the staff stand around jaw jacking. Then when I am finally helped they take forever and a day processing whatever it is they need to be doing for you. I actually took my mother in law in here to open a new account and it took almost 2 hours. Oh and lets not forget the parking lot the size of a postage stamp to park in. What works: Fine for a quick in and out teller visit aside from that they work about as fast as grass grows. What to improve: Training of the staff who works with customers on the floor. read more

Stay away from Chase. Their computer system relies entirely on scanning your deposit and withdrawal slips. If you or the teller has bad handwriting, the money will go into or out of the wrong account. 2's become 7's, 3's become 8's, 4's read as 1's. There are many Chase accounts that differ from one another by just one digit. I found out my account, opened in Idaho, differs from someone in New Jersey if a 2 is read as a 7. The teller told me that unfortunately WaMu customers were mainly lower income folks who have terrible handwriting. She added that WaMu had a better system that relied on picking the correct accounts from those linked on debit card; no scanning needed and fewer errors. So the idiots at Chase management replaced a better computer with their inferior, error-prone piece of junk !!! I asked the manager at a different branch about this and he admitted that their scanners have a 15% error rate. The tellers are supposed to check the names on the account but that's hard to do because of the small font and poor choice of colors in their system (i.e. dark letters on dark background). Pretty much, it's up to me to look at my receipt and catch their mistake. This is insane. The problem is even worse when you consider that Chase is nationwide (24 states). That increases the chances that a mis-scanned transaction slip in some other state could mess up your account. read more

Like all the other WaMu customers too lazy to close my account, I got a letter overflowing with excitement at the happy news that some faceless corporate entity was was being taken over by another faceless corporate entity. Great exciting new changes were coming soon! I didn't wait long. My first statement had a brand-new $5 service fee. There are some people out there who pine for the old days when there was only one bank in town, and you could go into a bank branch, and chat with the manager, who knew your first name, and gas cost a quarter and men didn't have long hair, and young people respected their elders. And a service fee was what you paid to have them tuck your money in at night, and have the nice man open the door for you. Several decades later, there are fifty-one or fifty-two other banks and credit unions that would love to have your money without nailing you with a service charge. Chase's great strategy for entering the California market seems to be to extract a one-time $5 from lazy WaMu depositors before they bail for Golden1 or Ally. read more

I received a promotional advertisement in the mail promising a $125.00 bonus if I opened a new checking account and set up direct deposit. Within 30 days of opening a new account, the advertisement promised the $125.00 would be deposited to my account. I followed the instructions carefully, and was compliant with all the requirements. After five months passed, I was given the run-around - obviously a case of "Bait and Switch" false advertising. I was also socked with many services charges I did not owe and had to make over a dozen phone calls and two visits in person to the branch to get those false service charges refunded. The manager of the Midtown branch is very nice and friendly - but overall, I think Chase is just one more hegemonic corporate finance company which practices fraudulent false advertising with "Bait and Switch". It is part of the Chase Corporate Culture. When my checking account was the victim of online criminal fraud I got very little help from Chase to straighten it out. It took me two months and about 10 phone calls. My now closed checking account was linked to my Chase credit card - and after my checking account was completely drained by internet fraud - then unauthorized, fraudulent charges were billed to my Chase credit card. I had to close both my checking account and Chase credit card to stop the fraudulent charges from the internet thief, because I got very little help from Chase staff. It was ONLY when the "straw had broken the camels back" and I already had decided to permanently close my account anyone at Chase tried seriously to help me. A case of "too little, too late". I do not recommend this bank to anyone - if you are a middle class or working class person - you are far better off joining a credit union. Credit unions are part of the co-op movement and your money deposited in a local credit union stays in the local economy, instead of a monolithic Wall Street corporate bank that was the recipient of the $800 billion bail out by Congress, Senate, White House - I consider that "Corporate Welfare" - stick to a credit union for your financial needs. read more

A big bank is a big bank is a big bank. *shrug* It is what it is, man. As far as big banks go, I really don't have too much of a problem with Chase and even though they are certainly less "friendly" than WaMu, they are, in this little ol' Yelpers opinion, more customer friendly than Wells Fargo or B of A. The main plus I think they have going for them is that they process withdrawls each evening by how many they can get through your account. Meaning......if I have 30 bucks in my account and a 30 dollar check out and three 10 dollar checks, they will process they 3 ten dollar checks and then just ding me for 1 transaction when they process the 30 dollar check. As opposed to B of A who processes the largest one first in order to get as many overdraft fees on you as possible. I also don't have any fees. It did take me going in and saying "look, I'm going to leave this bank because so many others have free checking...what can you do for me?" but it happened. I have business and personal and I don't pay fees on either. The staff at this particular location has always been really helpful and nice to me, even when I squeeze in the door at 5:59pm to put money in the bank. I've gotten a ton of money back on my business debit card through their reward program. And they have the really great new fancy ATMs that don't require deposit slips or envelopes. They are occasionally touchy about accepting wrinkled bill but it's still a pretty nice, speedy ATM system. Overall, I find that even though they lost the WaMu name, they still have better customer service and products than the other big banks so I'm sticking with them. I'm sure some of the smaller Credit Unions might have better stuff but I feel like it's not even really a fair comparison. If you like having a national bank, then Chase really isn't that bad of a choice. read more

Like most banks, Chase makes TONS of money by "nickel and dimming" their customers, allowing them to give their CEOs bonuses and building new beautify banks. This place, due to its central location in Midtown, is HORRIBLE in servicing its patrons. Recently, my ATM card wouldn't read properly so I've now had to make THREE trips to the bank and still haven't seen a bank rep to get a new card. Problem is that there are only TWO representatives in their little office cubicles to serve all those customs waiting with more complex issues the tellers can't handle. Every time I come by there are several people waiting. Today EIGHT of us were in line waiting and after 30 mins I gave up. Should it really take several trips just to get a new card???!!! Service has always been friendly and expedient, but it doesn't begin to make up for how this bank has changed since Chase took over! I chose WAMU for its solid reputation, and for the fact that they didn't nickle and dime their patrons for every single fee imaginable. So here's my list of grievances since Chase took over, and why I will be changing banks after I research my options this weekend: 1. Checks: I've never had an issue with my addresses, regardless of bank. If an error was made, it was corrected quickly and with apology. Chase not only got my new address wrong, but refused to help me at the branch to correct it because 'this issue is no longer handled on the branch level.' Although I did manage to sweet talk them into helping me in person, 3 times, the other 4 times I had to deal with a phone banker. That's right, 7 times total to correct my address. Each time the same exact issue was reprinted without correction. I gave up. That 6 month period taught me that I truly don't even need to live with physical checks, and at least I'm saving postage now. So my checks are still wrong, but thankfully it has never been mentioned the few times I did use them since. 2. ATM fees: Let's face it, convenience is important in this day and age. I simply don't feel I should be charged for not being able to drive an extra 20 minutes just to find a Chase ATM. I actually get it, that bank wants to charge me 'cuz I'm not their customer. But what ticks me off is when I want to take out $20, and I actually lose $25 from my bank account because MY bank charged me a penalty on TOP of the $3 fee from the other bank! It's a nuisance, but not enough to tip the scales. 3. Debit Card fees: An annual fee for a credit card... I may not like it, but I can accept it. I had a free debit card. Now all of a sudden, I have to pay annually for a debit card unless I choose some stupid Disney Rewards card. I'm sorry, I have no children & have never found Disney to be 'all that'. Those rewards are meaningless. Lame, but fine, I can deal. 4. Penalty Fees: Yes, they went up... by several dollars. Ouch. Ok, so it's more incentive to be good and stay aware of what's happening in my account =p 5. No More Free Checking: Unless you keep a minimum of $5,000 in the checking account, or have direct deposit, or whatever. Ok, so this doesn't really change anything since I have direct deposit. But these unannounced changes in policy are really starting to tick me off! 6. Cashier's Check Fees: This is the one that broke the deal for me. The rule of thumb has always been, if you need a cashier's check, go to your bank. Don't get it from anywhere else, 'cuz you'll have to pay for it and lose more $ than you're already taking out. In my life, I've only heard of one other bank that dared to charge for these. Today, suddenly, a cashier's check is $8. I'm sorry, but that's freaking ridiculous, and the end of the line for this banker. The only way to get out of that fee, according to the teller, is to upgrade to a different account and maintain $15,000 with Chase. Sorry, no dice. I'll never get to $15,000 if I keep having my hard-earned $ taken away by the institution that's supposed to help me protect it. They already earn enough money by the interest they get from lending my $ out to other patrons. read more

Friendly staff. One of the tellers was nice enough to give me some of the printed out checks that they have at the bank and waived the normal $2 fee for me. I love this location. The only reason I am not rewarding it 5 stars is because of the Shady often times combative people I have witnessed within the bank. Not the banks fault, just some crazies go in there. The bankers are Knowledgeable and quick to take care of you. It is also in a great location, other than the crazy people, it is located directly in the center of Midtown. Couldn't get more ground zero than this location.
