It is long past time for an update of my review of Kate and her amazing business. I've been a client of Chasing Daylight Photography since 2018, and we've been getting photos with Kate every year since. Although we mostly do annual mini sessions, we've had Kate do full family sessions with wiggly twin babies, and a wigglier grandad who is impossible to get to look at the camera, it's probably harder to get him to look at the camera but Kate will get your shot. Kate has the most infectious personality, and she keeps my son locked in for the mini sessions, which are perfect for kids. Her newborn sessions were perfect for my tastes and I wanted sweet pictures without weird swaddling, composite photos and strange props. Kate knows how to pose life without looking posed (if that makes sense). She was even good at navigating a few tricky family moments with composure and humor. I recently was able to get some pictures for a headshot session and I really loved the results. Her results are always great without a bunch of fussy equipment, the locations are fun, her pricing is fair and her propensity to book up immediately shows you why she's so popular! Kate is absolutely amazing. I got a spectacular deal for a one-hour shoot on Groupon, but she treated me like I was a full-paying customer and was working so hard during the hour we had. I was exhausted and I wasn't even taking the pictures! These were my first professional photos I have had besides my senior graduation photos in high school. I have been meaning to get some of our family. My husband and I did not have a wedding ceremony and I always felt like I missed out of the photo aspect, but these almost made me tear up when I received them -- they really fill that void I had of not having photos to remember the joyful beginning of our lives together. I LOVED Kate! I bought the Groupon as a gift for my twin sister who was pregnant at the time. My sisters baby came a week early and I emailed Kate that day, she was able to find something on her calender within two weeks to fit us in. When she showed up she was SOOO patient, she waited over an hour while my sister fed my niece and got her happy again. She had the perfect props and blankets and seems very comfortable around newborns. We ended up putting my 8 month old down next to the baby hoping to get a few shots, my 8 month old just wanted to launch on the baby so she was only down there for a matter of seconds - Kate ended up getting two amazing shots that brought tears to mine and my sisters eyes. Kate does an A+ job! I found her on Groupon and took a chance. From all of the photography Groupons that are out there I'm so happy I bought hers. I checked out her website and really liked what I saw. I contacted her about a month before I wanted our session done and I knew she would be busy with all of her Grouponers, but she fit us in no problem. I told Kate I wanted some beach photos as well as some Urban setting photos and she suggested Windansea Beach in La Jolla. It was perfect for what I was looking for! She was on time and ready to go when we arrived. She knew exactly where to place us and wasting no time in figuring out how to set up her shots. It was so helpful that she was able to give us direction while we were taking the photos. Before we met she suggested bringing "props" to the session since they make the photos different & interesting, I loved this! I'd never thought to bring anything and I'm so glad we did. She also suggested bringing a change of clothes if we wanted to switch up the photos and we did. We quickly changed in the car and it looked like a whole new photo session, all within a little over an hour! We received our touched up photos about two weeks later and I couldn't be more pleased! Kate was great to work with start to finish. I emailed about a month out to do a short anniversary shoot while we would be in town and she had a time available. She emailed me details of everything I needed before the shoot and then was super sweet and day of, even calling to let us know it would be better to start a little early due to the marine layer coming at the beach. She directed us through the whole shoot which was great- no awkward "do whatever you want" type stuff- she knew just what poses worked and that helped move things along.
