The menu at this location is a bit different than the others. They have some daily specials, HH and even some seasonal dishes. I went with the Tennessee Hot Chicken sandwich and my mom got the Crispy Lemon Chicken. The sandwich was good, wasn't as spicy as I hoped it would be but still good. I upgraded chips to cajun fries and those were good. The Crispy Lemon chicken was okay to me, my mom enjoyed it but didn't like the mashed potatoes it came with. She said they were too lumpy. We also shared a crab cake - still too fishy for me lol, but my mom liked it. I got a raspberry lemon drop martini and it was a bit watered down tasting but I'd definitely go back and try some other options. Our server was really nice and attentive. The red beans and rice had a rich, smoky flavor that tasted like it had been simmering for hours. The jambalaya was loaded with shrimp, chicken, and andouille sausage in a flavorful Cajun butter and wine sauce with plenty of peppers, onions, and tomatoes. The only thing that caught me off guard was the menu describing the jambalaya as being served over risotto. Mine was served over regular rice in a thinner sauce, so it wasn't quite what I expected. It was still a good dish--just different from the description. Between the food, atmosphere, service, and prices, I'd happily stop back. If you're in the area and looking for solid Cajun-inspired comfort food, Mallards is worth a visit.

My husband got the fish tacos for the first time and loved them.. It was a really healthy portion and even had some leftovers. I stuck with my favorite, the cod & chips,these are always amazing! Our car got struck and we did not arrive until 1 1/2 hours late. Just after we were served she announced to the table that we all had to leave in 15 minutes. I said I assumed it did not apply to us as we had not even started to eat. she told us it applied to all of us. She told us if I was not happy about this I could speak to the Manager. I told her I would like to. then she said I could speak to her instead but I told her I wanted to speak to the Manager. No Manager ever materialized. I probably will never go to this restaurant again. I know times are tough and I don't object to time limits on tables BUT if a customer is very late the least a server should do is let them know there is a very limited time left for them to eat BEFORE they order $70 worth of food and drinks. You can get stickers, mugs, shirts, key chains, and LPs (records for you younger readers) I opted go for the umbrella that the drops on it turn purple in the rain. Waitress never came back to refill water during entire 1 hour bowling session. 99% of other establishments (including bowling alleys) allow people to bring in their own water! My best guess is alcohol drinkers ruined this for people looking to simply bring their own water in. They probably hide liquor in water bottles and thus Shakopee Bowl makes a knee jerk decision which negatively impacts non-alcohol drinking customers. I won't come back in until this policy is reverted or fixed.
