Right now, they are working on adding a new rainforest biosphere (Current ETA September 2027). There is also a butterfly room filled to the brim with butterflies, it is quite a site to see! The interior features children play areas, weather ed, reptiles and more. Not to forget about the AQUARIUM (my favorite part), which gives visitors the opportunity to touch rays and sharks, see the penguins, awe at massive tank with a wide variety of fish, and don't forget the penguins and jellyfish! The exterior is like a mini zoo, it could easily take you an hour+ to visit the flamingos, monkeys, tigers, Pygmy hippos, wolves, red panda, petting zoo and more. They also have concessions inside and outside if you need a beverage or some snacks. Don't forget to end the day with a ride on the carousel! During the December/January holiday time, they also have a lighted exhibit outdoors that you can walk through with lighted sculptures, shows, and hot cocoa. The Greensboro Science Center is a great value experience for something to do in Greensboro, I can't recommend it enough.

If you're into dinosaurs, plants, geology, or natural science in general, you'll enjoy yourself here, but the museum definitely adds a local flare and incorporates NC history and geography. While the museum is kid-friendly, it is not kid-focused. It is family focused and for all ages. My husband and I are child-free and had a great time. Of course, we are nerds and had science classes together in college. I do think this is a great museum for kids who are school aged and able to read well and ask questions. It is probably not the best option for toddlers or preschoolers when it comes to museums. The museum hosts birthday parties, and a group was there for that- what a fun idea! If you visit, plan to spend a morning or afternoon here- it definitely takes a few hours to see everything but not the full day.

Brenner Children's Museum, and they are always such a treat! It's so much fun to explore the exhibits without kids around and enjoy the playful, creative atmosphere. The museum was the first children's museum in the Triad and still features some of its original exhibits -- including the iconic big red chair, which is a total photo favorite! During regular hours, the museum is perfect for kids ages 0-12, with hands-on learning and interactive play spaces that spark curiosity and imagination. But my personal favorite -- the Neptune Climber XXL -- is definitely for all ages! It's an amazing structure that brings out everyone's inner child. I mean it is 2 stories high. The staff is friendly, the events are well-organized, and the museum continues to be a special part of Greensboro. Whether you're bringing little ones or attending an adult night, this place never fails to bring smiles and good memories.

There is also a pretend grocery store, pizza parlor, play house, construction site and doctors office. The toddler area allows free play for littles and is enclosed. Another section of the museum also has a water station. Outside you'll find a garden with a mud kitchen, fruits and vegetables, as well as a chicken coop. The additional outdoor section is a massive climbing area with ropes for dayzzzz. The staff is so friendly and they just started implementing a frequent visitor pass. I believe after 5 visits you get free admission. You can get a punch card at the front desk. I thought that was neat, and also encourages families to visit again. It's the least stimulating museum we've visited and much more enjoyable than the Kaladieum in Winston salem which has TV's and screens everywhere. Though this museum is geared towards a younger crowd, it's nice that parents have a place to bring children that sparks imagination, creativity and can be a break from the constant exposure of electronics that younger kids are so often drawn towards.

Blandwood Mansion is a privately owned museum in Downtown Greensboro. The museum opened in 1984…read moreafter Preservation Greensboro acquired the property in 1966 as it was going to be demolished. After preserving the building and reconstructing out buildings that had been torn down. The museum offers tours on the hour. The house was the home of NC Governor John Motley Morehead. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. In 1988 it was named at National Historic Landmark because of its architecture. It is the oldest Italianate architecture in the country. Governor Morehead was the 28th Governor on North Carolina and served two terms from 1841 to 1845. He had eight children that were raised at Blandwood. Eight women and nine men were enslaved at the home. The Blandwood Mansion is Italianate architecture. The current house is the original house and two additions. The original farmhouse was built in 1795 and the first addition was made in 1822. The second expansion was in the 1844-1846 in the Italianate style by AJ Davis. The house is decorated as it would have been when Governor Morehead lived there. The house is in great condition and contains original items of the Moreheads that were donated back to the museum by descendants. The kitchen is not original but one of the reconstructed buildings according to the plans they found during a dig. The kitchen also houses the gift shop. The museum does not have a parking area but you can park on a nearby street. I was charged $8 admission to take the guided tour throughout the house. Masks are required to tour the museum. Hand sanitizer was also available inside. I arrived on the half hour but was allowed to join a tour in progress and then complete the first half afterwards. I expected that I'd need to wait until the next tour so was pleasantly surprised. I also bought items in a gift shop and when a bag wasn't available the tour docent offered up his bag for me to use which was very thoughtful. After my tour I realized that I need to learn more about this house and Governor Morehead and his family. I highly recommend this tour to other history buffs.
