DISASTER MANAGEMENT. The Amtrak conductor at this platform today was completely incompetent and a total power-tripping liability. He was throwing a temper tantrum arguing with Metrolink passengers and completely abandoned his job. I was standing right there with a valid, paid Amtrak ticket, and he rudely ignored me, refused to scan my ticket, and literally LOCKED the doors in my face before taking off. This pure negligence left me stranded and cost my business a massive $1,000 professional fee. Total ghetto management of a shared station. Unprofessional, hostile, and utterly pathetic. Non-stop construction on this station never ends it's a nightmare meanwhile the roads and parking lots are not even lined or divided. Instead of doing such a simple and important task they continue with their unbelievably long and puzzling construction building/digging up nothing on top of nothing. The Chatsworth Metrolink station is also the Amtrak station and that is where I was, to take a solo trip to Santa Barbara. The station is at a very good location and is easily accessible from Devonshire street. There is ample free parking, that includes EV spots and handicapped spaces. The flow of traffic is set up well, so that you can drop off or pick up a rider with ease. It would be nice though, if there was more signage. If you get to the station in the nick of time, a few minutes before your train arrives, and this is your first visit, you may be confused as to which track you need to be on. However, if you are there at least half an hour earlier (like me), the periodic PA announcements provide the necessary guidance and direction, to get you on your train. read more

The Chatsworth Metrolink station is home to the metro as well as the Amtrak train. I have taken the metro from this location before and recently picked up a friend here from the train portion. If you arrive early enough in the morning, you should be able to find a decent parking spot, but it does feel up throughout the day as many people are leaving and coming. The main issue I see with this location is the lack of lighting. Late at night. It is very hard to see and I feel that could be a safety hazard. I recommend to add some more lights to make it easier for people to get around. read more

I will utilize this station when I go to DTLA on the Metrolink, when I'm flying out of Burbank Airportr or on the weekends when I take Amtrak down to San Diego. It's a nice little station with lots of parking. The lighting is good in the evenings and is perfect for long-term no fee parking (72 hours max). There is no ticket window so, it's best to purchase your tickes in advance or use the app. There are machines at the station to puchase tickets but, they can take a while to complete your purchase. The Chatsworth station has seen better days. I have used this station in the past and it was quiet and i felt safe. Now its not even safe in the day. Unfortunately there is a row of homeless people and the day i was there, there was a girl screaming and acting erratic. She also go in the train they got her off on the following stop. I'm REALLY conflicted in how to approach and rate this review. I was not here to take a train. Or a bus. I was here because in Bronwyn Ralph's (otherwise very cool) book, "Off The Beaten Path, SFV" this is listed as "Chatsworth Depot Museum of Transportation and Movie History". THAT is what I was looking for. Don't get me wrong... it's here! Kind of. I rarely give things like this 1 star... but the whole way home, I was thinking to myself... If this were just a train station with some cool stuff in it for folks to enjoy while waiting... that'd be cool. But if you call yourself "Chatsworth Station of Museum of Transportation and Movie History"... this was the BIGGEST 1 star... ZERO STAR I've ever seen!!! If you don't have a pamphlet, you can't call yourself a museum!!! But then I searched to write my review, and there are only a few places that call it that... here on Yelp it's just called "Chatsworth Station". On Google, it's just called "Chatsworth Station". So now what am I supposed to do? NOT write a review? There might be other parents looking to take their toddlers here after learning about this whom I can save. So I need to write the review... but I feel bad having my rating influence others who might be looking at this as a train station. So Instead of giving this the 1 STAR that it deserves as a museum... I'm going to rate it 2 stars, because while I really don't know how they function as a train station... the museum side (which there is a sign on the building) is highly misleading and it's good. One thing to know before you go (if you go)... the "museum" IS the train station. As we walked in, it was clear that this trip was a mistake. Because it is the train station there were just old men passed out on benches and one person who may or may not be working there yelling unintelligible things. It was very strange and disorienting. As I started to realize that this WAS the museum, I walked around and saw what there was to see (almost all of which you can see easily online). A model of the train depot (much too high for toddlers to see) a picture of John Wayne and some pictures from other films, two costumes from Bonanza (probably the highlight), a cowboy statue, and some pictures of how the valley used to look. That's pretty much it. Quite the let down. If I were a commuter, I bet this would be REALLY COOL decor... but to call yourself a museum?!?!? There was NO information about the "museum"! Chatsworth Metrolink Station - Am Track - Public Transportation Near Me - Chatsworth, California

I desperately searched for information on this Metrolink station and didn't find anything helpful or current. So I hope this is helpful to others: 1) Is it safe early in the morning? - I've arrived here between 5:45am - 6:15am and it was fine. A lot of other folks heading to downtown are here at this time as well so it feels fine. Another reviewer mentioned it being dark and not lit. Perhaps that was a while ago because this station has lots of light. There's also a security guard but he's pretty unhelpful. No other live metrolink employee ever. 2) Do they sell tickets? In the machines, yes. But my recommendation is use the Metrolink App and buy your tickets in advance. There is no live human there to help you. 3) Are there bathrooms? NONE at the station. But, the trains have bathrooms. So there's that. 4) Does parking fill up? Nope. Tons of spaces whenever I have come. It's not like the regular Metro stations (I used to pay for monthly parking at Universal City/Studio City station) where people have paid parking spaces. Also, parking here in Chatsworth Metrolink is free. 5) Are train on time? So far so good. There was once when the train was delayed 15 minutes but it really was delayed only 5 minutes. Check Twitter for updates - that's the best way to stay updated. Or on the Metrolink app. 6) The train station is outdoors. If you're here in the mornings or evenings, it's cold, you're in the elements. And there you have it. I hope this helps someone else like me who desperately needed info before heading to this station. The reason for three stars? I wish there was more assistance at this station - I just don't understand how you have a train station with no employees. Secondly, the Ventura County Train schedule is fairly limited, and no service on the weekends. Doesn't bode well for those of us who enjoy using public transportation to avoid the atrocious LA traffic. read more

This is a train and bus station. I love running here on saturday mornings. The station has easily visible and easy to read signs. They normally have a security guard on site, which gives the station a safer feel to it. The cool thing about this station are the murals as well as some tile art. It has a cowboy and ranch style theme going on, suitably favoring many of the locals in this beautiful town. read more

Somewhere up in the Valley lives a station that is situated for the perfect get away or for some it's a convenient mode of transportation to and from work. The Chatsworth Station is guarded by a humble staff who enjoy their job and are also extremely knowledgable about all aspects of the Station and its services. Overnight parking is complimentary, but it's park at your own risk. The overall functionality of the station is pretty smooth and straight forward. Ticketing machines are available on deck for on sight purchases. There's a little cafe inside and also a cooled off waiting room. Trains generally run on time or up to 10 minutes behind schedule. The orange line recently expanded to this station so it is possible to commute to the metro from Chatsworth. read more

Lovely little station. Only real downside is that you can't buy tickets from an agent there. I usually just buy my tickets online beforehand. Ample parking and having it joined with a Metro stop is an added plus! When I attended CSUN back in the day I would often take the bus here and then take the train to my parents for the weekend. It was just so easy! Only downside is that there isn't too much information as far as taking Metrolink. And the schedule sheet for Amtrak is quite small so if there's a few people reading it, you'll just have to wait your turn. read more

Extremely poor lighting and unsafe parking lot. Many homeless individuals and no security guard. My daughter and I were followed/chased to our car last night. Luckily we were highly alert and ran to our car, locked our doors and was able to drive away before he reached our car. Called Amtrak Security/complaint line and person who answered the phone did not seem to care. I'm sure if we were not alert, we would have been robbed or worse. The good thing about this station is that there is ample free parking. On the negative side there is nobody whatsover on duty to help you. Also, if you get there well in advance of your train, beware that there are no public restrooms. There are self service vending machines for Metrolink, but if you are going on Amtrak you must buy your tickets online ahead of time. I'd have to say the worse thing about this train station is the walk from the parking lot. The parking lot runs North and South as do the train tracks with the station being at the far end, so if there are a lot of people at the station, and you end up parking at the north end, you need to allow for time to walk all the way to the south end. There is a small build with a coffee shop, a daycare center, and I believe one of the district offices for Council District 12 is there if they haven't moved already. From time to time I have also seen the far end of the parking lot be used for staging movie production vehicles and trailers. But, all in all it's just an outdoor train station. read more

I've noticed an increase in transients at the Chattsworth station. I think this place could use better security and more of a police presence. Today I found a syringe on the sidewalk as I was walking towards the train and a transient was sleeping nearby it. Every single bench on track 2 is broken, leaving commuters with nothing to sit on while waiting for the train. Track 1 has amazing benches. It looks like they may have had a renovation many years ago but forgot about track 2. I'm not sure why this station is being neglected so much. read more

I've been commuting by mass transit a lot more the past year. I am making note of this stop because it ha s alot of things going for it that separates it from a regular stop along the route of the Amtrak or Metrolink rail. This is one of the few stops that has a nearby building which houses bathrooms and a little cafe. Sure its crappy pastries and swill for coffee, but when you're waiting an hour for a train sometimes those things are luxuries. Its even worse when you're stuck on a trainstop that offers none of these amenities. Additionally, if you're travelling by bus to other parts of the west valley, this is a very useful spot. It's a hub for many metro bus lines that stop right in the parking lot of this train station. you can get from woodland hills to chatsworth without much fuss. bonus: free parking. bonus bonus: munch box, right up the street. read more

I tried to take the train out of Chatsworth and it was a NIGHTMARE. First, I missed my train because I didn't see any open doors or hear any announcement for boarding, so I just stood there watching as the train left without me. Then had to wait another 2 1/2 hours for the next train. There are no signs directing you where to wait or giving any indication of what's going on. When the next train came, it was on the opposite track from where it theoretically should have been and we all had to RUN to the other side across some treacherous rocks to make sure the train didn't leave without us (they are VERY impatient with passengers). read more

I've been to many stations across Southern California and this one by far is the cleanest and most organized one. It's nice and taken care of, and the staff is quite friendly (even if you are here at the break of dawn.) The coffee shop inside is an extra perk. If you're taking the 158 Sherman Oaks bus Spencer is the driver you want to ride with! He is knowledgeable and quick to start a conversation. Oh and just a side note, no restrooms so run down to Ralph's! read more

Probably one of the best places to park your car for either a Amtrak trip or just park and ride. it's very convenient to park and ride whether it's the train, commuter express or Metro buses. They also have multiple bike locker options. There's also a morning cafe open to help serve your coco craving and or coffee. They also have a museum, and nursery. This place is so multi functional. There is plenty of parking with a north lot and a south lot. south is more for the metro riders and north is for the train and other bus lines. with this being a big hub there always seem to be big police presence, so it's cool to park and not be too worried about your car when you get back. read more

Clean and quiet. The train came on time and left on time. As a novice, the ticket machine wasn't all that user friendly (who is going to know to look for Ontario under "E" alphabetically), but that's not the station's fault. There's a lot of parking, but the shape of the lot means you'll have a long walk to the platform. read more

I couldn't find any information on the website about parking long-term at the station so I just want everyone to know that the long-term parking is 72 hours max. Fortunately I only needed it for 48. But, if you plan to leave your car there for a week you're going to be in a panic because you can't! This was a very nice outdoor waiting area/station. I really couldn't decided what to give this place in terms of a score... hahaha... so I guess, (oh my god!) that it gets 3 stars. I really need to think of something new to say... Anyway, all this aside, this place isn't half bad. When I graduated from high school, I was going to UC Irvine. I am really close with my mom, so I didn't want to move down there. I didn't really "know" any one that was going there...and I am just really asocial....and I'm not interested in meeting new people. At this time, I didn't have a car...so we figured on the train...well, this is what my father decided on. So I don't know... we'd get here at the crack of dawn...and I'd take the train to Union Station. I'd transfer to another train to go down to Irvine. I think the whole trip took a couple hours? I am not sure now...and I did this for a couple months. The trains are pretty nice... they're comfy...I would listen to my ipod (when I actually had one...my old U2 one..hahaha!) and read or something of the sort. I was intrigued with the feeling of "driving" backwards... so I'd always sit on that side. The trains were more packed in the morning with commuters but would thin out after transferring at Union Station...which on a side note has amazing architecture...and I was able to thoroughly scope that place out. Also, "riding the train", has some sort of old-fashioned appeal, at least to me... so I did romanticize the idea into a film noir movie. Anyway, it turns out that I hated Irvine...the school, the people, the commute...so this ended after a couple months. I started to get more serious about my own business with my new found freedom after school... so I don't know... but I always wondered if I was doing the right thing. It was something that plagued the back of my mind for the longest time. Well, I am not sure now if it were several months or a while later... but after I stopped taking the train, they had that big accident in Chatsworth on my sister's birthday....and if I were still commuting by train...I would have been on that train, it was the same train that I took and was the same time and day... and the kicker for me was the number... 1111 or 111....something like that, so I've come to terms with this being the right thing for me. I know it's silly... but to me it means something. Suffice to say, I'd probably be somewhat afraid to ride the train now... read more

I'd say I'm fairly savvy when it comes to train stations, but I was definitely confused by Chatsworth Station. There's no signage (at least in any sensible place, and I walked around the whole station) as to which lines depart from which tracks. Other than the one security guard who hangs out inside the depot, there are no employees. There is a man with a bullhorn who announces the trains and their schedule, although he doesn't seem to be an actual employee. Fortunately, I was able to chat with some other riders who let me know which track I needed to use. I thought the station was decent during the day, and despite the lack of a restroom, the depot at least was a fine place to sit and wait. However, I would avoid the station at night. As other reviews mention, it is not well-lit, and definitely seems like it could be unsafe. I would make sure you can either quickly get to your car, or have a means of transportation that you can get to right away. I would not want to wait there at night. read more

The Chatsworth train station is a real gem. I have been taking the Metrolink train from Chatsworth to LA Union Station to get to work about once a week. I noticed that most of the train stops do not have a building next to the train stop to rest and relax while you are waiting for your train. The building has a waiting area where you can get away from the weather outdoors. There is also restrooms and a business called the Whistle stop where you can get coffee or a snack before you ride your train. There is a travel agency and a childcare facility housed in the building. There is always plenty of parking here. This station is also used as one of the pickup spots for the Hollywood Bowl, which is so convenient to have close by. read more

Interesting station with many helpful transit connections and regular service! Make connections to the Orange Line Busway, Amtrak and or Metrolink here. Can feel extremely desolate and creepy at off-peak hours especially in the evening. Lighting is poor at night but there is a security guard stationed inside the station normally. Restrooms are hit or miss, sometimes the security guard has them open, most likely he has the restrooms locked though. No need to worry about parking because of the massive lots surrounding the station! I travel a few times a month by train for business. Unfortunately, one on my trips takes me through this dreadful station. No restrooms, no foodservice, no vending machines and no water fountain. To top it off they have this crusty old codger that runs around with a bullhorn barking train arrival times. Seems random as they also have a functioning PA system. It's unfortunate as the facility is historic and very charming and could be amazing with some services. Avoid this stop if you can! read more

Absolutely terrible. This week alone in the mornings, 3 buses have just plain not shown up. There are others sitting there, but they don't leave. People pay to get on here to get where they have to go, be it work, school or somewhere else. It's unfortunate we are paying into a system that just leaves us high and dry. Saw a couple of negative comments on the station security personnel. Very helpful young man, not rude just doing his job and dealing with all kinds of issues specially the homeless. I haven't had a negative interaction with him. He totally helped me out with train info and told me that the reason the restrooms are locked was because of the homeless doing drugs in there. I totally understand that. I use this station everyday and thankfully it is very convenient to travel back and forth to LA from there. read more

Plenty of parking, but there's no information about taking the Metrolink. My very first time here was a bit disastrous. I thought it would be like taking the L in Chicago with clear instructions, etc.. Nope. I came here with my parents to go to Burbank airport. We ended up buying the wrong card (the one for the bus). There was no human employee to help us navigate. After a bit of time, we finally found the tiny kiosk to buy the tickets. If there's a cafe, there's got to be a bathroom, right?
