21 minutes ago I just left there after being told that I had…read morebeen discharged back in January due to dispute with a staff member over the phone about my care. The dispute was not with Vicki Cooke my former NP, she had never talked to me about it, she was out of town during this time.... I guess it's common practice now to have no say so about your care. Regardless, you discharged me as a patient, fine, I will go someplace else... My complaint, you sent out a certified letter in January, or you say you did, you wouldn't show me the receipts. I never received any letter, why would I have shown up for an appnt if I had received it. I had an appnt scheduled on 6/14 since my last appnt in December of 2017. I received a call to confirm my appointment, I asked to change the appnt to today's date. Yesterday I received a call to confirm my appointment. I came in for my appnt, I was asked to update paper work and then taken back to a room.... It was then I was finally approached about the letter that was "sent" out in January. Vicki Cooke would not even come and talk to me. I was humiliated and all of this was over a dispute with a very rude staff member about antibiotics for a sinus infection. Today I came in with a black eye and a hurt shoulder from a fall yesterday, I thought I was going to have it looked at. . I guess I need to find a new doctor to take a look at it.... My advice to the staff there, if you discharge someone as a patient make sure your staff and the patient knows about it. And to Vicki Cooke, I suggest you take the time to talk to your patients before you make rash, uninformed decisions. I'm truly baffled at this, all over antibiotics for a sinus infection.

I have experienced nothing but kindness and care from Vicki and her staff. It's unusual for a Dr anymore to sit down with you and look you in the eyes and ask how you are doing.... This is a place that cares about their patients.

There is always someone available if you have a question about how to use a machine or proper way to do a move. If you get in a rut I recommend jumping into one or more of the classes that are part of your membership. We all need a little push sometime and after the burn of a good class I feel the drive that has kept me strong all these years. Keep up the good work. Expensive membership to have no sort of guest pass. I kindly asked her what I can do to get added on to my mom's card, she then replied that I didn't look like the women that was the cardholder..... my mother..... I understand staff does not control policy but I was trying to resolve the situation so maybe I can get back to my workout. She only mentioned a guest pass to me after I seemed upset with how she was speaking to me but even then she prestened the offer with enough attitude to knock me out. She seemed more worried about getting me out of the gym than resolving my issue. I'll make sure to go to literally any other gym in dalton it'll be half priced and you can bring in a guest and the staff probably won't spit in your face!

And then there were several years with the Y and even more years at The Sports Barn. Then along came COVID, working from home and slowly losing my motivation to exercise regularly. Sure, I went to some community fitness classes and played pickleball (broke a wrist), but it just wasn't the same and it wasn't consistent. In 2025 I had seven surgeries and was in a weakened physical state. At the encouragement of my daughter, I had a body composition analysis at FIT LIFEstyle. That was a real eye opener. Joanna, the owner and trainer, reviewed the results of my body scan with me and immediately started stressing the importance of exercise and doing it in a supervised environment. Her efforts weren't to increase the membership of the gym but a true and honest concern for my wellbeing. That day I joined a sixteen-week fitness plan being offered. Mind you, my arm was still in a sling due to a reverse total shoulder replacement, but that wasn't a deterrent for Joanna. She assessed my limitations/abilities and mapped out exercises geared specific for me. At first, going in to the gym with robust bodies doing amazing physical feats made me a little self-conscious. However, it didn't take long before I realized I wasn't the only person with physical limitations or the only person that needed modify exercises. Everyone works together and encourages one another. There is a true sense of camaraderie. All of the instructors are exceptional. They are well-trained, personable and truly care about helping you reach your goals. They give encouragement as well as provide form correction when needed. Their objectives are for you to have a good experience, get the most out of every exercise and avoid injury. When you finish a class, you leave with a sense of accomplishment and empowerment. FIT LIFEstyle has been a Godsend to me. Thank you JoAnna, Sunda and Dacia!! You're the best!!
