The show here was kind a like a play if you ask me complete with 4 actors and 4 actresses and even a piano player. It lasted for about an hour and a half. It was funny with some skits that even made you laugh. They probably had 4 or 5 skits and each was ended simply by someone running around the stage. Then, they would act out a different scene. This museum and performance hall features a beautiful array of Chattanooga Black history as well as showcasing the wealth of Black musical talent that has hailed from this wonderful city, including Bessie Smith herself! Each exhibit features tangible artifacts alongside highly informative digital displays with written information, as well as short documentaries playing in select areas. Mr. Elijah was our tour guide and he held a wealth of knowledge about the origination of the area, beginning with the Indigenous peoples that lived in the area, progressing through time. The galleries he led us through featured Chattanooga's greatest African-American movers and shakers, prominent entrepreneurs, important local historical events, and much more! I highly recommend anyone who loves Black history and loves Chattanooga to pay a visit to this powerful and inspiring establishment of historical and cultural celebration!

My husband and I agree that this is one of the best Christmas performances we have ever attended. If they are giving a spring concert, we will be there! Whatever Chattanooga has to do to keep this group performing they need to make it happen by supporting with their dollars and attendance. I was just so blown away by how poised and professional these young boys were throughout the performance. There were absolutely no shenanigans as they were totally focused on their teachers and instructors. I am a full grown woman and I don't have that kind of focus. They must have been tranquilized! I would guess that the boys were as young as seven and as old as 20, as it was a very varied group. I applaud and tip my hat to absolutely everyone who had a hand in staging this performance it was beautiful! It held my attention the entire time and I loved the variety of music from classics to modern day. Everything was on point from the set to the costumes. The Fort Payne Opera House, located at 510 Gault Avenue North in Fort Payne, DeKalb County in the U.S. state of Alabama built during the industrial boom in 1889. The Fort Payne Opera House is the only one in the State of Alabama still in use. The establishment has been used as a movie theater, live theater and a public forum. The Opera House still hosts live theatrical events and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the National Register of 19th Century Theaters in America. Completely restored, the Opera House is a cultural center of the community. Located on Fault Avenue (main street down Fort Payne) The Fort Payne Opera House is a historic building in Fort Payne, Alabama. It was built in 1889 and continues to be in use today, thanks to regular maintenance and upkeep. Completed during the region?s industrial boom, the Fort Payne Opera House is the oldest theater in Alabama that is still in use today. Through its more than a century of existence, it has already been used for various purposes including as a movie house, a live theatre, and even as a public forum. It has truly contributed a lot in the development of the area. Today, the Fort Payne Opera House is still open to the public.
