Korean fried chicken with sweet chilli sauce
    Yee Gan O.

If you've looked at my profile, you'll know that I'm a big fan of fried chicken. I fell in love with the other KFC (Korean fried chicken) on a holiday in Seoul and that love was enhanced by visits to Bonchon in the USA I was alerted to CheeMc by one of London's food bloggers. He described some yummy KoFC, so I made an expedition to south east London CheeMc is located on Walworth Rd, a cosmopolitan neighbourhood located a short walk south of Elephant & Castle Tube station. I passed Chinese, Indian, Caribbean, Latin American, African and Vietnamese restaurants on the way down to CheeMc I'm glad that the blogger gave me a heads up because I'd never have gone in here. Even with a heads up, I managed to walk past the place on the first pass. When I arrived at 8.15, the place was already rammed. It had the healthy buzz of a good Asian restaurant - lots of noise and hilarity, surrounded by lots of good food and family. The clientele was almost exclusively made up of Korean students, a good sign Despite the chaotic bonhomie, the smiley waitresses remained steadfastly cheerful, responding to all requests promptly. As there was no space when I arrived, I asked for some chicken to take away. The waitress warned me that the food would take 30 minutes and as it turned out, a space did open up in that time. I sat down and added an order of noodles. I wanted to try the jajan noodles with black bean sauce but the waitress said there was a problem with the noodles, so chef had taken it off the menu. I like that - internal quality control. I therefore went for japchae (glass noodles) with pork, which had a satisfying depth of umami There's a big choice of fried chicken with various sauces. The waitress said that the most popular was with sweet chilli sauce. The only shame was that the chicken only comes in whole or half chicken sizes. As a single diner, I would have liked to have tried more than one flavour. Not if the other KFC uses midget chickens but here, the KoFC half chicken was chopped into around 10 easy to handle pieces, which would have added up to a big chick When it arrived, it rekindled great memories of my trips to Seoul and the USA. Light crispy batter with tender chicken inside, enhanced by the sauce. The best KoFC I've had in London yet I will be back. Just don't all create a crush so that I can't get a table!

The food was amazing, I don't mind walking 20mins from my uni everyday to enjoy a lunch here XD

Amazing food. The portions are absolutely huge and everything we ate was amazing. I'm a vegetarian and there were a lot of options for me.

My friend and I came here and shared a half and half fried chicken (sweet soy and honey butter) and a galbi tang.

The interior gives you a sense of being in an underground bar somewhere in Asia, and it comes complete with Pucca dolls nestled on top of the booze bottles behind the bar. There is seating both upstairs and downstairs, but given how crazy it gets, if you're planning on coming, book in advance. I've eaten here twice, and I can safely say that the food is legit! It's surprisingly authentic given the location, and the drinks aren't half-bad, either. The Bibimbap with Bulgogi Beef is one of my favorites, thus far, with the perfect ratio of rice to beef, kimchi to veggies. It's one hearty dish, so come hungry. The Signature Fried Chicken is also done to perfection, and if you've ever had Korean Fried Chicken before, you know what I'm talking about. It's not expensive, but sadly, you only get 2 pieces. Believe me, you will want more. I can also vouch for the cocktails. Being a girly drinker myself, I can't pass up a delicious fruity cocktail from people who know how to put it together well. However, they also have a great Happy Hour with some of the cheapest beer you'll find to pair perfectly with your meal. That is how they do it in Korea anyway, isn't it?

Ordered the Tteok-bokki, japchae and tofu stew which came out in ten minutes. The standout were the rice cakes for being chewy but still flavor fully impressed in the sauce. The stew was great for the windy weather but not a stand out. Japchae noodles were decent, chewy, springy but again missing some flavor. Service was subpar most because we asked for water twice and didn't receive it. Understand that they were rushing to close but it takes like a minute Solid food and good value for money.

The food for the lunch special was bland and flavorless (maybe the bulgogi needs the spice). I was the first person in the establishment so when I was seated the employees were just staring at me eating for the whole 30 minutes that I was there (a bit uncomfortable). I first thought it was because they were checking to time out giving me the check, but I ended up approaching them to pay once finished. I held too high of expectations for the lunch menu, featuring blandness soup with an oversized spoon (didn't finish at all), okay tasting side salads, and flavorless main dish.

It was sold recently and the downhill has begun. One packed for lunch, mostly by Koreans, it was sparsely populated on a nice summer day. I tried the Kimchi Jiggae, a comfort food of Korea esp for a quick satisfying lunch. Fermented kimchi gives it a wonderful umami sour and a touch of heat. The dish itself was piping hot, perfect amount of spice. Some of the meat was precooked and cold inside, though. Rice was too dry, especially for lunch opening. What's Jiggae like? It's Korean Korhelyleve (Hungarian "Hangover" soup. Szegediner Gulasch, Kapuska, or Bigos. Ambiance is clean but run down, since I was here last about four years ago. Repaint! Really fix your bench seats with something cleanable and easy to get in and out of. Service, compared to then? Night and day worse. No warmth. The server is pleasant but she's just doing her job, between passes on the cell phone. Good for the train station. Bad for here. Sad. I won't be back.

I particularly like how they blend natural flavors with a modern twist -- it's clear that a lot of thought goes into their product design and presentation. While I haven't had the chance to visit their physical store or try every item, the brand's reputation and customer feedback speak volumes. From what I've seen, most people enjoy the quality and consistency, and I personally appreciate the emphasis on health-conscious ingredients. I would love to see even more variety or bundle options in the future, but overall, Lime Orange is doing a great job. If you're looking for something fresh, stylish, and a bit different, they're worth checking out.
