I visited this spa at the end of December 2010, but have just recently discovered the awesomeness that is yelp. I remembered the bad experience I had and the review I wrote on google, and I wanted to re-post my review on yelp to let the community know my experience at this spa because they post on coupon sites frequently. What an awful experience. I bought a voucher on dealfind for $50 that included 45 minute massage, mani, pedi, and eye brow threading. My appointment started half an hour late. The massage was not bad, but it was only 30 minutes and my hair and face got covered in massage oil. She insisted on doing the manicure in the same room as the massage, and insisted that I lie down while she did the manicure. She put a towel on my sweater and used my stomach as the "manicure table". There was only one lamp in the room, and it was flickering and shining right in my face. I looked at my nails after she finished two coats of nail polish and the skin around my nails was covered in polish. She was going to try to clean them up using a pad with polish remover, but I decided to end the appointment and asked her to remove the polish and then left without getting the pedi or eye brow threading. Not willing to risk my eye brows at a place like this. I can't imagine getting laser or microdermabrasion done here. Dealfind / groupon / teambuy / etc buyer beware. Unfortunately there is no chance of a refund for poor service when paying through these companies. This spa is the reason I will never buy an online coupon for a place I have never been before. read more

I was very skeptical to buy a coupon after all the negative reviews but was surprised to find my experience here a positive one. The establishment is clean and very professional, the staff very friendly. I got what I was promised. I was taken in on time and overall have no complaints. Wanted to get my brows done cause I had the afternoon away from my kiddos and decided to stop in. Came and sat down as I heard a few women in the back and assumed someone would come and greet me. Sat there for a good 10-15 waiting and no one Came to greet me at the front. I could hear people in the back chatting away. I guess I will take my business else where.. I was a bit nervous after reading some reviews about this place. But I found my visit here to be awesome. I purchased a voucher deal for a Brazilian. I've had brazilian's for years, and have tried many places, and had both excellent and nightmare experiences. I found Chehra to have a nice ambiance and the staff were friendly and professional. The spa was very clean, and despite arriving 20 minutes early, I got in right away for my appointment. I actually was done and left, before I was even schedule to get in. The service was quick (as it should be) and thorough. Definitely felt like I got really amazing value with my voucher deal, and very happy with my experience here. I'd certainly consider returning for services or other specials. read more

Mani and pedi is overpriced and frankly the service was lazy. I was going to have a Manicure and pedicure but after the manicure I decided to skip the pedicure all together. $45 for a manicure with a dirty, worn out nail file. When I asked the manicurist if she could use a better file, she told me that "they" (I am assuming the owners) dont provide them so she had to use her own and thats all she had. The nail polish was applied sloppily and started to chip before I had even pay. All that being said my sister did liked her massage. They have moved to a new location from 16th ave to 37 ave NE. There are a lot of spas in Calgary that provide excellent service so I don't feel the need to go back. read more

SCAMMMMM!!!!! I bought a laser deal from teambuy (or dealfind) which was supposed to be unlimited one hour treatment for unlimited body parts for one year!!!!! when I went there the first session they told me they could only cover my full legs in one hour and whatever I get in the first session is what I get in the next sessions. I said ok and went ahead with the treatment. The lady worked so slow that day to convince me that was all they could do in an hour. Next session when I went there they did the same treatment in 10 minutes!!!!!! and that is still not the worse part. I have had so many laser treatments so far and when you tell them that it hurts they decrease the degree to make it less painful for you ! but this lady sets the devise on a high degree for me to make it as painful as she could and when I ask her to decrease it she says " this is the lowest"! dauhhhhh this is impossible to get such a pain in the lowest degree. and she did this for 3 sessions so that I had to quit the treatment after a while. I am sure she did this on purpose. Please do yourself a favor and don't go there! they are rude and ignorant with horrible service. This has been the worst place. Do Not buy any coupon or their so called deals and they lack customer service. I could hear the fights between the staff and owner from my room. She took a walk in client in between my treatment and was made to wait for 30 mins. they have a nice facility but use cheap products and when i ask what product do they use, she told me a product name but applied a different one from a noname packaging. overall this has been the worst spa i have been to. I recently got a Brazilian wax done at this spa. Needless to say, I will not come back, nor will I recommend this place for anyone else to get a Brazilian done. While the employee was nice enough, she got wax all over my hands, my arms, my hip, and almost got wax on my shirt. She burnt me several times with wax, even after me repeatedly telling her that it was too hot. The appointment started late, even though I arrived 10 minutes early and they weren't that busy...and lasted for almost 40 minutes. 40 minutes of pure torture! I haven't experienced a Brazilian this painful until now! A Brazilian experience should never be that way. I know that she made me bleed, as I saw blood on the strips repeatedly. And the extreme tenderness of my lady bits confirmed how brutal this experience was. And, when I got home, I saw that the pain may not have even been worth it, as my area was still spotted with hair!!! I've gotten Brazilians numerous times before and have tried several different places. For the price that they charge for a Brazilian ($75), I would much rather take my money to a place like Frilly Lilly, where they are prompt, don't burn me with wax, don't leave wax on areas that aren't being waxed, wax all the hair properly, and are quick! My money would've definitely been well spent somewhere else. I think I'll stick with Frilly Lilly. read more

Firstly, i believe the good reviews must be fake. This was not a good experience. My appointment started 45 minutes late. I watched as they took walk ins before me, obviously because I had a dealfund voucher. I did not get my massage, they refused it because I was pregnant. I suggested a foot and shoulder massage instead and they agreed but then never performed it. They tried to upsell me before I even got in the door. They left me in the room alone for my mask for over 15 minutes, i had to get up and call for her to come back. They could have performed the massage then but instead she was socializing with other staff in the lunchroom. I was very disappointed to have my time wasted. First they argued with her as to the value of the voucher (despite it being printed on the voucher) then they refused to honour the full amount. Just wanting to share my recent experience... I found spa to be clean and modern with a relaxing atmosphere and pleasant staff. For this reason I hate to give it such a low rating, but I would never go back or recommend it. The manicure I got was dreadful. Although the manicurist was very nice, the polish job she did was worse than what I could have done on myself using my left hand. I had no choice but to remove the polish once I got home. The polish was off the nail and on my skin, the finish was tacky and my nail lengths were all uneven. I'm not sure how much experience she has and if maybe manicures are just not her specialty, but I was really surprised by the lack of quality. read more

I agree with Laura R. This place has very unprofessional staff and standards. I also got a voucher for facial, mani and pedi. My appmt started 25 min late. The pedi was not bad, but I was charged an extra $10 to remove my callus with a "special pray" but honestly the day after I could still feel some callus left off and should not this be a part of the pedi? The mani was a horrible experience, it was given to me while I was having my pedi and I guess the "air" was the mani table, because I was just instructed to hold my hand in the air and turn to the side so she could give me the mani. Most of my nails were filed uneven, and the mani did not even last a day. The worst was the "facial" the massage table linens were dirty, stained, disgusting, of course they kept the light off so I did not see it, but when we were done I turned the light on to look for my hair clip and then I saw it all! I just wanted to run away! the floor was dirty with hair and everything in the room was dusty. The towels they use were stained too. Not to mention I was left with them on my face for over 15 min and the room was freezing cold, the towel was wet and cold on my face! Isn't temperature important in a facial? It seems to good to be true because it is. $198 "deal" for $7000 value? Seriously. They offered a daily deal that I bought and thankfully got refunded after going for the most ineffective laser treatment I've ever had. The technician told me she was limited to 3 laser "shots"; obviously effective laser treatment isn't done in 30 seconds. What is needed is for all of the hair in the area to be treated. That should be a given, but not for them. read more

Very clean, nice staff, peaceful (though I wish there were better noise barrier insulation in the wrap room). I had a chocolate facial, lavender body scrub & paraffin wax wrap! Pure bliss! I bought a coupon for microdermabrasion for Chehra. Since I know how badly these spas need the revenue generated by purchases in addition to the coupon, I began getting regular facials there as well, which were just ok. REASON FOR ONE STAR: I was talked into getting lash extensions, against my better judgement. I had a 45 minute discussion with the girl regarding my concerns (damage to my own lashes, upkeep required, etc), and she assured me I was an excellent candidate and would definitely not experience any of those issues. In the first week, the lashes all fell off, so I returned and was told they had used the wrong kind of extensions. I paid for a fill with the 'right' lashes, and again they all fell off. I returned in another week and discussed the problem with the manager, who assured me third time would be a charm, so I paid for another fill, and they also sold me a tiny (maybe 2ml) bottle of 'serum' for $35. After one use, the serum BURNT my face, and AGAIN, the lashes all fell off! Also, I noticed there was nothing but stubs left of my natural lashes, and some spots were completely bald. When I went back for the final time, I was told they would not give me a refund or exchange on the serum as it had been opened, and that I shouldn't have started getting lash extensions in the first place as my natural lashes were too fine and thin. Keep in mind this is after paying full price for a new set and full price for three fills, one week apart. TOTAL SCAM!! I've since been to a reputable lash place who has told me they used glue with formaldehyde and that is why my natural lashes are ruined. When I asked to speak to the manager and/or owner yesterday, I received a call back from the receptionist telling me they would not be doing anything about the situation. Period. Also, be aware that they're opening a new 'beauty school' in the NE and recruiting both students and clients to practice on. My advice? Avoid the place like the plague!! I have NO lashes, burnt skin and am out almost $1000 to these guys for my trouble. :( read more

After leading me to the massage room to change, I was left there for 20 minutes on my own. When the massage finally started, it only lasted 20 minutes. I purchased my laser hair removal package of 6 and was on my third session when they advised me(while she performed procedure) that this would be my last!!! On my first appt. I discussed with the 2 ladies (one the technician the other was owner/manager) which treatment area I was to get done. I wanted my chin area primarily but asked if they could also do my upper lip at the same time due to the small area and bear mind they only zap upper lip twice. It was agreed that I was to receive 6 of the said treatments. So, at that 3rd appt. finding out I was now screwed as neither area has changed and I would have to repay to hopefully be hair free after atleast 3 more. They blamed this misunderstanding on a language barrier/misunderstanding issue. When I talked with owner/manager she said this service was expensive and costing them too much money!!! So in essence they run deals that they realize later it's costing them too much money to honor. DO NOT USE THIS SPA! This is the most unprofessional, rude experience I have every had. The manager is rude, obnoxious & only concerned about making the most money for herself. My friend and I bought manis/pedis for a year and have had problem after problem with this place: 1) It was not explicitly described as an "express" mani/pedi and immediately after each appointment (which consisted of a quick soak, trim & polish change), my nails chipped & snagged. Every month they tried to up-sell us and complained of my dry cuticles & too-short nails. 2) We lost one month of our "year's worth of manicure and pedicures" because they were booked up for the following month and wouldn't add on another appointment. They also let us rebook once but then told us that she could cancel our next appointment on us if she wanted to (but so 'kindly' wouldn't) because we booked 2 appointments too close together. 3) As a mother of 3 and a husband who works late, it was hard to schedule in appointments. When I showed up for one and was told they were running a little bit behind, I waited an HOUR, went home without my session at all because I had to get home to my kids & was pretty much told, 'tough luck' by the manager. 4) The final straw was when I was called last week (3 days before my weekend appointment - we ended up booking our entire year all at once so we could get the rest of our service in) to be told my appointment was being cancelled because the manager had more important, full paying clients coming in for a bridal party!! She went on to complain that she has to pay her employees, rent, expenses, etc. & she wasn't making any money on her dealfind clients. I was outraged and told her that she was the one who put out the the deal and she needed to honor this commitment. I paid for the deal! She said no and my appointment was cancelled and there was nothing I could do about it. I have never been treated so badly or had so many rude encounters as I have with this lady, and I am not one to usually complain of such things.
