It can be dirty, and there were parts of the bridge that felt a little dicey here and there, so my advice would be to be cautious if you're walking alone at night. I also think it might be nice to have a more direct way down, rather than walking in that downward spiral they built. It takes quite some time to make your way down to street level if you walk that ramp, and it might be nice to have a stairwell that is easily accessible for pedestrians.

What was most amazing is how this area has evolved over time. Once green and full of thriving plant life, it is now home to a park and a community center, in addition to the museum. Admission is free. They are open on the first Sunday of the month from 1-4 pm. Park in the community center parking lot and take the trail down.

I knew that a few house fronts used in popular films were located in the area, including the famed Michael Myers home from the "Halloween" horror franchise. The home was rescued from demolition and moved to its current location, where it now serves as an office building behind the South Pasadena light rail station. Upon arrival, the sky was almost dark so everything was perfectly spooky. My initial plan was to walk around the outside of the home & post the video on TikTok. But as I made my way toward the corner where the home is situated, I noticed a small film crew with a couple tripods. I figured they were recording something for social media too, as it's not unusual to see that type of thing in L.A.. But I received an extra-special surprise immediately after seeing the famed Michael Myers mask atop another tripod. A young man dressed in Myers' signature coveralls appeared & told me he was shooting footage for his TikTok page with the group I saw earlier. And get this...he offered to put his mask on for me & suggested that I film him walking down the front porch! My timing couldn't have been better & it gave my little video the fear factor I wanted. Fall is just around the corner, so now's the time to see the house for yourself. And who knows? Maybe you'll get lucky & run into Michael Myers because apparently horror movie legends understand the importance of social media, too.

There are 45 Mid-Century Modern homes in the neighborhood, built from 1935-1968, designed by Neutra, Ennis, Kenneth Nishimoto, Harwell Hamilton Harris, etc. There are other home styles in this area, including California Ranch, Spanish, etc. Each home is unique. Start on La Loma at Poppy Peak Dr. and walk up Poppy Peak Dr. Enjoy the winding streets but be careful because there are no sidewalks and visibility is limited at times because of the hairpin turns. It's not too steep. Take in the views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Admire the majestic trees. Part of the charm of the homes is the way that they're built into the hillside. Many homes are multi-level with large windows and low rooflines. Most of the homes are well-maintained and have lovely landscaping too. Towards the top, Poppy Peak Rd. circles around and back to the lower part of Poppy Peak Dr. It's easy to find parking in the neighborhood. Also, you may want to check out the Secret Stairs near there if you're in the area (they are listed on Yelp).
