"AMAZING, phenomenal, FUN" are just some of the adjectives I'll use in this review to describe our experience with Cherie, Hedley and the rest of team Cheriefoto! Cherie, Hedley, et al. shot our engagement shoot in the streets of Downtown LA this past April and subsequent wedding at the chic and beautiful SLS Beverly Hills Hotel this past July! My fiancee and I decided on doing something "funky" and unique with our engagement shoot. So collaboratively, we shot near L.A.'s Arts District where there are a wealth of beautiful, mural-like graffiti walls throughout the neighborhood. It made for an inexhaustible amount of cool, hip and "natural" backdrops that allowed for fun and creative poses! We also managed to squeeze in some indoor studio time at the famous Jesus Wall nearby (which we highly recommend and has a very reasonable hourly rate) to "change it up" with some sexy, playful and romantic setups. Suffice it to say, we laughed and played so much--especially when Cherie and Hedley would jump into some of the shots with us--that the most difficult thing for us to do would be selecting photos for printing. We posted some on our social networking sites for friends and family and the responses we were got were tremendous! On to our wedding. We were soo excited to be having our wedding ceremony and reception at the SLS Beverly Hills Hotel for various reasons. Not only did it fit our personality but talk about a plethora of great rooms and decor to shoot with! The hotel was designed by famed hotelier and artist, Philippe Starck. The interior design throughout the hotel has elements of chic, "retro-Euro" backdrops, furniture and wall art...with a variety of monkeys being a central image throughout the decor and "look" of the hotel. It is a photographers dream studio! The hotel was kind enough to give us almost complete "carte blanche" to shoot throughout The Bazaar and other outstanding places throughout the building. It made for some visually stunning art-house caliber photos. We even had our "first look" reveal photographed in such a unique and beautiful way, it was magical! The wedding ceremony and subsequent reception were all the more fantastic! Cherie and Hedley managed to capture so many great, candid and profound moments of our wedding experience. Wow! My sister-in-law and I had such an incredible time during our session. Cherie and Hedley both made us feel so comfortable and sexy that we really were able to relax and have fun with it. I do strongly recommend bringing alcohol, like champagne! :) Virginia, the makeup artist was well worth it. The smoky eyes and long lashes made a huge difference in the shots and there was no way we would even be able to do it half as well as she did. My sister-in-law and I each had our own private sessions, so we didn't have to feel self-conscious during our shoots. They made us feel so comfortable and confident that we were much more adventurous than we thought we would be. Take their advice and be willing to take their suggestions. The outcome is worth it. They were also very encouraging of any poses we wanted. So if you are looking for a specific shot, bring it, and don't hesitate to ask for that shot. Amazed by the pictures I got from Cheriefoto! They really know how to capture your best look and make things as comfortable as possible. From the start I was made to feel relaxed. I totally recommend getting your make-up done...even if you know how to apply it yourself it's nice to sit back and have a pro glamify you. The smoky eyes really are a must, especially with the lashes! I had lashes! lol...the make-up artist (which I unfortunately didn't get her name) really did a great job. Hedley was my main photographer and then Cherie came in to take some shots as well. And both are super down to earth and genuinely want to get the best shot for you. My husband retired from the Army and was celebrating a milestone birthday so I really wanted to do something special for him. I came across the idea of doing a boudoir photo shoot and thought that it would be something he would love (and would surprise the hell out of him!) but I had so many reservations about actually going through with it. I did extensive research on photographers in my area and came across The Boudoir Cafe. After looking at the photos on their website I knew that if I was going to actually go through with it this was the place I wanted to get it done. Cherie and Hedley's work are not just pictures, they are a work of art and none of the other photographers photo's even came close. I emailed Cherie to get information on the shoot and she responded back right away. Her amazing personality shines through, even through email, and I felt so much better after letting her know some of my reservations about getting these types of photos done. She sent me a great guide with tips to help me prepare for my shoot and really calmed my nerves. I have always struggled to appreciate my "curves" and especially now, as a mother of 2, I definitely have insecurities. Despite all this, I decided to just go for it. I have to say, even preparing for the shoot was nice. I took the time to buy some beautiful lingerie, get my nails done, and spend time doing things for myself which I hardly find time to do in between school drop-offs, homework, sports, and caring for my husband who was injured during his military service. I decided to travel from Nevada to LA to shoot with Cherie and Hedley in person and I'm so happy I did. When I arrived at their studio Cherie came out and greeted me. I already felt like I knew her from our email correspondence so it wasn't awkward at all. The studio is super cute and has such an intimate feel. I was able to talk to Cherie for awhile and then met Hedley, who is so incredibly kind. I didn't know how I would feel shooting with a man but they are so professional that I didn't worry about anything at all. My makeup artist was so sweet and did a beautiful job on my hair and makeup, and they even brought me a snacks and a drink while I was getting ready. I felt like a movie star by the time I was ready to shoot! I can't say that I wasn't nervous but after being in front of the camera for a few minutes all of that just kind of went away. I loved how they both told me how to pose and guided me through the shoot, especially because I have never done anything like this and had no idea what I was doing! You can see the passion they both have for their art and although they must have done this a million times they still were so excited to get that perfect pose and perfect shot. It was amazing to see them switch the camera lenses and lights and sets so flawlessly. I also just adored the love they have for each other, it was so inspiring. By the end I was exhausted but had such a great time. I know it sounds corny but I left feeling like I got that sexiness back that is so easy to lose in the monotony of every day life. Cherie sent me the proofs of my pictures in less than 2 days and I was blown away, even before any retouching had been done. I had no idea how I was going to feel about them but I LOVED them. I could hardly believe it was me!! They were sexy and beautiful and classy all at the same time. My husband just about lost his mind when he saw them and it was awesome to see that fire again. I let him pick the final pictures that are going to be edited and he must've gone over the pictures 10 times just admiring them all. He tells me constantly how beautiful I am to him but to be able to give him these pictures that are totally out of the norm was so much fun. It reminded me of when we first started dating and all of the excitement our relationship had before kids and the stresses of life. In the end, although these pics were initially for him, I feel like they were just as much for me. I love the confidence they have brought me. I was able to see myself in such a different light and realize that I'm beautiful the way I am, even if I don't have the "supermodel stick thin figure" I thought was needed to feel that way. Fantastic Team!! Namely Sarah the hair and makeup artist and Hedley the assistant photographer. I arrived for my boudoir session as a young couple with a new baby was being photographed. They were beautiful and appeared wealthy. As Sarah Lauterbach (incredible artist) did my makeup, Cherie poked her head out to greet me. She was lovely and polite. A man named Hedley came and offered me wine. I gladly accepted, as I was nervous to do my first boudoir session... As I was sipping and Sarah was wrapping up my makeup and hair, the young couple had finished. Cherie appeared claiming she just Had to get the necklace the client was wearing and would return in a few hours. What? Hedley appeared again and said that he would take his time and would make me feel relaxed and get the best shots. What?? I had thought a woman was going to do the session. Obviously, a man photographing me scantily clad was not what I had envisioned... But, I tried to remain open-minded and got dressed for my session. Long story short, he was professional, helpful, calming, jhad a knack for capturing the right angle and got some really great shots. Hedley was absolutely wonderful. Then came time to pay. I had a Groupon (perhaps the reason things went down the way they did), good for one photo only, so I asked for the cost of all the photos on a disk. I was told a very high number- understandable, it is their art, but I was overwhelmed at the price. Other photographers I have worked with usually charge less than half that... I asked if I could view the photos before committing. She said she didn't want to go through the effort without a commitment. I have a special needs child and am a single mom- I simply couldn't afford it. What she said next- "Well, I'm in this to make money"- really got to me in a negative way. She arranged a payment plan with me and we ended up working it out... I was late for a party so ran there... during the party I got an accusatory email from the establishment asking why I gave them them a bad review on the Internet "after they treated me so nice." What?? I was at a party! I hadn't posted a review yet!! In the end they apologized profusely for the accusation... I still felt shaken up over the whole ordeal... But overall, the photos were great- the experience was just... Odd. But everyone has their day, right?? So, I'm turning 40 in November. I'm not really dreading it per se; I'm actually kinda looking forward to it. "Not too shabby for an almost 40 year old", I'm thinking...but who's to say what I'm going to look like 5 years from now let alone next year. Everyday I'm getting older and I may not look as presentable tomorrow as I do right now. Portrait. Good, good...but the body is still fairly in tact also got to document that too...BOUDOIR PHOTOS! Deciding on the photos was the easy part. Finding someone who would do a good job was another story. So I did what any normal person would do and googled "boudoir photography los angeles". I sifted through many a website, searching for the "one". I just randomly picked Cheriefoto, clicked on "sexy things" and voila, I had found the "one". The photography was artistic and it didn't look like it was done with a point and shoot (which some photos on other websites looked like). I spoke with Cherie on the phone and quickly set up an appointment. My first question to her was if those were "real" people on her website or models? She assured me that they were real people and I would look good too. Cherie was great. So full of energy. Her partner Hedley was wonderful also. I was sold and a date was set. I had approximately a month to get ready cause darn it, I wanted to look good. On the day of the shoot, I worked out, got my hair done and showed up fresh faced at Cherie's studio. Stephanie, her makeup artist, worked wonders on my face (I even learned a new product to use for my unruly hair). After my hair and makeup were complete, I changed into my first "outfit". Boy howdy was I nervous, I mean I was in barely nothing in a room of virtual strangers. But Hedley and Cherie and Stephanie were wonderful at getting me to relax and have fun. Let me tell you, when those models say modeling is hard work, IT IS! I had to stick out my rump, suck in my gut (or as Stephanie would say "elongate your torso") and arch my back as much as possible. It was as hard as any yoga pose but I'm sure it was necessary to get desireable results. The shoot lasted about 4 hours because they took alot of pictures. They also were so sweet to take some extra poses that I wanted. Cherie emailed me the best shots the very next day! And boy howdy I was impressed...I actually...dare I say...I actually looked pretty good for an almost 40 year old! Cherie and Hedley with help from Stephanie are miracle workers (I kept telling them that). I am sooooo happy with my pictures and I'm sooooo glad that I did it. I recommend that every person; woman, man or child do this. Chronicle a piece of your life so you can look back at that time with fondness. All right, ladies, the only reason I put less stars is to drag attention to the important points (in my opinion.) If you are not in the mood to read the entire review, then here's the quick resume: Cherie is GOOD, she knows what she is doing, it is safe to use her!!!!! Now, to the highlights. Being a control freak that I am I have put too much time, money, and emotion into this. However, this is not something you do every day and for the amount of money you are spending you can't let it be less than perfect. First of all, it was not easy to get an appointment. May be it was just my luck and Cherie was not available, but I was able to get through to her after 2 messages left 2 weeks apart and I only got a response about 3 weeks after I first discovered her. When we finally spoke I was offered only 2 days that she was available to shoot in the entire month of August, which would be ok it were not for the deadline (my husband's birthday.) The reason I am stating these facts is to warn fellow Yelpers NOT to do it on a deadline of any sort as you will stress out Cherie, yourself, and will spoil the entire experience. Next, and I will go all the way explaining my point, because I must express the following issue. There was no help whatsoever with choosing your outfits and style. Well, 90% of my girlfriends and women I know in general consider themselves subject matter experts in style and fashion. Ladies, I am sad to say, we are not all fashion gurus. If you are a realist and know that you need help putting together the right looks, you will not find it here. Cherie shared some basic info where you can get a nice lingerie and high hills, but we all know the places. Unfortunately, they don't always work. Say, Fredericks of Hollywood is the last place on earth I'd refer someone to. This is how cheap their selections look in my opinion. You can not even count on good old Victoria's Secret entirely. It took more than 1 hour in the fitting room to find 1 decent outfit for the shoot out of hundreds of selections they offer. Hence, without the help of a stylist or a personal shopper I would not recommend to go into this project. Crazy as it sounds, I must repeat, with the money you invest in this 1 day of your life you can't afford to have imperfect outfits that won't complement your figure. Cherie is a highly professional photographer, her make-up and hair lady was super skilled and tasteful (I do not know if she uses the same one every time, but the one she hired for me was great), yet I feel that I did most of the work myself with a help of my friend who is a professional stylist. I recommend you discuss the number of looks you are allowed and the number of hours for this shoot ahead of time. Naturally, everyone wants to work less for the same amount of money and this is something you need to know in advance to spare any kind of confusion and disappointment. The same goes for the number of images you receive in the end, Photoshopped and color-corrected or not, in what format, etc. You may spend all this effort, time and money on the project and not even have any images to show off on Facebook in the end. Be aware! In conclusion, this was a great experience, something every woman must do before the age takes its toll . The album I received is great and was a very pleasant and unusual birthday gift for my husband. Would I do it again with Cherie? YES, if she can suggest something new and exciting next time. read more

I bought a groupon and wanted to get photos for my husband who was going to the war. It was NOT easy to get an appointment and after I was given an appointment I was asked to move it to later time. Description of where the studio is located is MISLEADING as Cherie's office is in LA NOT BEVERLY HILLS. On my way to the shoot I couldn't locate the studio as I was putting Beverly Hills as a city in my GPS and of course it was wrong location. Cherie gives information where to park, but that TOO was wrong as I had to park four blocks away (she forgot to tell about days with street cleaning that there will be NO parking). Even Cherie INSISTED over and over for me to be on time when I arrived to the studio photographers weren't ready (they were rearranging furniture and what not) and I waited another 20 minutes for shoot to start. Communicating with Cherie I was in an opinion that I will be photographed by her or at least by some other woman, but not so. There was also a man who was taking photos. It was weird and it took me a "moment" to collect myself, but he said that he is there to make sure that female photographer - Lara - is going to take "the best pictures possible." Studio has UNSAFE elements and I couldn't totally relax as I was worrying that I will step on the side of the "made up platform" and fall (no wonder that just few pictures came out right). I didn't fall off the "platform," however I FELL due to plywood that was placed on a top of the floor. This plywood as it doesn't cover all the area of the floor makes floor uneven and in high heels it is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!! It has been more than two weeks and I AM STILL IN PAIN. As I said the pictures were for my husband and when I was "viewing" the photos Lara stated that she understood that I would like to get my photo (I asked for ONLY ONE photo) as soon as possible. She stated that it takes "few days, up to ten, but I am sure that you will get yours on time." Apparently photos are "sent out" to someone else to photoshop them and no need to say I DIDN'T GET MY PHOTO in time to give it to my husband BEFORE HE WAS "SHIPPED OUT." PAID LOTS OF MONEY, GOT INJURED AND LIED TO!!! WATCH OUT LADIES!!! BETTER GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Ok... this is not something I would even consider or think of doin. But I was out of ideas and plans on what to give my significate other of 21 years for his B-day... So when I saw an episode of HW of New Jersey, and got the ideas from there... I was on the hunt for a good photographer that would put up with me and my inexperience & shy personality. I called a few and Cherie was one that I was trying to reach, but she was on VACA at the time. Found one in Costa Mesa, CA (not gonna give names) and booked a session. The photographer and crew was great and friendly. But the result of my pictures (2000+ pics) did not make me look appealing. I was very sad and more disappointed when they told me the $$$$ to put a book together. No way I was able to afford this. But luckily.. Cherie was back from her VACA and called me the same day I got the quote for my book at the other place. I told her my situation and she gave me a quote. Saw that it was reasonable... so I booked a session to try this one more time. Day of my session I was so nervous. Met Cherie, Hedley, and Victoria at their Los Angeles location. They made me feel as though we were old friends meeting to caught up. Victoria did my make-up and made me look amazing. The make-up looked natural and enhance my features (my lips) a 1000 times better. Maybe I should have tried darker colors for my eyes but she did exactly what I asked for. Cherie/Hedley started my photo shoot and they were so cute together. They went through the stuffs I brought like kids finding candies. So excited and just full of energy... making you want so much to join in on the fun. LOVE 'EM.... I am a person who does not walk around in my room naked with my hubby there... been like that since day one we meet... so taking these picture with people I just meet was nerve reckin'. But Cherie ease my nerve and made it less scary. They both were very understanding and constantly remind me how nervous I looked... so I would re-adjust myself. They tried lots of different poses and styles to get the best result. I am so NOT photogenic at all and is so greatful they both try so hard to get the best for me. We had an great session... and shortly Hedley had to leave. It was just Cherie and I... Cherie was being adventureous with me and I think these pictures at the end of the session were one of the best (THK-U Cherie). End results... I had lotz more pix to choose from this session to fill my books... I have not given my hubby his present yet... still being worked on. But I can be sure that they will turn out great. They made me feel beautiful and glamouse in these pictures. Not a working (9-5) mom! Maybe when I find more courage, I can re-do this just for myself (a boost of confidence). Okay...if you are reading this you and are debating whether to do a boudoir shoot with Cherie, just call her right now and make an appointment. Cherie and Hedley are the absolute best photographers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. When I got engaged, the first thing I knew I wanted to do for my husband was a boudoir shoot. I am a VERY conservative person and was extremely nervous about doing a shoot like this. From the very beginning they made me feel comfortable and beautiful. I'm not your average LA size 0, 2 or even 4 girl. I was worried that the photos wouldn't come out as I hoped because of my size at the time. Needless to say my worries were put to bed the second these magical artists started shooting. Not only did I look better than I ever have in a photo, I immediately wanted them to do my wedding!! (Also, Virginia, the make-up artist/hair stylist that Cherie set me up with before the shoot was fantastic as well.) DON'T LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE TO DO A BOUDOIR SHOOT! LET THE BOUDOIR CAFE DO YOUR BOUDOIR PHOTOS!! The photos and experience are flawless. Seriously, you get what you pay for. Don't try to shop around and find someone cheaper. Chances are, they are cheaper for a reason. I thought so much of Cherie and Hedley that I replaced the photographer I had hired to do our wedding (and had done our engagement photos) with Cherie and her team. I can't be more pleased with how talented they are. I was able to get in touch with Cherie anytime I needed anything which is so important for every bride. I went to the Boudoir Cafe yesterday afternoon for a boudoir photo shoot and it was so great, which is really crazy coming from me because I have Never liked taking pictures before. After arriving early and hearing how much fun the girls that went before me were having, having my makeup professionally done, sipping the champagne that I brought, and slipping into some sexy lingerie I was ready. My two photographers (yes two) were so great at relaxing me and giving me direction that I was soon posing like a pro (well almost). My pictures came out so great that I can't even believe that some of them are of me. It was a wonderful experience. I really wish that I had done it a few years ago. I really hope to have, at least, one of my sisters join me next time. I can't wait to do my viewing and get my pictures. Cherie and Hedley are professionals and they are able to make you look stunning regardless of your body type. I would highly suggest getting your hair and make up professionally done on the day of the shoot. I got my hair/make up done by one of Cherie's girls and I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name but the smoky eyes and lashes she did were phenomenal. I would also highly suggest going into the shoot with an open mind and to do your best to leave your apprehensions at the door. If you need a little liquid courage, bring a bottle of wine that you can sip on before the shoot. Hedley was my photographer and he was great at giving positive feedback and direction as needed during the shoot to ensure that I would love the end result. Both he and Cherie seem to be such lovely, bright, vibrant people that it is easy to feel very at ease around them especially while they are in their element. Hedley told me that he loves making women feel good about themselves and feel empowered and his photos definitely do that. Cherie was nice enough to send me a few photos from my shoot the very next day, and I just can't wait to see more. If you have ever even slightly considered having a professional boudoir photo shoot done, I am telling you now you should definitely do it.
