I had reasonably high expectations of this shoot, given the price and the experience of the team at The Boudoir Cafe, but even my high expectations were easily exceeded. Honestly, I feel like I walked into a house full of lifelong friends. Everyone made me feel incredibly at ease in what is necessarily a somewhat uncomfortable situation - I'm certainly not used to posing provocatively with a room of 4 other people. But even when I was posing painfully in ways that hurt and made me look incredible, I always felt comfortable getting, and staying in the mood. I can't thank Cherie and her team enough for the experience of a lifetime, as well as the hundreds of incredible photos that I will treasure forever!! Cherie has been absolutely amazing throughout this whole experience. I'm a college student and wanted to get some boudoir photos done while I'm at this age. After doing some research and comparing some photos, it was clear that Cherie and Hedley were the best in the business! I mean, just look at the photos on their website and instagram page and you'll know what I mean. I think what convinced me to go with Boudoir Cafe was the fact that their pictures featured women of all ages and body types- yet were all equally stunning, sexy photos. It was obvious that Cherie has a special skill that made all of these different women feel so confident and sexy in their skin, which really comes across in the photos. I spoke to Cherie on the phone and we were able to work out a customized package to include the things I wanted at a price in my budget. She was so accommodating and understanding throughout the whole thing and kept reassuring me that she just wants to make me happy! Before the shoot, she sent a comprehensive guidebook of tips to prepare for the shoot, including lingerie suggestions and health routines, like a true professional! I highly recommend you read this before the scheduled shoot. On the day of the photoshoot, I was pretty nervous, but everyone on set quickly made me feel at ease. The make-up artist was great. If possible, I recommend you get your hair and makeup professionally done at the studio. It makes a big difference in the photos. Plus- you'll have someone there for touchups and slight makeup changes to match your different outfits. Cherie's husband, Hedley was shooting alongside her. I didn't know if I would be totally comfortable with a male photographer, but I assure you, they're both total professionals and give you nothing to feel uneasy about. It's really great to have photos of the same poses from different styles and angles. Looking through the photo gallery, the pictures look so different depending on who shot it. Both Cherie and Hedley are so amazing and such artists! Their studio is stunning. There's a very artsy, sexy, dark vibe to it and you feel like you're in your own little world. It's very easy to get lost in the photoshoot because you get so into it! It feels more like you're shooting fun photos with your trusted best friends, than a photoshoot with people you just met hours beforehand. I was there for four hours and would have stayed for longer, if there hadn't been another appointment booked that day! It really felt like 30 minutes!! The photos all came out even better than I was expecting. Word of advice: if Cherie or Hedley are giving you posing tips on set- heed them! They know what they're talking about... Cherie's editing is so artistic. I mean really, she made me look like a piece of art in these photos... I cannot stress this enough- Cherie and Hedley are so talented in what they do. I came in wanting to do a shoot for myself to celebrate my personal goals being met; I lost some weight and changed my lifestyle and I wanted to do something special for my birthday which was also coming up. I have never gotten professional pictures taken outside of picture day during grade school and maybe a family photo or two. So i'm novice model to say the very least. They made me feel so beautiful and so confident that I forgot, very often that I was semi-nude. They were completely professional the entire time while still creating this comfortable atmosphere. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. They're just THAT good. This review is for a boudoir shoot that I did with Cherie and Hedley (photographers), Mikey (MUA) and Hannah (assistant) on July 30, 2014. I'm getting married on August 16th and I wanted to do something special for my fiance. In true form, I've been procrastinating on this "something special" gift and finally landed on a sexy boudoir shoot. I first searched for deals on Groupon and LivingSocial because I had found a great photographer for my maternity shoot a few years ago, but there weren't any legit deals for boudoir shoots with photographers with good Yelp reviews. I was actually thinking of booking with the Los Angeles Boudoir Studio and was reading their reviews on Yelp when I saw The Boudoir Cafe and Cherifoto. All these 5 star reviews had to mean something... I looked at their gallery and instantly fell in love! Everything was so editorial and SEXY; not too pin-uppy (though they can do that if you're into it) and definitely not sleazy. Think "High Class" escort....in a good way :) I shot an email off at like 3 in the morning and got a response from Cherie a few hours later. I was completely honest from the start -- that I know nothing about my "angles," I'm terribly awkward in front of a camera, but I have this amazing vision of presenting my hubby-to-be with this boudoir photo album on our wedding night. I even sent a link to the 50 Shades of Grey movie trailer to give her an idea of the essence of what I wanted my photos to look like. Cherie was 100% in sync with my vision and best of all, excited about it. She booked THE BEST make up artist (Mikey) who happens to also be the fashion editor of Runway magazine. The day of my shoot was his day off (soooo lucky!!) Mikey not only worked wonders on my face and hair, he also brought a stunning selection of wardrobe choices and accessories that matched the "S&M editorial look" that I was going for. The selections were so on point that I didn't even have to use any of the stuff I brought! Hannah was their assistant and she was amazing. She made sure we were all constantly comfortable and ran to the store a few different times to pick up random things like muffins, soda and eyelash glue. And, she took several behind the scene pictures that were so awesome to have. Cherie & Hedley were the principal photographers and their chemistry was just magic. I know it sounds corny, but when you're half naked in stilettos and lingerie in front of strangers, it can be pretty damn intimidating! These two made me feel like I was a rock star!! It could have been their great personalities or the whiskey, but either way, this shoot was by far the best experience I've ever had and the pictures are something I will look back on 30 years from now and can be totally proud of. They really get into it and are great directors. This is a huge perk because I need to be told what to do....like I said, I'm awkward in front of a camera. Here we are 5 days after the shoot and I already have all my retouched photos, and more will come after the wedding settles down. The turnaround time was ASTONISHING. I absolutely adore Cherie & Hedley and all that they've done for me in such a short amount of time. I'm already considering coming back for another shoot!! Side note: I purchased their Foto Package #3 which is a 3 hour shoot with 3 wardrobe and make up changes. I arrived at 1:00 and left EARLY at 7:00. These guys are not time keepers and will keep shooting if they're having fun. Those 6 hours flew by so fast!! Make sure to clear your calendar and plan for nothing but this shoot. Cherie the photographer is a great person to work with. I was apprehensive at first seeing that I have never been naked in front of a camera before. Lol however I was offered a drink of champagne, wine, water or soda to calm my nerves. Virginia the Makeup-Artist was awesome. She did my hair and makeup. She's also a really nice person to talk to in general, again making me comfortable. There was a second male photographer, you can ask him to be excused if you aren't comfortable with that. He was nice as well. They work very well together. I was so happy they listened and really helped bring my visions to life. Price wise they are a little on the expensive (but reasonable IMO) side but totally worth it. I believe if you talk to Cherie she may be able to work something out with you payment wise. I was not aware that I wasn't getting any of my photos on a disc, that I had to pay extra for them but other than that it was a great experience. I would recommend them because of the high quality of their photos as well as great personalities of the whole crew. Very friendly people who make you feel at home. Cherie was very awesome which contacting her too. Text and email. She also sends preview photos either the same night or the next day! Her amazing personality shines through, even through email, and I felt so much better after letting her know some of my reservations about getting these types of photos done. She sent me a great guide with tips to help me prepare for my shoot and really calmed my nerves. I have always struggled to appreciate my "curves" and especially now, as a mother of 2, I definitely have insecurities. Despite all this, I decided to just go for it. I have to say, even preparing for the shoot was nice. I took the time to buy some beautiful lingerie, get my nails done, and spend time doing things for myself which I hardly find time to do in between school drop-offs, homework, sports, and caring for my husband who was injured during his military service. I decided to travel from Nevada to LA to shoot with Cherie and Hedley in person and I'm so happy I did. When I arrived at their studio Cherie came out and greeted me. I already felt like I knew her from our email correspondence so it wasn't awkward at all. The studio is super cute and has such an intimate feel. I was able to talk to Cherie for awhile and then met Hedley, who is so incredibly kind. I didn't know how I would feel shooting with a man but they are so professional that I didn't worry about anything at all. My makeup artist was so sweet and did a beautiful job on my hair and makeup, and they even brought me a snacks and a drink while I was getting ready. I felt like a movie star by the time I was ready to shoot! I can't say that I wasn't nervous but after being in front of the camera for a few minutes all of that just kind of went away. I loved how they both told me how to pose and guided me through the shoot, especially because I have never done anything like this and had no idea what I was doing! You can see the passion they both have for their art and although they must have done this a million times they still were so excited to get that perfect pose and perfect shot. It was amazing to see them switch the camera lenses and lights and sets so flawlessly. I also just adored the love they have for each other, it was so inspiring. By the end I was exhausted but had such a great time. I know it sounds corny but I left feeling like I got that sexiness back that is so easy to lose in the monotony of every day life. Cherie sent me the proofs of my pictures in less than 2 days and I was blown away, even before any retouching had been done. I had no idea how I was going to feel about them but I LOVED them. I could hardly believe it was me!! They were sexy and beautiful and classy all at the same time. My husband just about lost his mind when he saw them and it was awesome to see that fire again. I let him pick the final pictures that are going to be edited and he must've gone over the pictures 10 times just admiring them all. He tells me constantly how beautiful I am to him but to be able to give him these pictures that are totally out of the norm was so much fun. It reminded me of when we first started dating and all of the excitement our relationship had before kids and the stresses of life. In the end, although these pics were initially for him, I feel like they were just as much for me. I love the confidence they have brought me. I was able to see myself in such a different light and realize that I'm beautiful the way I am, even if I don't have the "supermodel stick thin figure" I thought was needed to feel that way. I really feel like every woman, no matter where you are in life, should splurge and get these done for themselves.
