This is a wonderful local arts festival including artists from outside Louisville that I attended this year for the third time since moving to the city more than 12 years ago. In fact, shortly after I moved here, a prestigious local professional recommended I attend it. The neighborhood is gorgeous, and the art fair is well organized and thought out. I was glad to see food from Kingsley's was featured as it has great food. I like this art fair just as much as the St. James one if not better. If you are looking for a nice, fun activity and enjoy being outside and art, this festival is especially for you. There also is jewelry, soap and lotion, and other items sold. The art festival returned this year and the crowd showed up! Even the weather was kind to us both Saturday and Sunday. Compared to its beginnings the festival has more than doubled the amount of vendor booths. Some I recognize from other Louisville festivals while other artists are from out of town. Food, beer and wine are also available. Always a crowd favorite is the Kizito cookie lady! Some areas will be blocked off but there's a lot of street parking that is only a small walk to the festival. For those with younger kids the park area has a playground and the festival offers a children's area for crafts. Bathrooms and porta pots are available. The festival prefers and has signage for no dogs, but some do bring them. (Based on the crowd I'd leave mine at home) This is a great festival and I look forward to it every year. It's a great reason to get out of the house and not a hassle to attend, plus small enough to not take up your entire day. Stay around the neighborhood to enjoy more shopping or lunch! read more

I love the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair! This event is an annual celebration in the Cherokee Triangle neighborhood that brings together hundreds of artists, and thousands of attendees. During the event the streets are lined with artists' booths, each showcasing awesome talent. Attendees can walk the street, enjoying the views, shopping, and snack and drink options. You'll find local favorites to munch on, like Kizito cookies, as well as other delicious snack and food truck options. Plus, there's beer! And if you don't enjoy alcohol, there are plenty of non-alcoholic options as well. Even if you're not in the market to purchase any art, this is still a fun event! (And honestly, you may suprise yourself and leave with something anyway, because there's way more than paintings and wall art here!) We've always had a great time at this event, and we definitely plan to continue to attend in the future! read more

Don't get me wrong; I'm a fan of art shows. The St. James Court Art Show, for example? Love going every year. But I rarely buy anything at them. My checking account isn't big enough. The Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is different, though. Many of its vendors are affordable. Plus there is a variety of items -- without sacrificing quality. It's not the same paintings and modern art booth after booth after booth. Every year that I go I end up buying something -- or many somethings. And my checking account survives, far from depleted. I visited twice this weekend for the annual show and was so impressed with what I found. Jewelry, paintings and ceramics -- yes. But there also were clothes, Derby hats and fascinators, art prints, children's toys, garden art, plants, soaps and much more that I'm forgetting. So much of it is local to the region or at least to Kentucky. I'm always surprised at other large local art shows at how many of the vendors come from other states. And this show contains pieces and vendors with interesting artistic points of view. One of my favorite booths this year was PhBead, which makes jewelry out of butterfly wings. Sounds a bit odd, but these necklaces and bracelets were stunning. Plus she gets the wings from butterflies that have already died. And if art isn't your thing, wine and mimosas can be found by the Castleman statue, and food and live music is available by and in Willow Park, at the other end of Cherokee Parkway. You can spend an hour or two perusing the booths and then relax, with a lawn chair, in the park. The houses that line Cherokee Parkway are beautiful to look at. And traffic isn't too bad getting to the fair. Similarly parking is relatively easy. I live two blocks from the fair, and there were several spots free on our street for fair-goers. I would recommend parking across Bardstown Road on one of the side streets rather than on the other side of the fair, near the park, though. One more tip: Don't bring your dogs. This art fair is pet-free. Definitely make it a point to attend in the future! read more

I've been going to this art fair long before I moved to The Highlands or Cherokee Triangle neighborhood, and it's definitely one of my favorite things to do in Louisville during the spring. I always cross my fingers for the rain to hold out, and most years it's worked. There's nothing like a warm, sunny spring day spent with friends or family strolling around with a beer in hand at this art fair. Parking is first come first serve around the neighborhood streets, so if you're not in walking distance to the area, you need to be patient and cautious while looking for a spot. Or you can save the hassle and have Uber or someone drop you off near Willow or Cherokee Park. There are a large amount of booths, but not so overwhelming or time consuming to get through, as St. James Court has become. There's a great mix of artistic mediums, variety of crafts and price points. You can find anything there, from cool handmade candles,pottery or jewelry that's great to buy for gifts or high-quality paintings, photography and sculpture that can be proudly displayed in your home and passed down through generations. Even if I don't buy anything (which is rare), I've always enjoyed coming to walk around this friendly neighborhood art fair, especially now that I see the familiar faces of my neighbors. I definitely hope this tradition continues and that more people stop by it if they're around Louisville the weekend before Derby. I realize it's Cherokee, but I felt that a lot of the stuff was over priced. I would think you would want to sell 15 items at a lower price than 1 or 2 items at such a high price. I love this art fair. It's my favorite art fair in the city. It's small enough to still have charm and it's not as overblown as the St. James Art Fair. Aside from Thunder Over Louisville, this event kicks off warm weather. Every year that it rolls around, you know that warmth, allergens, and Spring is on the way. I go every year because it's in the Highlands and it's literally a few steps away. Some years I find stuff while other years I don't see much that I need or want. Since this is a smaller(than St James) art fair you won't see as many booths with jacked up prices. You'll still see expensively priced art but there are also plenty of affordable items to be had. You'll also find plenty of food options. Have you already filled your stomach? Have you already walked around? Have you already bought things? Bring your chair and hang out in Willow Park for a while. Some years it rains but most years it's beautiful. Not too hot and not cold. read more

If you want to buy handcrafted items from Louisville vendors then the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is a must attend event. The art at this fair is pricy, but the vendors are selling actual handcrafted items. Unlike so many other events this one hadn't been infiltrated by booths full of Chinese trinkets, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, etc. Unfortunately, some of the vendors weren't taking Square and there was no ATM on site so bring cash or at least a checkbook if you plan to buy. Also, I recommend eating elsewhere before you come. The food options were extremely limited, basically hotdogs and hamburgers. read more

First of all I appreciate having art fairs in the city but Louisville has to be the least dog friendly city ever and that's coming from a new dog owner. We want to the Cherokee park area and walked out dog to the art fair, considering it's outside and in an open area where they allow people to drink, strollers and wagons in a busy park. We came in with our new puppy who is 12 pounds and 4 months old, my boyfriend carried him most of the time. We walked most of the art fair till a cop came up and told us we couldn't have a dog and walked away. We were almost to the exit when we were approached a second time, this time by an older man in a blue, who was on the stage setting up, basically berated us and whipped out his phone to call "authorities" because he can't believe we had a dog. Mind you I just passed a huge pit bull, doberman, three other doodles and another pit, that the man hasn't approached. We turned around to walk with my parents back to their car after this and then was approached by this older man in blue shirt again, who wouldn't even listen to my mom or me, just whipped out his phone to call again. This time his daughter stepped in and said they were volunteers and to be nice because he was old and runs the art fair. I can't believe an outside event would discriminate against people with dogs. They basically said when I asked why is we don't want them. . It's hard to be nice when you're targeted by the same man who was not nice at all to tell you to leave which we were. He not once said anything to any of the dog owners that walked by while he was attacking us. The response I got on why they don't want dogs is because people trip and it can be dangerous or bite. I'm Sorry, what?! So strollers and wagons don't trip people when they are being pushed and that person isn't paying attention?! Then people are going to start drinking once the bar opens?! Dogs only bite if they are provoked or harmed in any way. Hell, kids can bite and make people trip. I haven't been to this art fair since 2018 but now I remember why. Won't be back. It's a free and public event in a public park. It's 2022, time to get with the new generation. read more

The Cherokee triangle art fair has always been my favorite art fair in town. It is not nearly as crowded as St James art fair and parking is much easier. Yesterday was the perfect day for the art fair; beautiful weather And all the flowers just blooming for spring. There was even a live band playing in the park area. The art fair truly has something fun for all ages. There is even a kids area where they can make arts and crafts. What really sets this art fair apart from all the others Is affordability. The wood carving booth that was a show favorite of mine, all items were priced from $20-$40 which is very reasonable for handcrafted art. Typically parking is free for this Art fair. There are lots of food choices and beverage choices at The art fair also. read more

This is my second favorite art fair next to St James. It isn't quite as crowded, is also surrounded by beautiful homes and has the added benefit of having great live music in the gazebo in Willow Park. This year it was a great Chicago cover band. I was finally able to replace my broken Tibetan meditation ring. I also bought some graduation gifts (bracelets), and a photograph that I've admired for several years at 1/2 price because the vendors are retiring. My boyfriend bought some nice homemade soaps and CBD honey (it's a little strong). He also bought a hat from the couple who won the grand prize this year. It was also a gorgeous day which helped. read more

First of all, I love this area. Willow Park is so lovely with the gazebo and it's perfect for live music. I look forward to the Art Fair every year the weekend before Derby week. The weather was perfect this past weekend which made it so nice to walk around for hours checking out art, sipping a glass of wine and listening to local bands. I feel like most of the art at this event is more affordable. We purchased a picture from a local lady that is beautiful for $45. Last year I bought earrings and a bracelet that were handmade for $40. At Saint James and other various Art Fairs, I think it would cost double that. There is a decent beer and wine selection for purchase for $5-$6 each. I do wish the food options were better. I'm not a big BBQ sandwich fan and I hate hot dogs and those were the only "real food" items I saw. read more

One of my favorite Louisville Art Fairs! The location is central and perfect! There are actually local artists in this fair!! My favorite booth at the moment is KMAC Children Booth. My grandson needs a Derby Hat for his Derby Parade at KIP Preschool. We made a paper hat full of flowers and streamers. He also modeled clay!! I love this little festival. I enjoy walking around and looking at all the cool things people have made. There are many vendors that are pretty pricey but also things for people like me without a thick wad of cash to just spend on something frivolous and pretty. I always end up with something. Last year it was a kick ass mug with cats in period attire... I bought the matching mouse pad this year and got my dad a cedar carved wooden bear that holds a sign that either says "welcome" or "go away" for Father's day. He'll love it and will probably keep it in "go away"! :) My bf got his mom something similar with her dogs name on it and she loved it. I detest Bluegrass music but if I'm outdoors walking around in this area and it's pretty out its all good with me. To top it off you get a yummy brat. Now if they just sold Ginger beer! :) read more

I was worried with the rainy weather forecast that the fair wouldn't have as much of a turnout, but the weather was beautiful and the fair was full of people. The fair is perfectly situated in the middle of the Highlands with some beautiful homes and Cherokee park as a backdrop. I love supporting this fair, because I feel like there are a lot of local vendors set up. You can find art pieces in a wide range of prices and tons handcrafted items. There is also a lineup of different bands and plenty of food and beverage options. I was in search of a derby themed art piece at a reasonable price point and was lucky enough to find a local vendor. A street art fair just right down the street from my apartment? Heck yeah I will go! I felt there was a pretty good selection of types of art here, with wide range of prices. I found a really funky flower crown headband that I used as a fascinator for Derby. As this art fair wasn't huge, there as a decent size food area, more than I would have expected along with some sweet treats like Steel City Pops. I will for sure be back next year. read more

I am brand new to town and walked to the art fair with my small dog. I mistakenly thought that since it was in a public park, it would be dog friendly. As soon as I arrived, an elderly man named Jerry who was working the fair approached me and said sternly, "I cannot believe you would bring a dog to this. I have worked here for ten years and we have never allowed dogs". If I hadn't stopped him, he would have continued to berate me. I can't remember the last time I was treated so rudely by a stranger. I absolutely understand and respect their wish for the fair to be pet free. Jerry could have simply informed me that dogs were not permitted. I came wanting to purchase gifts from local artisans but now I will never go back. read more
