This is one of my favorite festivals is town. (And we have soooo many to choose from). It's great because it truly is like a "best of Louisville" display. Nulu is one of the most creative communities in the Ville. It's full of vibrant colors, quirky (and locally owned, locally sourced) shops, restaurants, breweries, etc. The NuluFest is the community on steroids -- all the great people and great local shops, plus food trucks, local bands, local beer and local crafters and vendors at street booths. It's also the best of our people, our neighbors, our community. This Fest knows no age boundaries. No race, no religion, no orientation or gender boundaries. It's a come-as-you-are, as who you are and chill. It's families. It's couples. It's hipsters and football fans. Today I saw a 20/30-something black guy dancing in the street, stop to show a 13 year old white girl how to replicate his dance move. It was no big deal to anyone. I remember stopping for a second and looking on as a bystander and thinking to myself, "this is beautiful. This is the world I want to live in. A world where people are kind and generous, blind to the things that make us different and tuned in to how we are the same". In that moment, and in all my moments at the NuluFest, I was proud of this city, proud to call the Ville home. Louisville is love. If you're looking for a down-home festival, full of great food, cool shops, beer, booths, shopping, love and community, then NuluFest should be marked on your calendar. Pro tip: it's usually the last Saturday in September. Bonus: YelpLouisville usually attends and hosts an Instagram contest full of great giveaways.

This event is an absolute blast..it was actually a lot more than what I was expecting. I've been to the St. Matthews and Highlands Fest where I've had a pretty average time, spending no more than 45 minutes there, but Nulu Fest definitely takes the cake and brings a whole lot more to the table. I really love Nulu. It's probably one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of Louisville, mainly because it is always full of fresh ideas and local culture. So, when you have an event like this, you are pretty much celebrating everything there is to love about Nulu (which is A LOT!) and learning more about some great local businesses in this city. I think we spent about 3 hours here, there's just so much to do. Along with getting to check out shops, restaurants and bars, there are tons of vendors laid out on the street and live music. A lot of businesses will offer discounts and specials. The best part is getting to explore, indulge and learn about the area. Nulu Fest is a must event for any local or out-of-towner, hands down!

Fall in Louisville means at some point you have to go to the NuLu Fest in the NuLu neighborhood just east of downtown. This is where they block off several blocks of East Market Street with booths of merchandise and food. Oh, yeah, alcoholic beverages, too. If you didn't have a reason to visit the area restaurants and local shops before now you have a festival celebrating the rebirth of this neighborhood. As a native of Louisville this area was quite sketchy as a youth. Most people avoided this part of town. Now with a new energy and the growth of unique local shops and quaint local restaurants business is booming and crowds are the norm. OK, we lost some restaurants such as Rye, Decca, and Harvest due to Covid probably and the great Joe Ley's Antique Emporium is no longer around but things are getting better now and the promise of new businesses and growth are in the air. Still in the area is Muth's Candies a local business selling tasty candy for over a hundred years. Not only did we get some candy there but picked up some unique items at one of the booths along Market Street. And yes, out of towners seem to love NuLu, too.

What a blast at the fest today. Although it was so hot. Hottest I have been all summer. Walked into and out of the shops. Visited multiple vendor booths. Took in some music at the music stages. And played the Yelp elite photo scavenger hunt. And won a gift card for a free eyebrow wax and manicure from Dollface Brows and Beauty from that contest. How cool is that. Thanks to Yelp and Dollface. It is the cutest little shop off market and I can not wait to go back for my manicure and brow wax. The crowd was great, just chillin and having fun on a Saturday afternoon in downtown Louisville. My favorite event was seeing my nephew frederick win the Royals hot chicken tender eating contest. I am guessing 3+ pounds of HOT SPICY tenders in 10 minutes. It was a site to see. Always a good time in Nulu. I love my city

Great event with food, local art, and fall festivities on a warm September day. Great shopping in the best local neighborhood. I love how they highlight local artists, and have such a great selection of shops in the few blocks of the NULU hood. We got feast bourbon slushees, jewelry at revelry and plants at mahonia. Scout is my favorite store! And don't forget to stop by red tree. Garage bar had amazing pizza!!

Great event packed with good music and fun vendors. I was surprised at the vendor prices being reasonably low. Many festivals try to gouge you but not here. The stores were busy but moving quickly and happy for the extra business. All in all a nice outing, even with the hot weather.

It was a beautiful day for a festival! I had a great time looking at all the booths offering arts, crafts, snacks, candles, bath bombs, handmade soap, lotions and potions. There were a lot of food vendors to choose from and local craft beers. I grabbed a nice lager from Akasha Brewing then strolled over to the Yelp booth to say hello. With my handy shop menu in hand I made my way to Muth's Candies for a box of modjeskas and cherry cordials. By then I'd worked up an appetite so I headed to the Maryland crab cake booth for a delicious sandwich. Service was quick, which was good because I was so hungry. Overall it's a nice festival to end the summer. The crowd isn't too overwhelming and it's very family friendly. There's music and places to sit for some interesting people watching. I'll definitely go back next year.

This event has become a tradition for me and my kids. Checking out the unique shops and delicious eats. The kids seem to always convince me on paying an undisclosed amount of money for 6 little cookie looking things... But oh well, that's what we come for. Weather was great this year and it was good to see new businesses and development taking place. Should be another good one next year!

Always fun, always delicious, always promoting the great businesses in NuLu. NuLu Fest gets better every year! I love the food vendors, the way the local businesses get involved, and the music. Every year it seems the crowd has grown in size, which is awesome. The bands have gotten better. More and more food trucks and vendors have been included. More street performers have been involved. It gets better and better. I love that this is, in my experience, a rare example of a festival that really tries hard to showcase nearby businesses. And the businesses embrace it. They move parts of their store out into the street and do demos or offer food/candy/water/etc. For example, Revelry was doing a live mural during NuLu Fest 2017. Love this! The booze vendors have always been awesome and cooked up some original cocktails or booze slushees. Hells yea. Good variety of food trucks. Veggie-friendly as far as I could tell. I didn't see a totally-vegan option but I wasn't searching for one. :) Restrooms are plentiful and not overrun- a great thing at a festival. Definitely plan on coming back again next year!

I had a chance to check out NuLu Fest last weekend. This festival is great opportunity to see what the NuLu neighborhood has to offer with stores being open late, and tons of vendors, food, drinks and live music. The festival is also great people watching with an eclectic crowd of visitors from all Louisville and further. As I always do, I stopped by the Yelp booth to check in and participated in a Yelp NuLu Festival Quest, where you try to take pictures with the yelp logo (on a stick) of various stores and vendors. It was great fun. All in all I really enjoyed NuLu Fest and will definitely be stopping by next year.

This was my first time experiencing the event that is NuLu Fest, and It did not disappoint. I spent the first big portion of my day working in a booth for "Face It". During this time you could feel the energy in the air. The crowd was amazing and you can see on the faces that they were all having a good time. When my turn working was over, it was time to explore. There were tons of booths from art, organizations, and businesses. It was a real highlight of some of what our wonderful city has to offer. There were 2 stages with bands playing music and plenty of food and Drinks to keep you occupied as you explored the booths and the fantastic shops. I will definitely make this an annual event for my family and I!

Who knew there were fun Euro walkways on Market Street?
    Audrey W.

Such a fun way to explore NuLu, a neighborhood that is worth exploring. Not only do I carve out the time to go in to all the neat shops, but I can actually take the time to look around and see things that are easily missed while driving or walking down the street. Plus the food trucks that I never get to try because I don't work downtown. Find 2 hours on the last Saturday in September and walk down the street with bourbon slushee in hand and take in everything NuLu has to offer.

    NuLu fest!

The fall walk takes place mid-September, usually the weekend after Labor Day. Since Monnik has taken over the walk, things have changed a little bit. But it is still great! Hickory Street, on either side of Burnett, is closed off. There are two outdoor stages set up and bands play all evening and in to the night. In the event of inclement weather, sometimes the performances can be moved indoors at Monnik and maybe Checks. Beer tents, food trucks, cake walks, pull tabs, good music, good people, good times! The other neighborhood bars get in on the fun too, with bands and food or drink specials at spots like the MerryWeather, Nach Bar, Old Hickory Inn, and others. One of the houses near the center point of the walk area has outdoor backyard karaoke. I love this event, I love my neighborhood, and I love my neighbors!

They typically have 3 or 4 Blues bands on Friday and that many more on Saturday. The event has been going on for years and the crowd is steady but not overbearing. So get a chair next time, sit in the street, listen to great music, catch up with old friends, have a beer and a brat and enjoy the BLUES. My husband and I went early enough to not be uncomfortably surrounded by people while visiting the vendor booths. Booths were a mixture of local businesses and groups or small business vendors selling earrings, candles, soaps, cookies, clothing and more. The food vendors were similar to being at the state fair, offering lemonade, corn dogs and funnel cakes. My favorite snack was the popcorn. For the kids they offered a variety of activities - bouncy houses and carnival rides. The Gaslight Festival is actually a few days of events. Most popular activities are the 5k, parade and car show. Street parking can be tough to find but some organizations offer their lot for a small parking fee, which raises money for their group. Keep this in mind if you're wanting to visit a restaurant in the area. (You're likely not going to be able to park at their private lot)

I was impressed with the amount of booths at this festival -- probably two or three blocks' worth. And these booths included a mix of local businesses and nonprofits, artists and cheaper gifts. For example, if you bring a child and want to buy him/her something inexpensive, you can probably find it here. There is also a car show, which is fun to browse, as well as rides, live music and a variety of fair food. The kettle corn stand made the main thoroughfare smell amazing and rightfully so had a decently long line, which included me. A favorite part was that walking the streets of the festival allowed me to slow down enough to really take in the buildings and businesses lining downtown Jtown. I didn't know that Jtown had its on archeological society, for example. It also provided me an opportunity to check out the new Feast BBQ that just opened in downtown Jtown. Parking was decently easy to come by -- an added plus. It seems like Jtown is becoming a more and more popular place to live and do business. It was fun to see all of this on display at the Gaslight Festival.

I arrived at about 8 p.m. -- an hour before the headliner was set to take the stage. The sun was still out. But except for a handful of booths, everything else was already closed and torn down. And I had seen so many great shots on social media of makers and local shops that had set up at what is becoming a landmark fest for New Albany. I wish I could have made shopping a part of my Boomtown adventure. Some of the reasons the shopping hours should be extended: * Like I said, it was still sunny. No problems seeing the merch. * This event is only one day (so far). Asking vendors to stay open until the last concert shouldn't be too hard. * The in-between time, leading up to the last band, is a time when a large amount of guests are looking for a diversion -- a win for shopping. But Boomtown is definitely about more than shopping. And from what I saw, it excels in other areas: * The music was fantastic. From what I was told, local band Houndmouth and WFPK worked together to bring in the acts. * The final band was on time, which you don't see a lot. * Because this festival is still gaining steam, we were able to 1) find parking less than a block away and 2) get super close to the stage without having to push our way through a massive crowd. * This is such a great opportunity to explore beautiful downtown New Albany. * The police were so friendly! I'm looking forward to next year and spending all day in New Albany.
