Additionally, we wanted to combine Evergreen leaves with pink, purple, and orange floral hues that were emblematic of the many flowers in our own garden. The employees were well organized and did a great job communicating with each other so that way when we reached out to them, they each knew who we were and what changes or modifications were up-and-coming. Extremely pleased with their customer service and flexibility. Even more happy about their artistic skill and craftsmanship and we felt the pricing was really fair given how beautiful the pieces turned out. In our area they literally brushed off dirt and debris on stained cushions in front of us, and expected us to sit there in our white linens which visibly stained my partner's pants. It turned out there were a number of tables that were available. It felt like we were being isolated into a colored section as people of color. They then had the audacity to ask for a full price and a sizable tip for a really awful experience. A place to avoid. Does not make the green book.

About a year ago they raised their prices so they are now equivalent in price to other nurseries. There are two greenhouses filled with plants plus a small outdoor area with more plants. The reason we go to Houghton's is their hanging baskets of flowers. Whoever designs them really has an eye for putting the right flowers and colors together. We usually buy two a year and they bloom all summer. As I said Houghton's is only open until July. When they close they let the employees take home the plants they want. We heard rumors that they also donate a batch of flowers to local nursing homes in July. Parking can be a problem on weekends and they have a parking attendant who directs you to open spots. Be on the lookout for him as you approach the business.

While this may not have turned out the way I planned, I was more than pleased with the service.
