Although the grounds were beautiful, the staff that assisted our family in both the market area as well as the restaurant were rude and left us feeling uncomfortable. The restaurant area was inside of a barn, which looked pretty rustic and neat, but I asked about getting a turkey sandwich plain for my son and was met with a flat "no." I went out to confer with my family, came back to order a ham/cherry mustard/swiss sandwich to go. I waited 30 minutes and when I went back to check in case they forgot, I was told "if you would have ordered at the time you first came in, it would have been out already, but another family came in first, so you'll have to wait longer." I waited an additional 10 minutes, and when I received my sandwich, no apologies, no "have a nice day." I thanked the employee and went about my way. I'm not one to leave negative feedback, but it's warranted to inform others of the lackluster attitude of employees. Don't miss this farm if you're in town! Great local options. You must try their cherry turnovers and pastries. They also have cute gift items and a gorgeous lavender garden. Did you know that the Lavender Labyrinth has been featured in Travel+Leisure and Condé Nast?! I mean, it's a huge deal. But when we visited for July 4th, the majority of the lavender bushes were small and immature. My daughter was very disappointed but not anything the farm staff can control. The staff did say the bushes are usually in full bloom by late July - something to keep in mind for future visits. The store is small but stocked. We purchased a number of cherry goodies, jam, and souvenirs. All of it was delicious but not something I'd make a special trip for. Thankfully we didn't go out of our way to visit since we were in town for the sand dunes, but if we had - I would've been sorely disappointed. The staff is lackluster and unhelpful. All in all, our trip wasn't what we expected it to be. Glad we got to visit but we likely won't return. read more

The drive was a little over an hour from Grand Rapids, but well worth it. There was plenty of parking for all 50 people who attended. When you arrive to the farm there is an amazing farmer market with some delicious pastries. We bought the asparagus filled strudel which was superb. To the side of the farm is where people who have made a reservation gather for the fish boil. You get to enjoy viewing the farmers making the meal for you and during the boil the owner will greet you to ensure you are happy and have the proper seat. She will also share her story and a history lesson on fish boils. The story is very enlightening and fun while you wait. The meal consists of white fish, potatoes, onions, bread and cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. The food is fabulous and that is evident considering half of the people there were return customers. Things to know before you go: it's BYOB! They do serve water, lemonade and coffee if you don't want alcohol. We brought our own founders beer. If you show up early bring a small snack unless you don't mind waiting 2 hours before your meal. Our table neighbors had been to the boil a dozen times and shared their trail mix with us which made the event that more memorable. It is recommended to show up early to view the labyrinth garden and enjoy the small market. I purchased the fudge for my dessert. I was very impressed with it. Previous reviews boasted about the cherry donuts but I didn't get the opportunity to eat any since they were sold out. I'm looking forward to going back. We came to the Cherry Point Farm today because we wanted to see the Lavender Labyrinth. I'm not sure why Condé Nast would pick this as a 'Must Visit' for Michigan. Most of what we saw were empty sections of root overgrowth lavender. Now there are several sections that have beautiful lavender but for the most part it has large gaping holes where lavender used to be. From the pictures online I was clearly expecting something else. See my photos. The market is quaint and doing a steady business. I'm not sure why because the prices are astronomical! $14.75 for a cherry strudel, $8.50 for a tiny jar of jam, and a dollar for a zucchini or cucumber at the vegetable stand. If you are in the area, stop and visit. Trust. read more

What a little gold mine! I just attended the fish boil that was like dinner and a show. I heard the history of fish boils and couldn't believe how delicious the fish was. Served with potatoes and onion cooked in separate baskets in the cauldron. Watched the incredible way they burned off the fat that rose to the top of the fish. Homemade coleslaw, garlic bread and followed by homemade cherry pie and ice cream. Nice people. Socially distanced. Masks. Fun! The farm market had tons of goodies like strudel, pie, cookies, jams, jellies, puzzles, books and more... The amazing herb garden is worth the ride...i will be back... If you're near the area or passing through, do yourself a favor and stop at this lovely little farm!! It's not the biggest nor the best but it's just really kinda therapeutic. You can't pick anything at the farm per-say, but there are plenty of homemade and handmade Michigan items for sale. Everything from maple syrup, baked goodies and apparel, to candles, soaps, mugs and pictures. And just about anything lavender you can imagine! Jams, jellies and butters, and don't forget to grab some Michigan fudge at the counter as you pay! The shop isn't the biggest draw though- the rock garden is a fun place to walk down into and let your creative side out. Leave an inspiring message for the next passerby to read, or leave a funny one to make someone laugh, like my kids did. Lastly, but not least, the BEST part of this farm- the lavender gardens and labyrinth!! Oh my! That labyrinth! It's really is something else! The best way to describe it, a walking meditation. It's so beautiful and so calming to walk around the entire thing. And walk it a few times, you really need to, to take it all in. The labyrinth is sectioned I to different gardens ie. medicinal, biblical, beverages.... just to name a few. My multitude of pictures really don't even do it justice. I've been twice now and look forward to many return visits. We came about a month earlier this year (July 7th) and the lavender was in full bloom yet. To really appreciate the full purple bounty, I'd say check it out closer to the end of July. But even still- it's just amazing! This was the highlight of our time in Michigan. They have the most beautiful orchards that line the west shore of Lake Michigan. Known for their berries, fruits, vegetables and herbs, this place is certainly one of a kind. We bought fresh cherry pies that were absolutely wonderful and walked in their lavender labyrinth, which was fragrant and delightful. I also stocked up on lavender essential oils and sampled their lavender jelly, which tastes very good on english muffins. The service was prompt and very friendly. I would highly recommend making a pit stop here if you ever find yourself on the west shore of Lake Michigan. read more

The cherry donuts. They're hidden. You see all the beautiful Michigan stuff and you could easily miss these AMAZING babes. GET THE DONUTS. as a low carb gal, I didn't regret that donut for a second. You won't either---unless you're allergic to cherries like my cousin Lindsay, then stay away... The "maze" as our kids called it is fun, many beautiful flowers. I saw something about a fish fry but I was distracted by the donuts.... Oh and they gave fresh produce so you can make up for the donut later! read more

Cherry Point has been a part of our family for at least as long as it has been around. We use to go every summer and stock up on strudel and eat ourselves sick at the Lake. Some of the improvements are the cafe, huge herb and lavender garden. What is great is that after more than 10 years the strudel and customer service is still excellent. We highly enjoyed the fish boil! Wow, what an experience!! Barbra is such a wonderful host (and owner). How awesome as she told us the story and history and explained the process and showed us as they executed each step with timed precision. And the coolest part, they throw kerosene in the fire to cause a flash flame and cause the pot to boil over, causing the oils from the fish to boil over and not stay in the water, thus not fishy tasting fish! Served pot boiled Lake Superior white fish and potatoes and onions. Then also serves sides of coleslaw delicious toast with herb butter. Everything was cooked to perfection and most delicious. Host was fabulous = Sweet, friendly as ever, kind, generous and chatty to all of us. It was served outside on picnic tables, but felt like we were in her own kitchen... like we were family! So nice. Came around with the extras to serve them all out. After dinner they served their own cherry pie with ice cream. Absolutely wonderful! Tip: bring your own wine (or beer), maybe some cheeses and apples or pear slices and crackers and such... maybe even a table cloth and bug spray, but not too much snacks, save room for dinner!! The store is a fun place to visit - a lot of Michigan-theme items: books on Michigan, especially haunted places in Michigan, in-season fruit for sale, bakery items, Michigan gift items, t-shirts, hoodies, etc. Prices seem high on some things, but it's a gift shop/tourist destination. The labyrinth was disappointing. In fairness, the polar vortex of the past winter destroyed a lot of the lavender growing in Michigan, and this place lost a lot of their lavender, which somewhat impacted how the labyrinth looked, but the main part of the labyrinth didn't have much lavender. The labyrinth looks cool from an aerial view in photos, though on the ground it's a wood structure like a pergola around the edge of flowerbeds with a lot of native plants and others, lined with rocks. The flowerbeds aren't breathtaking or incredibly beautiful or unique - just flowerbeds. Some needed weeding. read more

Attended their Fish Boil. Expensive BUT delicious tender fish and the fixin's! Learned a bit of history too as Barb, the owner, narrates as the fish/food is being cooked. Their bake shop has a nice selection of home grown veggies. Their blueberry strudel was delicious but the filling seemed like it came from a can. Was very disappointed with their cherry pie. Very tart cherries and the filling tasted as though it came from a can. Seems like they threw in some fresh cherries to qualify it as being homemade. Not sure the crust is homemade either. Would come back for their Fish Boil but not their baked goods. They do have a nice variety of "Michigan t-shirts". read more

My dad took a large group of us to the Scandinavian fish boil hosted at Cherry Pointe farm. It was a good thing that we had reservations because this was a sold out event on a Wednesday night. It was fun watching the fish boil cook on the fire pit outside then 1 guy threw a bucket of kerosene to boil the oil off of the fish. Herb butter was dotted on the fish, whole potato and whole sweet onion. Everything was cooked to perfection with secret spices. A big slab of cherry pie with ice cream rounded out the excellent meal. After dinner a stroll through the lavender and herb garden was the perfect end to the evening. This was a wonderful group activity because we were able to spread out in the picnic tables below the trees. read more
