We had dinner tonight for the first time - yet it is only 3 miles from our home - why? I guess…read morebecause it is tucked away just off a Main Street in Repton and so you don't see it unless you are looking for it. It was really good, the staff were warm and friendly and the ambience (on a Friday night at 6pm) was a really nice mix of busy, bubbling in the bar and the whole bar area but then really peaceful and conducive to chat - and date night, in the Conservatory where we booked our table (at the last minute). My steak was good and Mrs G enjoyed her fish and chips. Mrs G had a draft cider while I enjoyed a large glass of Tlemperanello (spelling?). Unusual for us we both had a dessert and shared them. The sticky toffee pudding was really good and perhaps the best I have ever had. Cannot recommend the "blood orange" treacle tart - no trace of blood orange flavor, very small and basically not worth the money at all :( Will we be back - Yes! Two thumbs up

When there was a parking space at the front door, I had to take it. My meal today was not the case. There was a Father's Day 3 course meal for £39 which had a good selection but seemed a little expensive. I ordered off the smaller "Sunday Bread" menu. Belly pork, stuffing Yorkshire, roast potatoes and a small jug of gravy. I wrongly assumed some veg would come with it at a price of £14.99. I thought the menu heading was strange "Sunday Bread". I wrongly thought it was something biblical as in 'give us this day our daily bread.' When my food came out I was shocked it was a SANDWICH. I had ordered off the sandwich menu. If the heading was sandwich menu I would have known better. And all the starch, two thick slices of bread, stuffing, roast potatoes and a Yorkshire. I like carbs but this is ridiculous. Some genius Gen Z at corporate probably came up with "Sunday Bread" The pork was pitiful. I left the bread. The Yorkshire was good, roast potatoes not so good. Very disappointing.

A real drinkers pub, they brew their own ale on site and hold regular events, like beer festivals. The bar is well stocked with real ales including the famous 'Porter', as well as a selection of strong fruit wines. Be careful of the bar itself though, it is sloping, so if you put your pint on it, you will soon be wearing it! The lounge area has a good range of comfortable seating, as well as large roaring fire. A great place to sit with a good pint and debate the ways of the world. Upstairs is a traditional pub skittle alley which you can hire out, which we did as parts of a work's do. The alley is housed in a large room away from then main pub. A little on the rustic side, with old doors to protect the room from any errant bowls, but comfortable nonetheless, with an area to seat about thirty. The room was extremely cold though, the two coal fires were welcome but failed to really heat the room hardly at all. The bowling was entertaining though, as we split ourselves into two teams, it became very competitive, with anybody with a modicum of skill being applauded loudly! The food was truly great as well, chicken curry and cottage pie, mushy peas and chips, never tasted so good. A great venue, a great night, to which I would recommend to anyone. At the end of February there is a 'Beer and Bangers' event!

Sadly my personal taste doesn't enjoy the beer selection so I wont be a regular. I would say it is a traditional beer drinkers pub and quoting from my uncle who is a regular it's a mans pub

This is a fabulous relaxing but contemporary bar/shop and micro-brewery where…read moreyou can buy a pint or half of real ale (or tea/coffee and soft drinks) to drink there and then or you can buy sterile filtered beer in a bottle to take home! Also available is the same 4 beers (all bitters) in a 5ltr mini cask to take home. This is just like drinking from a bar tapits got its own built in tap and after letting it to settle at home (because of the yeast still in the beer) just vent it and drink! Brillient idea for who ever thought of it. They also sell gift packs of the bottled beer, tshirts, a glass cask flask (which is a 2ltr bottle with a pewter handle) that for £20 can be filled with beer free (the first fill only) from the bar tap and drunk back at home, then you can keep taking it back to any bar tap and have it filled up again, even your local pub. Back to the place itself, its also a fully working micro-brewery where on certain days you can watch the master brewer (Julia) and her husband (Scott) make the beer and then 2 weeks later its bottled where again you can watch. Children are allowed in accompanied. There is a more relaxed seating area upstairs with tub chairs and coffee tables some seats even overlook the brewing vessels. I know they are licensed until 11pm so are available for hire as a function facility.what a unusual place for a party, even have Julia (Master Brewer) or Scott (Brewing Engineer) giving a talk on the brewing process both in that place or the main brewery in Kings Brommley (where the cask ales are produced for the bar and the pub trade) while you have your party. Ideal for a stag or hen night? Its ideal for any function and its ideal for a relaxing drink while having a day out shopping.
