It's very much of a traditional wood finish bar decor, but that's all part of its charm. There's a bar area and restaurant area although you can sit anywhere if you want to eat. The menu ranges from classic pub dishes to slightly higher class gastro pub type stuff but it's all well cooked and enjoyable and reasonably priced. The stuff on the Specials board is usually a bit more expensive, but of course nicer ingredients. They have an extensive wine list on offer and some decent lagers. My only complaint is their lack of guest real ale - they just go in for the 'Speckled Hens' of the world.

This is the first time that I've felt sufficiently motivated to share my opinions and write a restaurant review, so here goes! Service at The Yews was first class and their kitchens managed to produce a good variety of hot, tasty dishes, on time and without any fuss for 28 family members, in spite of some last minute menu changes! My sirloin steak was tasty & cooked to perfection; other family members praised the Steak & Bombardier pie and the hand battered fish. The only mild disappointment was the Tuna lime & corriander fishcake, but this was an exception and overall the standard and range of the menu was very high. I have eaten at The Yews previously and this visit certainly lived up to and exceeded my expectations.
