Dr. Papathomas is an excellent doctor. I've been seeing her for over 10 years for my annual podiatry visits. She is always attentive, informative, and thorough. For example, several years ago she measured my feet for custom inserts to treat my plantar fasciitis. She carefully explained how to break them in: one hour on the first day, two hours the next, gradually increasing until I could wear them for at least eight hours a day. She also injected pain medication into my feet (ouch!) to provide temporary relief. Thanks to her care, I eventually fully recovered. I've also seen other podiatrists at this practice during emergency visits when Dr. Papathomas wasn't available. Like her, they are highly skilled and clearly explained their diagnoses. Use caution with this office . I scheduled an appointment because on the phone they said the Dr. I was seeing was in network with my plan for the concern I had . When I went in for that concern which was bunions and needed them removed all of a sudden the Dr. Was not in network for that procedure . So why did they see me as a patient and charge the insurance for the visit ? Either your in the network for ALL foot care services or your not in network at all ! They completely wasted my time telling me on the phone the Dr was in network. You can't pick and choose when you feel like being in the network for certain things but you don't want to be in network for other things . Either you are or you are not at all ! I took my business over to Livingston foot care and their taking very good care of me and they are in network for ALL of my foot care needs not a chosen few ! Beware make sure you ask before you go there that they are in network for all of your foot care needs. read more

Another great experience at Cherrywood Foot Care. I didn't have an appointment, but a very nice lady named Donna fit me in to see Dr. Papathomas, whom I had seen a few years ago for something else. Donna was very patient, helpful, and has a great sense of humor, while I was filling out forms prior to my visit, as I was encountering some glitches online. Everyone there, from the front desk, to the assistants, and of course Dr. Papathomas, was extremely friendly, pleasant, and accommodating to me. The office and the exam rooms are very clean and modern, and the pride taken in this podiatry medical office, is quite evident. The main thing, my concerns were addressed, I was treated with care and expertise, never felt rushed or dismissed, and was given clear instructions during my consultation. I would give this place zero stars simply because of their billing practices and front desk staff. I came into this office because my foot doctor retired and I was having an emergency. The doctor was great and the procedure went well. Except he asked me to come in for two follow up visits. The first follow up visit was free of charge for me, even though the receptionist tried to collect my copay. This was covered under a "global" period since I had just paid for the procedure the week prior so I didn't have to pay a copay. The doctor said my toe was healing great and had zero issues. But he still asked me to come in two weeks later to check again. Thinking it would still be under the umbrella of my initial procedure, I went. Both follow up visits were less than a minute long. After the second follow up visit they billed my insurance for a third time and asked me for a co-pay. This time, apparently, it wasn't covered under a "global" period and they billed my insurance for a regular doctors visit instead of a follow up which is what it was. Again each follow up visit was less than a minute long (after driving in from Suffolk county during a work day). Why would the doctor ask me to come in for a third time for an absolutely pointless appointment if it was no longer under the "global" period? The answer is to scam me and my insurance and make money for doing nothing. I voiced my concern over this several times at the office, over the phone and to my insurance. Today, while staring my frustration over a complete waste of my time and money, the front desk told me "well at least you have insurance some people don't." What does that have to do with this issue? Yes, the health care system in this country is a complete scam and harmful to everyone. I'm well aware. But that's not the issue here and was a completely inappropriate and out of line comment. She also said "I had witnesses in the waiting room" from my last visit when I also tried to fight this charge. Seems like a threat to me. What an awful way to treat people. Not everyone has $50 to throw away. Shame on this awful place. I am now on the hunt for a new foot doctor. I wish mine hadn't retired. read more

I had foot surgery to remove bone spurs. The surgery was done by Dr Erica Papathomas. Dr Papathomas is fantastic. Surgery went off on time and the aftercare and follow up were tremendous. Dr Papathomas is thorough, competent and has a wonderful bedside manner. Her staff is cordial and got me in to all my appointments on time or early. Don't be fooled by the "best podiatrist in Long Island" ratings that this place keeps getting. The ratings are mostly due to the fact that before, during, and after every appointment you have, you are forcibly given a flyer and basically begged to vote for them. Rather than ask how you are doing, the receptionists, nurses, and doctors will ask if you voted yet. So take that prestigious rating with a grain of salt. I was a patient here for about a year and in that time, the turnover of doctors was ridiculous. I saw three different podiatrists (all three are no longer at the practice) and was given no notification that my old podiatrist left and no reason why. So each time I came in for a follow-up appointment for an existing condition, I had to start all over again with a new doctor, three separate times. My condition was never resolved and I got so frustrated, I just stopped going back. I had a nodule removed from my toe and it was "sent away to radiology" and came back and apparently neither my doctor at the time or the radiologist could determine what it was. So I had to pay up to my deductible for the radiology that determined nothing. And no alternative was offered. I've since moved to California and decided to take up care with a new podiatrist and finally get this issue resolved. I call to get my records sent over and after being questioned as to why I want my own records sent to a new podiatrist, I'm told that there is a fee, but the individual who handles that isn't in and I had to call back the next day to even get information about how much the fee would be. Even if I wanted to go back to Cherrywood Foot Care (I don't), I couldn't because I'm living over 3,000 miles away on the other side of the country. Yet, I'm still expected to pay to get my own records sent over. I didn't read that anywhere in the HIPAA terms that I signed during my first visit and have never encountered that any other time I've had to get my records sent over to another doctor. Sure, I've filled out a privacy form or a release authorization, but never a fee. All this place cares about is your money. I'm sure there's a reason as to why the doctors keep dropping from this office like flies. The website is just a marketing scam to get customers, but when a serious condition arises, it seems like this place doesn't know how or doesn't care to handle it. But the poor communication, quality of service, and quality of doctors is a big enough reason to stay away from this place. read more

My daughter was a taken on the same day we called as a new patient. She had a seriously ingrown toenail which Dr. Papathomas cheerfully fixed. She also offered and performed a more permanent solution right then and there while the toe was already numb. We've been to 3 other podiatry offices for the same issues and they always ask her to wait and come back. (By the time the nail healed I could never get her to return for the procedure.) The entire staff at Cherrywood is wonderful. We had a great experience and my daughter actually looks forward to going back for the check up. After consulting with my Rheumatologist, he has placed me on a medication regiment for now. In light of this new treatment, please cancel my appointment that I had scheduled for Dr. Erica Papathomas, on Sat. 1/20/2018 at 9AM. Also if you could, inform her that her diagnosis was spot on. Having seen in the past an orthopedic doctor and a prior podiatrist for similar complaints, none of those doctors picked up on this issue or bothered to go the extra mile for a blood test to relate the complaint to actual evidence as to what was going on. Tens of thousands of dollars wasted on MIRS, x-rays, sonograms, injections and on doctors that failed to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Your practice should really be proud that you employ such an outstanding Doctor as "Doctor Papathomas". This new direction however does eliminate me as a patient, if my turf toe, which is different from gout, flares up again, I will be running back, well not running" hopping", to see Doctor Papathomas. I also will be coming in for my orthotic inserts every 6 months. In addition my wife will soon be coming in to see Doctor Papathomas and I will recommend her to anyone that requires her services. This is my first review online and I am doing so because I want to warn people about this office, Cherrywood Foot Care. According to this business, they have been rated #1 and The Best by voters. I went to this office because of location and because of this rating. This office was recommended to me by another health professional, as well. The doctors in this office seem to know very little about orthotics. I have flat feet and bunions. The orthotics ordered for me do not fit properly. At this point, I cannot wear them at all because they hurt my feet. I have seen another doctor who told me that the orthotics ordered for me at Cherrywood were not supportive enough for my feet. He also provided a diagnosis, which was never discussed at all by any of the doctors at this office. The doctors at this office did not want to hear what I was telling them. I experienced a very low level of attentiveness by the doctors. Something is not right with this office. Find a doctor who is affiliated with a teaching hospital. Avoid this place. Paid $950 for laser fungal nail removal (my insurance didnt cover it) which did absolutely nothing and failed. I was told in the beginning of the treatment that it would work wonders and significantly remove the fungus after a few sessions. Lo and behold a few sessions go by and literally, it did nothing. Every session is extremely painful and an incredible amount of burning, but despite going through this, I saw absolutely no improvement whatsoever. When I asked why, and asked about all their promises before I started treatment, an office staff member and doctor (forget their names) revealed that "further" treatment was necessary and that my condition was "advanced." Thanks, had I known that I would have sought other forms of treatment, like Lamisil or something else, which maybe would have saved me some money, and maybe covered by my insurance. Then they started asking for me to book more sessions and drop another $950. This office is a failure and their laser treatment is a scam. Save yourself money, hassle, and headaches and go to a reputable podiatrist. read more

Went for appointment to pick up Orthotics today. I understand I have to see a Dr. and can't just pick them up so that a copay can be charged for the visit. But, I had an 11:45 appointment and didn't see the Dr. until 12:45 - just to pick up Orthotics. I would have appreciated being told "we are running late. Would you like to come back later or reschedule?" instead of being told "the dr. will see you soon." The receptionist was very understanding and handled my agitation very professionally. However, the Dr. who I think is new was not very professional in appearance or manner, at all. As a matter of fact he looked like he just rolled out of bed after a long hard night. read more

You doctor asked me what my problem was, took x-rays of my feet and told me I had plantar fasciitis. She never looked at my foot. When I asked her what I could do to ease the pain she told me a cortisone shot. I told her I didn't want the shot what else could she recommend. She walked out of the room. I was dismissed. Their laser fungi nail removal did not work for me and was quite painful. I wasted $450 plus $50 for laboratory (to prove that's what I have). I went there 3 times and experienced a great deal of pain for absolutely nothing. Don't waste your time and money and spare yourself some pain. Hope this helps someone. Dr Burke is very professional and talks to you on a very down to earth level. I always feel that he is not rushing me out of the office to get to his next patient. I don't normally write reviews, but felt I should warn some people before scheduling a free consultation. I came into Cherrywood almost a year ago for a free consultation for the laser for toe nail fungus. A few weeks later I received a bill in the mail. I called them up and the lady stated she would take care of it and I don't have to pay anything. About a month later I received another bill for the same thing. I called them again and the lady stated she would look into it and call me back. She never called me back and I kept getting bills in the mail. I received a phone call a few months later from a different lady and when I called her back and told her I had already spoken to someone there and that I came in for a free consultation. She told me the same thing, that she would look into it and call me back. She never called me back. So now I have received another bill for the same thing again only this time they sent it over to a collection agency. Beware of scheduling a free consultation with this place, they might wind up charging you for it. read more

Yesterday, after 3 months of nail fungus laser treatment paid by credit card in full, I was informed that the Doctor who assured me 90% nail improvement had left or was fired and that maybe I was expecting miracles if I wanted to see improvements for more than 40% . By the way, the previous Doctor was more interested in in selling the treatment and products. I said I was not expecting miracles but by now I wanted to see at least some improvements, which by the way now my nails look worse than when I started the treatment. After, my visit they were quick to ask for the copayment and I explained that the visit was just a follow up from the laser treatment. I refused to pay the copayment and will call my insurance. In overall, I was robbed of my money and Cherrywood Foot Clinic will not even give me an option. According to Dr. Hailemichael, I am expecting miracles.
