I called and explained our situation, that we wouldn't be home for several more weeks. They worked us in right away, within a few hours. Once we arrived, we were welcomed and my son was seen almost immediately. About 10 minutes later we were on our way, problem fixed and explained so that I have information for our home orthodontist. Not only was our experience A+, they wouldn't accept payment for the work. I was blown away! I didn't know businesses existed like this anymore. Thank you Seaside Smiles! If you're looking for an orthodontist, I would recommend Seaside Smiles with no reservations.

After over 2 years on a waiting list, finally got an appointment on 12-6-23 at Chesapeake Dental in…read morePrincess Anne (AKA Chesapeake Health Care). I knew I was overdue a cleaning and had 3 teeth that I'd probably want extracted, or at their rates possibly crowned but leaning toward extraction, I have all my teeth and these were not front teeth. Before the exam they took my blood pressure (not following proper procedure) which was very high. Then waited a minute and took it 2 more times dropping 51 points by the third reading. I've never had any issues related to my blood pressure. Then the Dr. advised me due to the high BP readings they would require a medical release form from my regular doctor before they could proceed. I went to my doctor on 12-8-23 and had the form completed. There my blood pressure reading was high (they also did not take it as recommended sitting in a chair feet flat on the floor and back supported with arm at same level as heart or 1/2 inch higher and the cuff not being too loose or tight), but their conclusion was "Patient is asymptomatic, Medically stable to proceed". I returned the signed form to the dentist the same day. A few weeks later I was given an appointment on 01-31-24 for a scaling/cleaning which I kept. At that time I was told by the CHC Dr. that they would not be able to do extractions or crowns because of the previous BP readings although the hygienist was suggesting I'd have 4 more appointments for deeper cleaning (root planing). This was a disconnect between the hygienist and the Dr. apparently. Then the CHC Dr. returned with my referral form to have root canal work done elsewhere and then crowns yet somewhere else. She brought the copy of my Doctor's medical release form "in case I need it". I suggested I would not want crowns, but prefer extractions at my age. They did not offer any remedies and I did not make an appointment at the referral doctor partly due to the extreme costs. I was at Chesapeake because their rates are based on income and I am on SS retirement. Not willing or able to spend thousands on dental work. On Feb. 1 I wrote a letter directly to the dentist asking some important questions such as why did I get a referral from my doctor about BP if they were going to ignore the results? Would I be turned away from their "emergency" service? Do they service sedentary or obese people who have higher risks of cardiac issues? Also explaining why I avoid prescription meds etc. along with a link to a cardiologist who recommends not treating BP with drugs based simply on numbers when there are better ways to tell if the BP is causing the patient any harm. Every person should not have exactly the same BP, we are not machines. I waited over 6 weeks to get some sort of reply from someone there (I suggested the Dr. share my letter with policy-makers there) but have heard nothing. This is NOT "Health Care". So wanting to clearly understand what their policies are (for my own sake and others) I sent an email to their "complaint" email (complaints@chesapeakehc.org) on 3-18-24 asking what postal address to forward some info to, as I had several pages and supporting documents. I planned to forward my original letter, a follow-up and copies of all documents. I never received any reply from the email. On 4-16-24 I called their corporate office again to get an address and name to send my concerns to. I mailed a letter there that day. I never received any reply to my letter (again). This is not only unacceptable and dangerous "health care" but also taking someone's blood pressure incorrectly can be a life or death event... if they are told it is high and they need medications, some have very bad side effects and if the patient's BP is NOT high meds could cause other issues like Low blood pressure, etc. And these meds are supposed to be taken for life, or if they are doing it wrong it could show being low when it isn't . It's just plain awful business to not respond to a consumer or patient's inquiry. They shouldn't be in business. However regardless of reviews they will continue to have patients because some cannot afford anything else. On Apr. 9, 2024 I had a regular appointment with my family doctor, who took my blood pressure properly (but only once) and it read 140/92. Probably a bit elevated due to "white coat syndrome" and it was a new Dr. I had never been to. UPDATE: Not surprisingly after I wrote this review they posted a reply telling me to contact MS. Brittingham, who I directly sent a package to months ago as well as the dentist and an attempt at their complaint email. This person must have not really read my entire review, in fact I'm pretty sure this is an automated response. Most of their patients are low income people who have little choice about going elsewhere. I replied to this and again no response.

I stopped in today to drop off a check for a charity which doctor Gaylord and her hygienist Cindy work with every year in Guatemala. They both travel to Guatemala and provide free dental care to the Mayan people way back in the hills. These people are desperately poor and they are a full day's walk away from any dental Care. Imagine that you or your child had a horrific toothache and needed to have a tooth pulled and were faced with a full day's walk. And there's no Holiday inn waiting at the end of the rainbow either. This charity for years now has been providing fluoride in the water of the Mayan people to prevent the problems necessitating dental Care. They've had much success and can see the improvement year-to-year in the teeth of the patients they do see. 100% of the money to support this fluoride charity goes to the purchase of the fluoride. There are no administration fees or golden parachutes for the people who run the Charity. My daughter is 13, and I'm encouraging her independence, so when she preferred to go back alone, I waited in the lobby. The hygienist called her in, clearly aware I was her parent. After the cleaning, the dentist came in (walking right past me in the waiting area) to complete the exam and review the X-rays. It was determined my daughter had a cavity. At no point did either the hygienist or dentist speak with me directly. Instead, paperwork was handed off to the receptionist, who briefly told me my daughter would need to see a different dentist and gave a referral. That was the entirety of the communication. I chose not to follow their recommendation and instead sought care with another provider where communication was prioritized and we felt more supported. Clear communication is essential in healthcare, especially when treating children. Unfortunately, this office fell short. I would not recommend.
