She also went out of her way to go back to the cabin to look for my missing ring that I was hoping I had left in one of the bedrooms. My room had the usual dated feel that you expect from an older small roadside property but it was well maintained and clean. I can't emphasize enough how clean it was from the towels and linens to the fixtures and furnishings. Debbie was nice and helpful when she greeted me during checkin. The property was quiet. My only complaint was that the house out back kept their flood light on. I am an astronomy buff so I was hoping to get some quality dark sky viewing in since I am from Atlanta and never get views like that. No big deal and probably kept on for safety. If you are staying here, please consider that fact that there is one restaurant open in the area. That may or may not be your cup of tea so plan accordingly. I highly recommend this property.

We had a condo that sat up over the lake with awesome views. Our condo was a 2br with loft, 2 baths, full kitchen and great gas fireplace. The units are older but very well maintained. Had everything we needed. So much to do in the area such as Ashville, the Biltmore, Chimney Rock State Park and the very cute town of Chimney Rock. A car is definitely needed for the area. Services and large grocery store nearby. Local smaller stores and restaurants will have limited hours if at all so be prepared during off seasons. The resort itself has lots to do onsite with golf, putt putt, spa, tennis, fishing etc. Perfect place to either stay busy or just relax. 1 tip: if you aren't used to twisty turny mountain roads make sure to arrive while it's still light.

We were so lucky to snatch up this cabin for Memorial Day weekend! It was exactly what we needed…read morewhen it came to relaxation, but also comfort. The cabin has a fully-stocked kitchen (utensils and gadgets and such; not food), the bed and couch were comfortable, and the wrap-around porch was divine. I even played on the swings in the front yard and waved at passers-by like I owned the place. The location is fabulous. There's a cute little stream right across the street, and then great hiking (with waterfalls!) not far at all. A lot of the folks who signed the guest book mentioned that they hiked Mt. Mitchell, which is practically in the backyard. The owners make it quite clear that there's coffee, filters, creamer, and other condiments in the cabin, but there's no way for them to know if they've been depleted. I really appreciated the heads-up, but they have folks managing and cleaning the place in between visitors, so it would be way more convenient and relaxing if those things were just taken care of. Same goes for taking out the trash--you have to take it with you on your way out of town (or they charge you $10 per bag left at the cabin). Overall, though, the cabin was great, the price was right, and the owners were really responsive. Plus, I love that it's dog-friendly! We'll definitely be back.

Was so thrilled to stop here today on our anniversary and ask if we could walk around for nostalgia. We were told by man who worked in office, that we were unable to due to liabilities. We totally understood and said we would just look past the bushes from the road and take a picture of the Evening Shade sign. He was fine with that. Within a few minutes, a woman came out from office and yelled at us from a distance very rudely "you can't be here and you need to leave!" Then she turn around and left. Apparently she worked there. I quickly got in the car to leave with my husband. I then decided to go back into the office to ask her why she was so rude. She said she wasn't rude. We were taking a picture in front of evening shade sign.

I first noticed a YBJPC years ago, and finally made it for a stay!…read morePositives: Our cabin was very secluded and private (highly recommend #44), there is SO much to do with the kids (both included and some with a fee), there is a VIB pass that includes a lot of activities (this will also be below), the bartender at Scout's Table made great drinks, golf carts to get around are a MUST, this particular location is BEAUTIFUL and the store was opened from 8am-9pm and they have just about anything you could need during your stay! Not as positive: The only staff that was not bothered to be at work was the girl that traveled around with yogi and the man bartender at scouts table, besides them - we did not have pleasant vibes from staff. The VIB pass has potential, but no one we spoke with knew where to get the popcorn bucket filled, no one knew about the refillable drink cup and overall it seemed like there needed to be a staff briefing on these passes. The food wasn't great at the restaurant/snack bar, not a huge deal because our cabin had a way to cook some food. As a whole, we really enjoyed our time. We will definitely come back again.

The maintenance man who confirmed the presence of bed bugs reported that this has been a repeated problem for these cabins. We reached out to yogi bear by phone and by email to alert them and ask for compensation. It's been 8 days and they still haven't responded.
