It's tough to rate this one, but I will try and be specific: Overall - somewhere between 3 and 4. A lot of factors go into that, but am going to do 4 stars because i definitely don't want people to be discouraged to come. Just make sure to research your costs and plan to spend once you're there. Scenery and views - 5 - I'll let the pictures speak for themselves! Experience - 4.5 - lots of fun things going on here, some with additional $$, but still overall fun things to do. The favorite things were the lake and pool, next were mini golf and playground, and last was "gem mining". Food and drinks - 4 - Overall the ice cream and frozen drinks stood above. The pizza, sandwiches, and wraps were about the middle of the road. Lodging - 3.5 - we had one of the "tree houses", which was a full with a pull out and a small couch. Sheets and blanket were extra cost. I will say, it was at least nice to have keys to a specific bathroom just for the room. Was tough for our mother-in-law to navigate the walking; would not recommend these if you need something more accessible or for seniors. Value for price - 3.5 - Based on the pricing around the golf carts, tree houses, food/drinks/gift shop, and RV prices it was above average costs. This may be increased due to some other factors; obviously we were still here and invested, just sharing. Staffing - 3 - must be struggling with some employee shortages, more often than not lines were abundant and it was hard to find someone on the grounds. Folks in stands appeared to be stressed and were a bit short at times. Felt rushed at check in, even though we were the only people there for the entire duration (gave up on questions after about 10 minutes).

So much fun!! Great family space, especially if you have young children!! We have 10, 8, and 5. All had a blast! We will definitely be back next year! Cabins were clean and tidy. Only issue We had was with wasps in our cabin (we killed about 6 flying around inside). We called the front desk and no one answered. Left a message and someone called back the next day. We couldn't be in the cabin, so went out and found a groundskeeper who gave us wasp spray and we were able to take care of them ourselves. He did offer to come spray for us but my husband took care of it. Can't wait to go again! Everything else was perfect!

Loved it so much we stayed an extra day! Only one reason I gave it 4 stars, the price. It was expensive for what you get. We brought our travel camper, 4 adults and 2 under 17. It was $263 a night. And that doesn't include a lot of things. Basically only includes the pool, playground & jumppad. $30 per person per day is steep to me. Like I said it was a great trip but will probably not be back anytime soon. Glad we did it and had that experience. The water park area was awesome. The pool was great. The snack bar was good. Pizza $18 Cheeseburger combo $13 Ice cream was good. $4.50 a scoop Scouts table was good. The fried pickles was amazing!! Cheese steak was ok. $13 just the sandwich. Cocktail $13 We went for the free craft and there was a line. We waited like 40 min to get to the window and them to tell us the free craft was "right there" ended up getting the ceramic craft $11 each. It was a cute ornament. Tip: use the markers and or instead of the paint. Tyedye shirts $15 each. Cute, fun, Felt rushed through. No real direction. The young people working the station were super nice but the needed to speak up louder. The Hey hey wet water hey ride was a blast!! That was free. They have a rewards program. I think they should include more for the price. Like maybe a cheeseburger combo or a free craft upgrade or even a free scoop. Anything to make me feel like I was getting something for the price we paid. It was very nickel and dimed. All that being said - Go for it, you will have a great time! Core memories for sure!

As my Opinion I love this Place, It's a Very Fun RV and Camper Resort, and It Has a Rollercoaster Going Down and Around a Mountain. The Pool has a Bar and a Restaurant and it also has a Photography Point with Yogi Bear! I recommend it to Anyone who desires to Camp here!

We prefer the river sites personally for the views & fishing. The campground owners are fantastic people who've become friends. They live on site and take great pride in the property. The property is always impeccable. They are always working. Such a gorgeous place!! The pond is in the center of the property - yes you can fish (catch & release). Areas setup with hammocks, corn hole, seating, etc. The new playground has been a big hit! Oh, and there's also a dog park area. The bathhouses are super clean and have air conditioning. The laundry room is brand new with great units and also A/C. They incorporated additional activities this year over at the pavilion which our family has loved! Bingo, tie-dye t-shirts, food trucks, live music, and more! Our grandson loves to join us. Lots of kids and a great area for them to all play. Tubing the river is always a fun treat! You can bring your own tubes or rent from the campground. The camp store has expanded and features a great mix of items - t-shirts, hats, hoodies, koozies, and more. As well as local jams, rubs, and other treats. They're in the process of building a new office/camp store so we're excited to see this complete. We have a 40' fifth wheel. No problems every getting in. They accommodate all size rigs. All sites have a concrete pad, fire pit and very nice large picnic table. Sites are spacious and do not feel cramped like we've experienced at other campgrounds. Wi-Fi is generally pretty good. We've been able to work remote on some of our trips. We even had phone service our last trip (AT&T)! Lots to do in the area! Hiking, Linville Winery (yum!), Linville Caverns, Grandfather Mtn and so many other great places. The office staff can certainly provide plenty of recommendations, too. There are 2 grocery stores in town about 15min away. There's also a local dollar store about 5min away. We cannot say enough good things about MRFC. We've met some great campers there who we now call friends. We truly love this place and already have bookings for next year!

It was the high capacity (50 ppl and 10 cars), with flush toilets, shelters, and no outright policy against alcohol that sold me on the cradle of forestry campground, Briar Bottom located in the Black Mountain Campground. We camped one night at Red Oak. We had booked for two but, sometimes when you camp at the tail if the season (end of October) in the shadows of Mount Mitchell you aren't guaranteed the prettiest of weather. Getting here on those mountain roads was quite the adventure. Bring printed directions as you're going to loose cell service the closer you get. If you're headed to the group camp just turn into the camp ground, and proceed left. You'll go for quite a way but once you've reached the ford you're pretty much there. Yep, you've got to cross a creek running down the mountain side. It's tile bottomed so there's not too much to worry about. There were 8 of us that camped and it was pretty much a cold downpour (36 degrees) from when we arrived so it was a huge bonus that all the sites have shelters with space to put together tents, and put on those rainflys before staking them down. Having two picnic tables were great because they were under the shelters too. All in all I'll totally come back when I'm visiting my home state and I need a beautiful place to camp at a reasonable cost.
