Co-owner Josh Cohan was particularly helpful, going above and beyond by helping guide my young nephew when he could as it was his first time riding downhill. Really speaks volumes when uppermost management/ownership makes time like that. Green trails push the rider and that classification at the onset. A bit challenging for a day one rider, but we had it pretty dialed in just in time for a brilliant sunset that is frequently the cap of a long day riding out here. Shuttles are efficient, and the facilities are excellent - very clean, and include everything from a full service shop to showers. Also a big fan of the frequent races and events, and always appreciate being surprised at random by a new food truck that's parked in the man lot for a day or two. All in all, very grateful to have such an awesome place to get out into nature just a stones throw from the city.

The park is built for down hill mountain biking and does not disappoint. The bike park is organized like a ski mountain with green, blue, black, and double black expert courses. The park headquarters Ahmad great amenities bathroom, showers, bike was down station. The boast a full service mechanic shop and gear for days. The park offers loft service via a truck and trailer to a drop off point close to the top of the mountain. The shuttle service is worth it unless you are on an eMTB. The shuttle pick up is just a short ride from the main parking and park headquarters. They made the ride to the shuttle pretty fun with some tight berms and a solid step up to wet the pallet. Once on the shuttle the crew will take you to a drop off point near the top of the mountain. The shuttle takes about 10-15 min. Once at the drop off there is a map to direct you to the trails. All trails are well marked and appropriately described. There is the option to bike up higher on the mountain to access a few black diamond enduro trails that are well worth it. Green trails: These are not your average green trails. One can expect to some chunkier gnarly then normal steepness and features. Blue trails: I really feel like this is where the park starts to come to life. These trails were technical and flowy and just great. My beginner rider girlfriend actually appreciated the blue flow trail more than the green one open to us when we visited. Black trails: The black diamonds were dialed. Just enough intensity to leave you feeling more than satisfied. Over we had an amazing experience at Jarred's Place. The trails offered up some rewarding challenges and some opportunities for progression. I would highly recommend Jarred's to any serious mountain biker out there. Can't wait for my next visit.

This was my first time visiting a dedicated axe throwing establishment and it was super fun. The…read moreinterior atmosphere is super chill and inviting which added to the social experience. There are at least 8 lanes, maybe 10. The wooden targets were in good shape, the lanes included holders for the axes, and erase boards for scoring. There's a second room that had corn hole games but I didn't see any information regarding it. My group consisted of just myself and one other. There was no one else in the establishment while we were there on a Saturday evening. The guy manning the counter was friendly and took the time to show us a few different ways to throw the axe after we signed a waiver and read over the venue rules. An hour was a bit long for just two people to throw and our arms hurt a bit by the end but we had a good time. It cost $20 a person to throw for an hour which is a bit steep but was okay for an occasional splurge. I've since been to a place that charges $50 an hour for a lane with up to five people. If the price were closer to $15 a person I would be more likely to visit regularly when in town.

There is a double gated concrete entry area that is massive and has an exit into both the big and small dog park. There is a very nice concrete walking path that goes all the way around the dog park as well as multiple places to sit, some of them even have overhead coverings. There is a very nice water feature along the concrete path as well as a tremendous amount of biological landmines to make sure you stay on the concrete path! There are multiple agility items and the ground covering is mostly grass although there is some wood chip sort of stuff? You park right next to the dog park and the parking is more than ample. This is a beautiful, incredible state park that is so worth the trek (driving and walking wise)…read more There are a couple different lookout spots you'll want to check out, and at the security hut they give you a map so you know where to go. All of the workers were so friendly and helpful here. The hike at the very top was perfect- about a mile or so, the scenic lookout is about halfway through so you can take a break if you need. There's a good amount of elevation to get your heartbeat going but then it calms down after awhile. At the outlook, it would be easy to sit and enjoy the few for a long time. It's stunning. You can also take a fork in the path to visit the Fort that's here (thus named Fort Mountain). There are some info signs explaining the mysterious origins of the fort and it's pretty interesting.

Fort Mountain State Park is one of few favorites places to visit, especially in the spring or in…read morethe fall. The scenery is simply picturesque. Despite the harsh cold winds of winter, we had the sun which made it bearable and our hike was splendid on the day we visited. Our first stop had to be the visitor center to get a new annual pass & patches. The attendants helped us secure the pass that best matched our needs. The visitor center has restrooms and a gift store. For my girlfriend, it's always difficult to resist the items --- t-shirts, stuffed animals, historical books, camping supplies, snacks --- they sell there. If I am not mistaken, I believe they also sell firewood and ice for those looking to camp. If you need a map of the park, it can be found here as well. We then headed to the lake to hike the trail that circles it. It's an easy trail, so it makes for a nice walk for chatting and stopping to admire the views of the lake and mountainside. The beach at the lake is relatively small, but the facilities there are nice, with boat rentals, playground, picnic tables, and putt-putt golf. Im assuming a lot of these services are seasonal because we saw no one using them. I did like that there was a ramp that led from the parking lot to the beach for visitors that may have mobility issues. We hiked several different trails, and all were well blazed. The trails that led to fire tower and the stone wall had informational signs. Unfortunately the fire tower can only be viewed from the outside. I would love to see the view from the top! But if it's views you are interested in, checkout the overlook trail! The view is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! We also did the Big Rock Nature Trail (trailhead is near the lake dam). The 3/4-mile trail led to a beautiful waterfall. We didn't touch the Gahuti Trail this time, but we plan to do it next time we come back; it's challenging but very beautiful from what I have read about the trail. I would recommend it if you have a day for a hiking adventure. Snacks and water are required. The cabins and cottages all look well maintained from the outside and are located in beautiful areas of the park. We didn't check out the campground, but it's near the lake, but Fort Mountain State Park seems to have something for everyone!
