The building is infested with mold and should have been condemned twenty years ago. It's so dirty and the carpet so rancid that the entire place stinks so bad, it will take your breath. The back hallway is full of piles of soiled linens that have been there so long that maggots are actually growing in them. There is no excuse for the condition of this place or the inexcusable treatment of the families that have been subjected to this filth and disrespect. I can't understand how it hasn't been shutdown by the state. I am seriously considering contacting the state board of funeral service to file a formal complaint. I'd really like to see this "business" shut down for the good of the community.

Justin, Malachi, etc we're all consummate professionals from the very beginning. Like many people that are confronted by the untimely decisions that come with an unexpected death..I was a bit emotional at the time everything transpired when I arrived at their business. They took the time to explain every decision to me, make sure I understood everything that I was signing, and helped me along with one of my friends pick out the stationary, the vault, casket, organize the services, etc. They and their staff were constantly available to answer any and ALL questions I had which took a huge amount of stress off of my shoulders. It was also extremely convenient how I was able to upload the selections of the songs that were played in rotation at the memorial, as well as the pictures on the website for the chapel services. After the graveside service by my moms chosen pastor they remained in contact to answer other questions that I had regarding followups about the death certificates as well. In addition, they worked to get the funeral done in a professional expedient manner despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend. They actually called Beal Memorial cemetery ahead of time - to make sure that the manager was on staff so I could set up everything there. I made it there with an hour to spare! I was attempting to arrange a pre-need payment plan for a relative who is still living in Monticello, wasted precious time talking to his assistant over the course of several days, and had the money for a down payment ready to send, before I was turned down cold because I could not fly down there at the drop of a hat and meet with this owner person who "prizes the personal connection" and insists on meeting family members and "getting to know them" before authorizing a prepaid plan. I maintain that this is absolutely unnecessary unless he just wants to make sure that I am white, or wants to pressure me into something more expensive and unaffordable by putting me into a high-pressure, emotionally stressful situation. Meeting me has nothing to do with arranging a simple pre-payment plan online. I found his statement of "wanting to get to know me" creepy and unprofessional. I do not want to get to know him. I just want to arrange a pre-paid service, period, end of story. Must be nice if business is so good you can afford to turn away potential paying customers just because you can't look them over first.
