This was Tallahassee's only official burial ground for a long time, which means that it has a complete cross section of citizens laid to rest here. From governors to shop keepers and even yes, a witch. Soldiers from the Confederacy and the Union are buried here too. Smooth paths and some rough spots if you're prefer to walk further. There is so much history to be learned at these sites, and this cemetery is no exception. Arriving here, I was met by the groundkeeper when he informed us we can take a free tour of the grounds. Parking is limited, but I was able to park inside. The whole walk around the cemetery took about 30 to 45 minutes. Are you brave enough to walk inside cemetery?

There's a small unmarked break in the security fence and a small peninsula of unsecured land near the end of TLH Runway 27. Yes, the cemetery is open to the public and it's an active cemetery. I noticed a number of very recent headstones and yes, a few older ones. The Reverend L.D. Elliott is laid to rest here and he passed in 1922. The "restricted area" signs are to keep people from going onto the airport property. You can absolutely visit the cemetery. Just please be respectful. Adderly passed away back in 1975 and is best remembered as a jazz saxophone player. He was most famous during the 1950's and 1960's. Very little information on this cemetery. Two famous musicians are laid to rest here - Julian "Cannonball" Adderly and his younger brother, Nathaniel "Nat" Adderly. It is in good condition with well-paved lanes and clipped grass. There do not seem to be any limits on headstone sizes or flowers as the cemetery is quite busy with them.
