The staff are very professional, very helpful and capable. I found the vet I saw (Teresa) was extremely friendly, very caring and very honest. She put me at ease and was very thorough with explaining the advice regarding my cat. I felt genuinely cared for and would not hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone.

They are so knowledgeable, so professional and most importantly - the staff are all such kind people! We usually bring Beeswax to see Ava and she is great with him. She's straightforward, explains everything clearly and has such a gentle and kind demeanor. I recently saw the other vet, Ian and he was so accommodating when I needed to drop in at the last minute. Leanne is usually at the front desk and is such a delight. She is so welcoming, so helpful and incredibly sweet! She does some cat sitting on the side as well, and we had her in to look after Beeswax while we were away for a few days recently. She was so great, and Beeswax didn't seem to miss us at all! Again, I cannot recommend Abbey Vet enough. The prices are very fair, the staff are incredibly good at what they do and as I've said before, they are all really nice people! My last vet charged me over £120 for a bee sting. I love this guy. ANNNND he even gave me his cell in case Felix took a turn for the worst. It's a fairly new place to the area, taking over what used to be the Little Chef/Burger King by the by-pass. With that it is large, roomy and modern, not overly clinical and not terrifyingly silent like some vets. They have a number of vets here and you don't tend to wait very long, they really do care about the animals here. Sadly I know this all too well from experience when earlier this year we had to take a pet there to be put to sleep. But the fact that the vet herself cared meant a lot. I've been to other vets where it's just a job, they don't get attached, not even for a second. And though that's good for them it's not so great for the owners of the animals in pain. But here, here they care so much. The pet we bought in was just a young little hamster, but they treated her like she was the most important thing at that moment and tried their very best for her. Alas in the end there was nothing they could do, but the fact that they tried so hard and cared so much does still touch me to this day. This is a fantastic surgery, and long may it be here.

I have used the woolpack for my own animals ( dogs, pigs, horses) for a few years and have always…read morefound them very helpful and welcoming everytime i have needed to use them (glad to say not too often) i now own and run a boarding kennel and have used them a few times when my guests have needed minor treatment plus i have rang them for advise on a few occasions too, i have used several vets in my area but none of them have the feel of being true animal lovers than the woolpack, i have felt they always have time to give advise, they are friendly and care about their patients very much, caring for animals is an extremely hard field to be in, sometimes things just happen and as owners we find the need to blame, being upset, feeling grief and feeling angry about our pets not making it, Vets are not god, they do everything they can to help their patients, sometimes please put yourself in your vets shoes, not only do they feel the sadness of not being able to save an animal, having an emotional owner ripping shreads out of them must be the worst feeling in the world, if vets were miracle workers then no animal would ever die! The Woolpack is in my opinion the best practice in our area and i would trust them with my own life!!

I have seen two different vets now on separate occasions and must say I am impressed. When I moved here from Herefordshire I did some research of the local vets and chose the nearest to home. After a few visits to the vets with both of my dogs and not really happy with the level of service, then by chance passing Barton Lodge in the car, I decided to give it a try the next time one of my dogs was ill, and Im so pleased I did. They will definitely have me as a returning pet owner whilst living in this area which will probably be for a long time yet.

Barton Lodge Veterinary Centre looked after our cat from the time she was a tiny kitten to the end…read moreof her long life. Staff at the practice are always friendly and polite and very caring for the animals they treat. The vets gave great advice about our pet's diet and general care. Their annual reminders about booster vaccinations were extremely helpful this is such an easy thing to overlook when you are busy working. We also were very pleased that they gave our cat an annual health check and I'm sure this is what kept her fit and well and a super pet for 16 years. When she eventually became terminally ill with cancer at the age of 17 one of the vets, the owner, sensitively gave us the prognosis and we were able to decide when the time had come to say goodbye to our pet. This was handled with great sensitivity for which we were very grateful. We will definitely continue to use Barton Lodge their service and expertise is second to none and we have great confidence in them.

Along Dalston Lane there's a row of the most disreputable shop fronts you've ever seen. Mostly…read moreboarded up, several burnt out. If the road wasn't so busy you'd avoid it at all costs. Stuck in this row of unfortunates, the front of Abbey Vets is so small you'd easily miss it. But if you do notice it, you'll see a difference. The tiny windows are bright with green plants. Inside the tiny waiting room is bright and clean. There's only room for four or five chairs, a couple of stands of foods and accessories and a big notice board. In back they only have one small consulting room. To be honest I haven't used them as a vets for a few years: as my cats have become older and their health issues more complex I've not been able to afford a private vets and so go to the local RSPCA hospital. I remember them as being efficient: generally you'd be able to get an appointment quickly, wait only a few minutes and have results of blood tests the next day. My cats were also neutered there (on a voucher scheme for low income folks which they take part in) and later had dentals, all of which went well. I still drop in occasionally for something I can't get elsewhere. Recently I've been going to get prescription diet. It was nice to find they still had my cats on the computer, and I haven't been able to find the foods I'm buying cheaper, even on the internet. Going in is always a pleasure: the receptionist is nice (though you may have to wait while she takes a call or sorts out another customer: this place is busy!) and there's a nice atmosphere.

Kind, capable and caring…read more This large local vets cares for the usual, dogs, cats guinea pigs etc., and also the larger, as the stables at the back accommodate horses and larger beasts. The practice is situated not far from the town centre, on a sloping hill, with a few parking places nearby, and a large car park across the road. The waiting room is pleasant, calm and quiet, and upon arrival the staff will register you and your pet/pets, and will leave you seated until ready to be seen. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and having been in with pets in some silly, and some serious situations, I can say that they often go out of their way to make you and your animal feel at ease. Having had a pet put to sleep by the vets at this place, I can say that the gentle and caring nature of the vets and nurses really helped to make a painful experience a little easier.
