We desperately needed to stop and take a break. This desert heat is no joke. This Chevron was the first fuel station we saw after a few miles into California. The miles long uphill climb was causing the pickup truck to overheat although it never hit the red. Whew! This gas station is the only one for several miles in both directions, so we made the stop (one exit before the rest area that we had already planned to make our stop). Just to be on the safe side, we decided to fuel up and let the truck cool off a bit. It's been doing great on the trip so far. We are almost where we need to be, but maybe we should have taken the detour to see the Grand Canyon. It's only about an hour to the South entrance from here, I think. If you stop here, just know that you will pay a lot more for gas. Like the first reviewer said, it's almost double what we paid before leaving AZ. However, as I mentioned, it is the ONLY gas station for miles!! The next gas station that I saw where we filled up was $3/gal (vs. $5/gal at this one)! Why only 3 stars when the bathrooms were very clean since the employees apparently had just cleaned them?! The post on the door upon entering had a handwritten sign "Wearing Masks are Mandatory"... buuuuuut, none of the employees were wearing masks! So, does that mean only customers are required to be wearing masks in order to enter the convenience store or use their facilities?! Hmmm. There were several tables with bench seats available to relax in the shade by the store and by the trees where you can let your pets walk around ... on a leash, of course. The water feature was not functioning or still under construction. The trees provided ample shade for several cars. Inside the shop, they had a selection of souvenirs, snack foodstuff, and cold drinks available. We just bought some coolant, water, and ice cream bars - ya know, just the necessities! read more

And ladies and queer people please be careful !! if you end up here at night for gas, its very secluded and yt old men staff at night are very homophobic and creepy. My gf and I are both queer and they gave us the most bizarre creepy treatment. I wanted to say something to them but we were in the middle of nowhere at 1am in the morning with no gas and so I had to kept my mouth shut till we were able to drive away safely. LOWER YOUR PRICES. As of 1/12/22 it's over 6.00 a gallon which is ridiculous. We understand you don't have a lot of traffic going through here but please understand your customers are not cash cows. I broke down in the desert and was towed to the station. My tire was fixed temporary by the tow truck to get me to the station when I. Got there my card was frozen due to being out of state and I sat there for 4 plus hours waiting on Onstar to get me help. These people yelled at me and threatened to tow my car . Super clean and gorgeous stop. Yup the gas candy is much more expensive, but it sure is pretty. ($5 vs the usual $3 for the cheap gas). Go enjoy the bathrooms.
