    Beautiful chicken pastilla
    Bridget L.

The interior is poorly decorated and the atmosphere was highly uncomfortable. The place was pretty much empty. Our waitress was the real problem--rude and glared at us while we were eating. Two people in our group had the buffet and the rest ordered a la carte. The buffet is NOT worth it. Very pricey and not many selections. Go with the menu. However, the food was absolutely excellent. First of all, the complimentary bread was delicious and served warm. I had the pastilla for 2 as an entree (quite filling) and I still think about it today. It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory--crisp pastry on the outside, an extremely flavorful chicken filling, topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar. I can't even describe how good it was. Even though I raved about the food, I would not even consider coming back. All-in-all, it was just way too expensive. I was really excited to try Moroccan food for the first time, but I was heavily disappointed--not by the food itself, but by the experience.

Thought we would try something in Gatineau and Moroccan was rated very high. We went on a Thursday night and it was about half full. The service was a bit slow to start, but they were super friendly and helpful. We split the hummus and feast for two with lamb and chicken in the tajine. The feast was a ton of food and very delicious. I loved the chicken in the tajine and the pastilla with seafood was very good. For dessert they brought us a few different cake options. The apple cake was divine! Overall I think it was a nice little spot in Gatineau. Worth checking out if you like Moroccan food.

My mother was visiting from out of town and I suggested we go to Chez Fatima for dinner. I had had a good experience here on my previous visit and hoped my mom would enjoy it as well. Chez Fatima not only did not disappoint, it far exceeded our expectations! Food: Delicious! We ordered the "Feast for Two" between us, which included Harira soup, a pastille (spiced chicken, cooked in pastry, and topped with cinnamon and icing sugar), two tagines (we opted for the lamb with figs and almonds and the chicken with lemon and olives), a vegetable couscous, and dessert (date squares) with mint tea. Every dish was amazing, though our favourite was the pastille. If you haven't had this before don't be surprised by the icing sugar - it's actually a lovely savoury dish with a bit of sweetness that fits so nicely as a course in the meal. The tagines were also amazing - the meat was very tender in both dishes, and we were delighted at how nicely the flavours complimented each other. I haven't had many opportunities to try Moroccan food in the past, and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the dishes here. Ambiance: Warm colours on the walls and interesting moroccan pieces on the walls definitely add to the experience of the meal. Service: Fatima arrived at the restaurant about halfway through our meal. She came over to say hello to each table, some of whom seemed to be regulars. I felt that she genuinely wanted to make sure that everyone was enjoying their meal and having a nice evening. The only negative part of the evening (which wasn't a big deal at all) was that before Fatima had arrived, another family member was waiting tables who didn't seem to know the menu very well. Nothing a little discussion couldn't sort out, but it was a bit unexpected.

Had the buffet, food was okay, not hot enough, though. Nice staff. Loved the shrimp with fried rice. Found a hair in the food.

Hidden gem alert! Looking for Moroccan food? Try Moul Hanout!…read more TLDR: Had the mixed (chicken and beef) sandwich, it was awesome. Welcoming and pleasant staff. I popped in to grab a sandwich and got the Mixed Sandwich ($9.95). I thought it would be chicken and beef mixed together, the way the mix it together when you get a mixed shawarma, but it was actually half a beef sandwich and half a chicken sandwich, just not cut in half, lol. See my pictures. Each half had different sauces and different toppings. I wished other stores would do this. So you can try more varieties ;) The beef was ground beef kabobs and the chicken was chicken breast cubes. The chicken side had green olives and cheese. The beef side had lettuce. They both had different sauces. I can't tell you what sauces but they were delicious. The entire sandwich was tasty and very filling. I loved it. I liked the chicken slightly better, because I like leaner meats. The sandwich is toasted, so the bread was nice and crunchy on the outside. I was served my the owner, Fatiya (sorry if I'm spelling the name wrong). She was very sweet and made me feel very welcomed. She told me their store has been open for 9 months (so they opened around January 2023). She said they serve authentic Moroccan food. They do not modify it in attempts to appeal to a greater audience. I like this attitude. Be true to thineself. She said she feels that people are more willing to try new cuisines these days. I am hopeful that she is right. She offered me a sample of their soup, which she said was called Harira. It was delicious. It had a tomato base, lentils, chickpeas, rice and noodles, among other ingredients, but those were the ones I made out. It was bursting with flavour. She said it's popular during Ramadan because it keeps you feeling full. She also gave me a moroccan tea for me to try. It was fantastic. Minty and refreshing. There were lots of loose tea leaves though, so I had to be careful not to swallow them, lol. If I made this at home myself, I think I would strain it. The store sells tangines as well as Moroccan groceries. They had soap imported from Morocco too. They had snacks, sauces and spices, and lots more. There are some seats and tables if you want to eat in. What a great find! So happy to have had some authentic Moroccan food. They are located in a mini strip mall with pot (cannabis, not cooking vessels) shops on both sides, lol. Strategic placement? Perhaps. Serving sandwiches to people who have the munchies ;) Limited amount of free parking in front of the stores.

I have to say that this location is actually the best one I've had food from to date! The bread was fresh and they were generous with the fillings. So my brother ordered through UberEats and they were having a buy 1 get 1 free deal on 2 different combos. The New Yorker Combo (Pastrami sandwich, fries and a canned drink) for 11.99 and the Berghies Chika Combo (Curry chicken sandwich, fries and a canned drink) for $11.49. So each combo ended up being just $5.75-$6.00. The free one had to be identical to the one you bought. So we got 6 combos in total 2 New Yorker Combos (he paid $1 extra to upgrade the fries to onion rings) and 4 Berghies Chika Combos. He also got a Cappuccino Tiramisu ($4.99) for my mom. I got to eat half of both types of sandwiches and sample both the fries and the onion rings. It was my first time trying the New Yorker sandwich, the Berghies Chika sandwich, as well as the onion rings. I loved everything. So the New Yorker sandwich was my favourite. It was loaded with pastrami that appeared to be fried up, as it was a bit crispy and not slimy like deli meat sometimes is. It also had Swiss cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and diced onions in it, and Brazil sauce. The bread was fresh (unlike the location on Donald St). It was really good. I liked the Berghies Chika sandwich too, but found it too wet and saucy. It was cubes of real chicken breast mixed in a curry mayo sauce, with cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and diced onions. It was tasty, but messy. The onion rings were so crispy. They are breaded instead of battered. They were excellent. The fries I've had many times before. They are shoestring, which are my favourite. Love the fries! For the dipping sauces for the fries, we got the Miami (which is their newest sauce, it's a bit sweet and I loved it), Algerian (their most famous sauce, they sell it by the bottle), Samurai, and Moroccan. They were all tasty and unique. Apparently the American is just ketchup and mayo, so I never get that one, and the Biggie is like McDonald's Big Mac sauce, which I personally find gross, lol, so needless to say, I never get that one either. I had a bit of the Tiramisu (which is imported from France by the way). It was good, but mostly cream with very little cake. I wasn't a huge fan, especially for the price tag. I've always been a fan of Centrale Bergham, ever since I had it for the first time in Montreal. The Bank Street location in Ottawa is good too, but this location in Orleans is my favourite so far in terms of taste. I have never been to the actual Orleans location, and I don't even think I've ever driven by it, so can't comment on the physical location (sorry). However, the food is great :)

When we did get our food, one wraps was lukewarm at best as were the fries. The second wrap was very warm and actually tasty compared to the rest of the food. I would never go back.
