Excellent restaurant. L'accueil y est chaleureux avec le sourire de Bernadette qui a l'air d'humeur toujours égale. Le service est rapide, non guidé et malgré cela de classe. Nous avons à faire à des professionnels. Le poisson est un régal : moules, turbots. Le verre d'accueil offert à l'arrivée est une excellente idée. Juste un bémol : les clients qui fument (une loi a été votée). S'il s'agit d'une terrasse je suis d'accord mais pour le week end de l'ascension 2011 le temps n'étant pas favorable, la terrasse était fermée. Moi qui suis une ancienne fumeuse suis très génée par les odeurs de tabac. Endroit à conseillé vivement, peut être pas en Juillet et Août où ce doit être bondé. Hortense est une institution mais certainement pas une bonne table. Il est politiquement correct de considérer au Cap Ferret, ce restaurant comme un must. Les moules sont trop grasses, le poisson trop cuit et les accompagnements (frites) sont quelconques (si le service n'a pas oublié de nous les apporter) et l'addition est salée au regard de ce que l'on a dans nos assiettes. Le seul agrément de cette institution est la vue magnifique sur le bassin. read more

Si l'orgasme culinaire existe, je crois bien que nous l'avons découvert en allant manger chez Ortense!! Oui oui !! Sa recette de moule à la viande ne se présente plus, mais mon dieu que c'est bon, sans parler de cette délicieuse odeur qui en émane dans le restaurant... Cap Ferret is very expensive, very beautiful and very well guarded by the few tourists that even know the place exists. The food at L'Escale is typical French coastal cooking (ie: fabulous), using local caught fresh seafood that is the best I have ever tasted, so fresh, you can feel the ocean on the food. The atmosphere feels like one big family dinner, relaxed and buzzing with conversation. The view from the seating areas is of the oyster beds and local fishing boats, the land you can see across the water is Bordeaux. Grab a seat outside and for the best views. Heaven on earth (apart from one grumpy waiter who didn't like the English).
