Solid Michelin star restaurant. Strong suit is the presentation of each course (unique decorations…read moreand different plates each time). We had a reservation for Saturday night. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept, and the interior is quite dark and a more formal vibe. We got the Menu Le Theil-de-Bretagne, which was the 6-course menu. There's also a 9-course menu option, although they don't really list or explain that much the difference between the two or what the additional courses are. Note that it takes around 30 minutes in between each course, so it's a pretty long dining experience overall. Our reservation was at 8PM and we didn't get to leave until past 11PM. We started off with some black tea as a palate opener. Then: - beet leaf with filling, chestnut cream, cracker with cheese, and bear / tree shaped crackers: chestnut cream was rich and creamy, crackers are good presentation but just tasted normal, cracker with cheese and beet leaf tasted as you'd expect. - fish: really soft and delicious, texture feels like it's melting in your mouth. sauce had a hint of sweetness which was good contrast to flavor of fish but still complementary. - scallop: favorite course for sure. scallop was super tender and also melted in mouth. loved the addition of the microgreens! - Japanese inspired ikura soup with a croissant pastry: very umami but a bit salty for my liking. but loved the incorporation of Japanese ingredients. the croissant pastry was really good, easily ripping apart and great addition with the sesame bottom. honestly wasn't really sure why the soup and pastry were paired together, but both were enjoyable on their own. - lobster: probably my least favorite course. the lobster was too overcooked, I couldn't even cut into it with a knife and had to resort to biting it. texture was rubbery and dry. - steak: soft and great texture. enjoyed the foaminess of the sauce with garlic. - desserts: soooo many given. the meringue with jasmine cream was incredible, loved the jasmine cream. the coffee / chocolate tartelette was way too sweet for my liking, but baked well with a gooey interior. the lemon sorbet had a foamy cream over it as well which was good, but wishing the ratio of sorbet to cream was better as it was hard to taste the iciness of the sorbet. Overall a quite enjoyable meal that met expectations. Ingredients were fresh which is always great. Really liked the unique sauces / creams each dish came with and how there was flavor distinction between each course. Think improvements can be made on the sauce to dish ratio (sometimes felt like too much and sometimes felt like too little), as well as the cooking time of some courses (the lobster was too overcooked). Shorter wait times between courses would elevate the experience more. Would overall recommend!

I ordered the William Pear which was a disappointment. Had the overwhelming flavour of very cheap whiskey. Daughter ordered a different one that she enjoyed but definitely didn't look like the photos online. Don't think we'll go back.

Brasserie Bellanger - Couldn't decide between the Bernaise sauce or garlic herb butter so got both!

Luca was my server and he was very welcoming in hospitable to this weary traveler. I sat on the patio towards the end of the row so I could take in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. Cheers!

The restaurant itself isn't small, but really not big, so it's definitely worthwhile to make a reservation at least a week or so on advance, otherwise you're pushing your luck. Everyone ordered steak frites (2 rump steak, 2 flank) and no one was disappointed. Steaks were cooked to order, although medium here in France is more like medium rare in the States, just be advised. The restaurant itself is lively and fun with lots of chatting, laughing and good times being shared. Desserts were Crème Brûlée and Apple Crumble, neither of which were disappointing. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and would likely return again. This time with a reservation made well in advance.
