Fabrice and Victor, the two owners, are the most pleasant people you'll ever meet and are eager to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They gave us good recommendations for restaurants, as well as local sites to visit. If it had not been for Fabrice's recommendation, my wife and I would have missed a trip to the Butte of Montsec, a spectacular monument commemorating the Battle of St. Mihiel. Our stay included breakfast with several options. Overall, I can't recommend this hotel too highly. FYI, there is a parking lot close by with free overnight parking.

I was making my way from Belgium through France visiting WW1 American battle sites and cemeteries. This was the fourth hotel I stayed at in as many nights, and was by far the best. As an American, it's a bit difficult to get used to some of the out of the way places and feelings in Europe. This hotel was BEAUTIFUL. The lobby was modern, clean and pretty. The rooms were as well. My favorite part of staying here was the food. Our table of 6 ordered appetizers, entree's, and dessert, and everything was amazing. Every dish was well planned, and executed. If I have one recommendation, it is to stay up after dinner and hope you catch the owner/chef. He is a lovely person, and a joy to speak to. Bone up on your French, and have a wonderful night!

Villa Motel was a wonderful surprise. We were weary from a long day of traveling and were in search…read moreof a good meal. We stayed in Buzancy, about 45 minutes away. We received a recommendation from a local who recommended a pizza place but we had eaten pizza several times this week and were interested in something more adventurous. We found Villa Motel. We were greeted by the friendly hostess who seated us promptly. Our French is not very good, it makes ordering an adventure sometimes. I am also traveling with two diners who are under strict vegetarian diets. We were offered the buffet however since many of the choices included meat, we felt this was not the best option. We inquired about other options. We were offered spaghetti bolognese however that often includes meat so we asked if there was another choice. The hostess offered spaghetti with an omelet. We were unsure of the offer, again our French is not always the best, so she showed us an egg. We were in. I mean, how could you go wrong with that? For drinks, my companions chose hot chocolate and water. I ordered coffee, even though it was with dinner, I really needed coffee. As we waited for our food to arrive we considered our order and were not sure we understood what what had been offered but when the meal arrived, it was exactly as promised! The pasta was cooked to perfection and lightly buttered. It was presented with a tomato and parsley garnish that added the right visual impact. The omelet was impressive. Cooked perfectly with a light and fluffy consistency. It contained at least 3, maybe 4 eggs per omelet and oh boy, it was delicious! The chef (I believe so) came by to check on us. We were delighted to speak with him. As with any good meal it brightened our mood and lifted our spirits. Especially so since it was my birthday and I was away from home, my wife and dog. Once finished, we relaxed shortly, paid for our meal, thanked our host and returned to Buzancy.

The wines were wonderful. The owner? So incredibly nice, so outgoing. Despite the language barrier - I speak no French, he very little English, we were able to connect. The atmosphere is wonderful, and being out away from the city made it so much more relaxing. I would stay again; I would eat there for sure!

Trying to ask questions about the wine list from our waiter at dinner was, uh, almost impossible. Happily Bordeaux is spelled Bordeaux in French too! Who'da thunk it?!?! There is literally no where else to eat in Marre. 328 people is like that I suppose. No grocery stores either, but the good news is the restaurant at Gaulois serves an excellent supper. The room was quiet and charmingly updated. This IS the French countryside, with everything you can imagine included.
