A quaint little place that appears to have the owner (Zoe) running the kitchen and one waiter. Perhaps it would be more staffed during the main summer season. A nice touch was that Zoe appeared to pop out and meet each table. We had a set menu that appeared to have 3 choices for starter and main, but there were more choices for dessert. We had 3 courses plus a bottle of wine to share, which cost EUR16 each. The food was a good quality, with good attention to detail, especially in the presentation. I had grilled mussels to start. These were six large mussels in half a shell each, with garlic, cheese and other flavours. The combination was good and executed well. My wife had french onion soup, which certainly had onion in. She appeared to enjoy it, but couldn't eat all of it as it was filling.
For main course, i had confit duck which was lovely and fell off the bones. it came with lovely honey roasted carrots, roasted potatoes with a hint of rosemary and spinach. My wife had sea bass (with the same accompaniments). she was also happy with her meal.
For dessert, i had apple crumble with cream. it had cinnamon and raisins in. Not my favourite combination but it was well made and tasty. My wife had creme brulee, which was also very nice and well executed.
For the choice of wine we had white.
Normally i would judge the success of a place by the number of locals eating there. I didn't spot any, but judging by the welcome there appeared to be some regulars. We went because it was relayed as great food and great value for money. i'd say it was good food and good value for money.
Whilst the waiter was considerate of our young daughter (doubling up some chairs so that she was higher at the table, and entertaining her at each visit) he later stood up wind at the next table and smoked.
I'd be curious to try it at lunch, but there are other recommendations, so we may not get time. read more
