My husband and I went on the Devil in the White City tour recently and loved it. My husband is a Chicago native and learned some Chicago history that he'd never heard before. Our tour guide, Dave was ridiculously knowledgeable as well as funny and helpful. It's clear that he enjoys his job and that made the evening even more fun. I also emailed Ursula about a related matter and she got back to me quickly and gave me the info I was looking for. I can't wait to book another tour!

This was the haunted alley way where hundreds of people burned in the theater fire.

My boyfriend and I had been wanting to go on this tour for a while, we opted with the Original tour. The tour was lead by Tony, he was a great guide. He knew what he was talking about and tried to make it very fact orientated. He was able to provide his own experiences with the stops we were making which made it even more spooky. Overall the tour was great, they had devices that we were able to use throughout our stops to try to come in contact with the any spirits. My boyfriend and I actually were able to come in contact with one at one stop. I plan to take another tour with these company. I would recommend to everyone!

This is the ad "A full day of paranormal adventure through historic and fabled Northeastern Illinois. We'll board our luxury coach in the quaint village of Long Grove and depart on a whirwhind tour of cemeteries, historic sites, forests and more. From Cuba Road to the the Mineola Hotel . . . from Six Flags to St. Patrick's Cemetery and the notorious "Gate." The tour includes a lunch stop (included) at a haunted tavern, and you may BYOB on the bus. Tour includes coach transportation, fully narrated tour by Ursula Bielski and special guests,, extended stops where you can try out your ghost hunting tools (or ours!), and trivia prizes and giveaways. Only 40 spots available! $80 per person includes luxury coach, full 7 hour-excursion and lunch! I'm sorry but we cannot take more than 40 people on this one! Visit www.chicagohauntings.com and click on any "book now" button for the pop up calendar". Ursula was NOT present. No Mineola hotel. No six flags. They did NOT bring ghost hunting tools as stated. No trivia prizes. No giveaways. Some "stops" were drive bys. At devils gate the majority of guests wanted to see the building foundations. Guides didn't want to come along so we wandered until they came and told us we had to leave to get back by 4. Not really guided. $80 per person is a bit pricey for this tour that lists way more perks than you actually receive. I submitted this review and forwarded it to Ursula so she knew what is actually happening. I got a frankly nasty email back which I will submit a copy of. "Thanks for that. The crowning glory on the week of my mom's death. I'll get you a refund right away. Best wishes and have a great weekend, Ursula " I didn't ask for a refund. Just think they need to provide what's advertised. Someone deleted my first review so here it is again

April 27th (day of a freak snow storm!!) we did the Devil in the White City Tour. It was amazing. I grew up in the South Suburbs and never knew all these events. Now I live on Florida, last year my mom found we are distant relatives of the Couch crypt. I happened to find the Lincoln Park Tour last year( Tony was amazing! ). So I had to return to do the HH Holmes Tour. Our guide was amazing! I wish my old brain could remember his name. He was so knowledgeable on so much history of the city and you can feel his passion on all the subjects. Wish the weather had been a bit nicer, weird snow storm, but we still had a fantastic time and grateful it was a bus tour that day. I miss my city but love coming home to be a tourist.

We took this tour on Saturday October 29th. 2016. We had a fantastic time. It's not so much a ghost tour as its more of a Chicago history tour where tragic events took place. All the sights are supposed to be haunted though. You meet at the Congress Plaza hotel. This was almost a three hour tour. The bus which was wonderful and full of people is parked out front. We did a special 8pm tour. Our tour guide was Jon who was so informative and interesting. He was never boring and his knowledge is incredible. The stops included the site of the Eastland disaster, Hull House, "Death Alley" and the old city cemetery at Lincoln Park. We got off the bus at all the stops and there was lots of narration about each place. We also drive by plenty of interesting sights as well. We had a great time. I wish the tour could of lasted another three hours. I highly recommend this tour company to anyone.

We took this tour over Memorial Day weekend, so it was a full house on the bus. Our tour guide was a kind, unassuming girl with gorgeous, beat-up, Victorian-era-looking button-up boots and a hole in the rear of her black pants. She seemed to know something about the topic, but unfortunately it did not really come across very well once the tour got rolling. First stop was the theatre district where many, many people perished on the opening night of a show. Our guide gave us some great history on the details of the theatre and the fire, and guided us back to an alley where we were told that spots may appear on our photographs. She then went in to great detail about orbs, and other types of spots (forgive me, I love the historical aspect but am not into trying to "capture" paranormal activity so I don't know the nomenclature) that we might see on our photos, and I really lost interest and just wandered around the alley, thinking of what had happened here way back when and trying to picture it. As we were int he alley, another tour came along, Weird Chicago, I think, and their guide began telling the same story. Unfortunately for our guide, the Weird guide was much more interesting to listen to, a natural orator. We visited about three locations in tandem with this other tour, when finally our guide decided to linger at one of the sites so that we would avoid the distraction of having two tours running right next to each other. Throughout the tour, the places we visited and the stories and history that was related to us was very interesting, but again I got the overall feeling that our guide just wasn't really all that into it. I'm glad we took the tour, but this one really didn't measure up to ghost tours that we've taken in other cities. Good for the historical experience, though.

My wife did this tour a couple years ago and highly recommended it, but I wasn't especially interested because I had also gone to school here and figured I knew enough about Hyde Park already. However, she insisted that it would be worth our while and so I agreed to climb on the bus. And it was the absolutely right decision, because the tour was excellent. In fact, it wasn't just a tour of Hyde Park. It included the surrounding neighborhoods of Washington Park, Kenwood, Jackson Park, and Woodlawn. Since this was a UChicago sponsored event much of the information related to the University's investment and involvement in the area. Our tour guide and founder of Chicago Detours, Amanda, is herself a graduate of UChicago and thus she had some additional insight into the relationship with the community. Though the 75-minute tour felt a little slow-going at times, there was much to learn about the vibrant but sometimes troubled history of the area. Amanda has tremendous knowledge and the excursion was both fascinating and entertaining. I can imagine that Chicago Detours would have equally interesting tours of other neighborhoods in this diverse city.

Let me just say…read morethat I have tried A LOT of food tours (both Chicago Food Planet neighborhood tours and TWO chocolate neighborhood tours) and this one ranks up there in the top! Out of all the tours I've done, I learned the most of Chicago history here. We not only stopped off at food locations but also at historic landmarks (i.e. The Drake hotel). It was a rainy AND windy Chicago Sunday, but despite the weather I had an awesome time! Lynn did a really great job with our tour and handled the weather situation without difficulty. What a great easy going guy! We visited: --Pizano's Pizza (I may have found my new favorite pizza spot. The deep dish and thin crust pizza were delicious! I am still trying to figure out how they get that crust so crispy!) --Sarah's (The brownie was definitely good...I've never met a bad brownie, but it was not the best I've had) --Downtown Dog's (Good Chicago hot dog--stay away from those peppers!) --Heaven on Seven (The gumbo was really delicious! I may have to come back to try more food!) --Billy Goat Tavern & Grill (I've lived in Chicago for over 4 years and FINALLY made it to this place! Sadly, the cheeseburger was not good. But I enjoyed learning about the history of the Original Tavern and the Billy Goat. Definitely a Chicago tourist spot to visit, if not eat at) --The Purple Pig (I've been wanting to check this place out too!!! That strawberry ice cream IS DELICIOUS!!!!! It tasted like something from my childhood!!! Very nostalgic for me! The outdoor seating was very nice! I enjoyed visiting ALL the locations on our tour, but my favorite EATERIES were Pizano's, Heaven on Seven, and The Purple Pig. For $44 you definitely get your money's worth if not more. The tour guarantees enough for lunch, but I can tell you that you'll be filled up for dinner too!! LOTS OF FOOD to keep you full. I started cramping towards the end from eating so much!! Just a note for those that decide to come, I recommend NOT driving. Your parking meter will expire. The tour is longer than 2 hours and the tour does not end where it begins. Also, the tour is designed for sit down dining so that you will always have a nice comfortable seat and a nice ICE cold drink (so you're not drinking the warm water you've been carrying around). The tour is NOT rushed at all which I enjoyed A LOT. You can also shop during the tour stops too, which many food tours don't allow. The duration of my tour was from 11am to 2:45pm. I recommend keeping your schedule for the entire day open so that you don't feel rushed to get somewhere else. I would definitely recommend this tour to my friends!
