The atmosphere is trendy, modern, cool - with white walls and white furniture, you feel like you're in some sort of prototype BMW dealership. The menu is seasonal and decidedly upscale in presentation. You're not going to break the bank with your order, but the M1 Cafe is a definite step up from the cafeteria options across the street at BMW Welt. At lunchtimes on weekdays, it appears that a lot of the tables are reserved for BMW higher ups in their suits and pantsuits, but if you can snag a table, the food options aren't bad for what is essentially a museum restaurant. A variety of cakes and pastries sit at the far end of the bar as dessert options. Pleasant interior and exterior seating. Solid food. Surprisingly decent prices. Definitely not a bad place to grab a meal while visiting the Welt.

But the menu felt unique and interesting enough to visit. I got the Apple Almond Affair - stacks of pancakes, roasted apples and almonds - interlaced with vanilla cream, whipped cream and a side of vanilla ice cream. The Palm Beach - a coconut infused chia pudding with fruit. And - the Hermosa Beach - hash browns topped with mushrooms, onions, egg, bacon and cheese. Additionally - coffee! I was very satisfied with all the flavors - as I mentioned - better than California actually offers. The apple pancake dish was decadent but not over the top intensely rich as one may expect it to be. The hash brown dish was super flavorful and pleasantly presented, with fried eggs perfectly adorning the stack. And the chia pudding was also delicious (covered in bananas - which I removed for myself but were eaten by my companion). Currents and other fruit was atop this dish - a lovely flavorful pudding. Service was outstanding, welcoming. Seating - busy morning but no real wait. Cash only on this day due to network issues but that was ok. Just a very inviting space with lovely people and uniquely outstanding food. Must visit in Munich no matter where you are from!

The coffee was quite ordinary and lukewarm. I must admit I did not like the coffee here at all. We are so spoiled for choice for good coffee in the area. The menu is small but enough choices for lunch and breakfast. There is a daily specials board as well. I tried the chorizo omelette and it was ok. Without the chorizo this would have been a bland omelette. I also tried the Bircher muesli and I am afraid it was the worst Bircher muesli I have had since moving to Europe. It was tasteless and had soft overripe pear which tasted pretty ordinary. To be fair i would not rate the food more then 2.5 stars. The coffee would be a 1 star for me. Overall I would not rate it more than 2.5 but would be ok with a 3. In a suburb with so many great places for coffee and breakfast, I would have to be desperate to come back here again.
