Visiting Munich - seeing this place as a breakfast choice was fun - and honestly I wasn't initially enamored as I expect something like this to be a caricature of the real thing maybe. But the menu felt unique and interesting enough to visit. I got the Apple Almond Affair - stacks of pancakes, roasted apples and almonds - interlaced with vanilla cream, whipped cream and a side of vanilla ice cream. The Palm Beach - a coconut infused chia pudding with fruit. And - the Hermosa Beach - hash browns topped with mushrooms, onions, egg, bacon and cheese. Additionally - coffee! I was very satisfied with all the flavors - as I mentioned - better than California actually offers. The apple pancake dish was decadent but not over the top intensely rich as one may expect it to be. The hash brown dish was super flavorful and pleasantly presented, with fried eggs perfectly adorning the stack. And the chia pudding was also delicious (covered in bananas - which I removed for myself but were eaten by my companion). Currents and other fruit was atop this dish - a lovely flavorful pudding. Service was outstanding, welcoming. Seating - busy morning but no real wait. Cash only on this day due to network issues but that was ok. This doesn't make sense. The menu is overpriced for what turned out to be very mediocre food. I ordered the California Crispy Chicken, which was three stacked pancakes with a fried egg, bacon, and a piece of fried chicken, served with French fries. Sounds promising, right? NOPE. The chicken was dry and slightly burnt. The fried egg? Completely fell apart, ummm how does that even happen?! It somehow blended in with the pancake. Neither the chicken nor the egg had a pinch of seasoning. No salt, no flavor, NOTHING! Just dry and bland. The lettuce in between the pancakes was wilted and soggy. Gross! The pancakes... no condiments, no butter, no syrup, just dry stacks. I didn't even bother asking for ketchup for my fries because that's an American thing. As for the drink, I ordered a honey iced macchiato. The honey settled completely at the bottom and wasn't even mixed/blended in. My first sip was like drinking straight honey, overwhelmingly sweet! Terrible customer service!!! I am visiting from California and we were basically kicked out of the place with an excuse there is no table. There were many tables for two or three people, however, the waitress was extremely rude without even offering for us to wait to see if she can accommodate three people for a coffee just for 20 minutes. We were trying to get some coffee before we hop on the train. Her excuse was that she's expecting a large group of people to come in, but there were multiple tables throughout the café with two seats where we could've easily been seated. This is simply unacceptable to greet a tourist in town in such fashion. I hope the management of the café would read this review and take necessary measures to remedy the problem. The waitresses behavior towards us was extremely annoying and disturbing. I am American originally from Orange County , California so walking in I found a familiar vibe. I had fallen the day before in Paris and needed to find a dentist. After going to two offices that could not help, I needed to eat some breakfast before continuing. Because of my situation I needed something soft with no chewing. I was greeted by the kindest woman greeter who spoke English. She saw my banged up face and ushered me to a small table with a couch which she told me would be comfortable. I explained my need for soft food and she recommended porridge and helped me select what she thought was the best choice. It was wonderful! Very tasty, smooth and warm on that cold, wet morning. This cafe/diner happened to be attached to the hotel we stayed at in Munich. It gets a lot of walk in traffic right off the busy sidewalk for people grabbing coffee (espresso or cappuccino) and a pastry. However, they offer a Western-style breakfast menu that brought me in, as I am a devout carnivore and I need my protein. The kids were all very delighted with their selection of pancakes, and everything was very tasty. The main host, who may be the owner, is extremely pleasant and speaks very good English. The convenience to our hotel made it the no-brainer go-to for our several days stay in Munich, and the service and food quality was very good. But, it came with a hefty price tag. The dining space is set up to have an Americana ambience, complete with 90's R&B. It is very clean. It can get pleasantly noisy as the cafe fills with patrons, and seating is set up for smaller groups of 2 or 4.
