food is incredible and fantastic! They are always fast and the quality is superb. i've become a regular here specifically for the No. 1 for only $7.50 and it's amazing. Really loved their chicken over rice. Chicken was tender and flavorful and also a really good deal.

Though this spot is small, their food is quite delicious. Their fried chicken is crunchy, but juicy on the inside and it is made to order (piping hot). Got the chicken over rice. Thank god I got it when it was $2 deal day because it was disgusting and I threw all of it out. This is how I can describe it: Rice was fine but absolutely no flavor, lettuce tasted like it came out of a bag in a freezer. Chicken tasted like they took chicken out of the freezer, cooked it and then put it in a bin with water and then they plop it on top of the bowl. Did not taste fresh, texture was wayyyy off. Like eating play dough. I feel bad leaving this review because the people inside were so nice but absolutely never again. read more

The chicken and rice is cubed chicken, perfectly juicy served with a light sauce and a side of greens. The chicken sandwich is fried chicken also juicy with a great bun. Had takeout from them, and it was a mixed bag. They definitely have potential for honest, down-to-earth soul-food like chicken, but there's some flaws, too, that should be addressed. The Good: the chicken sandwich was put together quite expertly. I'm a big fan of chicken sandwiches and have tried most of the ones available in the area - this was probably the one that got it right the most. Great bun, perfectly toasted and warm, ideal amount of vegs (lettuce/tomato), and the signature Chick 2 Sauce was delicious and just the right amount. Similarly, the chicken rice had just the right amount of sauce in it/on it, and the homemade BBQ sauce was refreshingly different from the usual bottled fare but very tasty. The rice was unpretentious and straightforward, which is great to see. The Bad: one word - seasoning! If the kitchen reevaluates their use of salt, this food would be leagues better. Usually soul food tends to be very heavily seasoned, but this chicken was, quite frankly, so underseasoned it was almost bland. The potato salad, too, was severely lacking in seasoning. Another minor flaw: the chicken on the chicken sandwich had too much fat on it (not from the fry, which was beautifully done, but on the meat itself). If the fat is trimmed a bit from the meat, the succulence of the flesh (which was there, for sure) would not be marred by the greasy mouthfeel of the additional fat, and just finish a lot better. Looking forward to giving this a try again in the future, hopefully with some improvements. It doesn't take a lot to level this up to a local favorite! read more
