"In the clearing stands a boxer And a fighter by his trade…read moreAnd he carries the reminders Of every glove that laid him down" (Paul Simon) Nope. The namesake of the Archie Moore's chain IS NOT the famous boxer, Archie Moore. Instead, this Archie Moore was a restauranteur from 1890's New Haven. Today, there are five Archie Moore's restaurants named after THAT Archie Moore. Now that we cleared that up, let me tell you about the lunch three of us had at the Milford Archie Moore's. Quite simply, we had a blast! We were looking for a place that had a sports bar feel and would be televising the NY Giants-Green Bay Packers game. Well, that wasn't really an issue because most of the TVs at Archie's were broadcasting the game. Our dining room had one outlier of a TV that showed the Buffalo Bills- Tampa Bay Bucs game. I walked in at 12:30 and the dining room was not very crowded, but 45 minutes later every table was taken -a mix of small groups, couples, and families with children. That seems understandable when you take a look at Archie's menu, which is as broad and varied as one could possibly want. A visit to Archie's starts with the chicken wings they are famous for. There are nine flavors in six sizes of "with or without" bone varieties. After that, you'll be challenged to decide among their appetizers, nachos, sandwiches, grilled cheese, wraps, pizzas, burgers, salads, entrees, etc. Seriously, their menu would seem at home in a New Jersey or Long Island diner. We started off with a shared platter of ten boneless Garlic Parmesan wings ($14.99) and I have to say....they were amazing. Big meaty chunks of white meat with a crunchy coating and a delicious parmesan cheese dusted sauce. The three of us went with three burgers.... Well, sort of. My brother had a traditional burger with sweet potato French fries ($18.49), my nephew went with a special of the day- a double Smash Burger with fries ($17.50), and I had a Garden Salad ($10.50) with an added burger patty ($7.99). I have to point out that the burger added to my salad was a monster burger of "over a half pound of ground 100% premium beef". It was outstanding. Drinks were $6.95 for an Athletic NA beer and $5.75 for a Coors Light. Our server was a cheerful and helpful young lady named Sam who did a great job checking on us and filling the water glasses. There were plenty of leftovers at our table, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to Archie's. Lunch for three with two beers ran $88.21 after tax and before tip.

I have been wanting to try the viral Lobster Bomb at Stone Ridge for years, literally YEARS, and…read morelet me tell you... it was absolutely worth every single penny and the wait. If you're a lobster lover, this is your moment. Rich, buttery, packed with flavor, and indulgent in the best way. It's one of those dishes you think about long after you leave. All the way up until warming up the left overs. No regrets. Not one. For the kids, the steak medallions were such a good deal. Generous portion, cooked perfectly, and paired with really good fries (because yes, fry quality matters). Clean plate club status achieved. Now let's talk dressing. I am a dressing snob, and the green goddess? It was great. Fresh, herbaceous, creamy without being heavy. I would absolutely buy that by the bottle. Dessert sealed the deal. The brownie was that warm, ooey-gooey, stick-to-your-fork kind of brownie. Topped with yummy ice cream melting into all the chocolate goodness. Exactly what you want when you order a brownie. no dry edges, no disappointment. The decor is beautiful:warm, inviting, upscale but still comfortable. Service was great with genuine smiles. They checked in consistently without hovering, and shoutout to Ezekiel in the parking lot for such a kind welcome right from the start. First impressions matter, and they nailed it. I can only imagine how gorgeous this place must be on a summer night. We will absolutely be back to explore more of the menu. I'll get a photo of the front and patio next time!

The only reason I'm giving this a three is because the service is great!…read more I wanted to try this place in the opportunity came up when I went to go see Derek and the fun bags last Saturday night. Well, the lobster roll came with fries and coleslaw and I have to say the last roll was very bland and yes, there was a good amount on there. The role fell apart and I purposely didn't have them butter it because I knew that would happen but yet it still happens and I would never go back there for that lobster roll anyway as far as the fries they were tasteless. The only good thing was the coleslaw so for almost $100 for dinner including the tip it's a no for me. Also, the spritzer was $17. It didn't even have any booze in. It was like just drinking club soda.

While the food at GG's is usually outstanding, our experience yesterday was extremely…read moredisappointing. Before ordering, we informed our waitress that a member of our party has a severe shellfish allergy, including all shellfish and anchovies. Since she was new, I took extra time to clarify the allergy and discuss safe menu options. We determined that I could not order anything fried, including chicken cutlets, because the fryer is shared with shellfish items such as calamari and shrimp. Unfortunately, this is a challenge we often face when dining out. Given the limited options available, I ordered the ravioli with Sunday sauce. However, I became very sick that night. While I cannot say with certainty what happened, I suspect there may have been some form of cross-contamination in the kitchen, whether from gloves, utensils, or food handling procedures. What made the experience even worse was the interaction with the manager, Cindy. I found her to be rude, dismissive, and lacking the customer service skills expected in a hospitality setting. Rather than showing concern for a guest with a serious food allergy, her attitude left us feeling unwelcome and unvalued. Based on conversations with others, this behavior unfortunately does not seem to be an isolated incident. Between the apparent lack of allergy safeguards and the poor customer service we experienced, this visit has left us questioning whether we will return. Food allergies are not preferences; they are serious medical concerns that require careful attention and respect.
