Our business was taken care of which is the most important thing. The office is sort of hidden away. I used to work at an office in the same area and never saw the Social Security office.

I was told I would receive more food since I was pregnant but never did. Didn't cater to my dietary needs for health reasons. Didn't provide me with my medicine. There was no soap in at least two of the bathrooms I visited, and staff had no intention on ensuring there was soap in the bathroom in the medical area, of all places. I filed complaints and haven't received a response, other than one which said everything was fine. Have no doubt my baby and I would have starved had I been in jail any longer. Never committed a crime in my life. I was handcuffed behind my back by the Omaha Police Department while entering the jail despite NE State Statute and federal law stating that pregnant women should not be restrained in jails and prisons. The handcuffs hurt my wrists, leaving red marks on my wrists. Bear in mind I received a Presidential Volunteer Service Award from the White House for volunteering at the Douglas Co Correctional Facility in college... The staff member who walked me out said he didn't think I looked like I belonged in jail. He had worked there when I was in college decades ago. One of only a few people there who treated me with respect. Others yelled at me for getting a drink of water and another told me good luck once I entered the jail, saying I would need it.

They have the most amazing collection of public parks that I have ever seen and you will find some people cool sculptures here too. It separated from Iowa by the scenic Missouri River and you can easily cross state lines via a gorgeous pedestrian bridge. It is a pretty clean city and they are investing a lot of money into it and it shows. The city is the largest in the state of Nebraska and is home to the College World Series. The city is serviced by the electric ride share scooters which I took for a spin. They don't really have any professional sports teams. They do have Crieghton Bluejay college sports, a few soccer teams, minor league baseball and hockey teams, and an arena football team. The city is home to some major Fortune 500 companies including Berkshire Hathaway; one of the world's largest construction companies, Kiewit Corporation; insurance, Mutual of Omaha and Union Pacific Corporation. Some of Omaha's top attractions include: Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, First National's Spirit of Nebraska's Wilderness and Pioneer Courage Park, Gene Leahy Mall, Lewis and Clark Landing, Old Market, Heartland of America Park, the Henry Doorly Zoo and Charles Schwab Field, where the College World Series has been played since 2011. Do not sleep on Omaha. It is a pretty nice city to visit, with a lot to do.I was pleasantly surprised by what Omaha had going on. I experienced this and people all over the US are here for couple weeks. Good luck on getting a hotel near the ball park... reserve hotel early is all I can say. The people here are friendly and restaurants here have a unique atmosphere... a lot of old buildings but super nice inside. The views walking from downtown to the Old Market at night is beautiful. During the Winter it is super cold... plan some indoor activities. The airport flying into Omaha is super easy and doesn't take long to get through TSA on most days. Pretty small terminal. Omaha is home to some of the top 100 certified restaurants on the Good Food 100 List Omaha attraction is the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. Most people call him Bob. He's a 3,000-foot bridge floating over the Missouri River linking more than 150 miles of hiking and biking trails. The Reuben sandwich was invented in Omaha Omaha, or Swim City, USA, played host to the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials Four Fortune 500 Headquarters call Omaha home: Berkshire Hathaway (#3) - Warren Buffett's multinational holding company. ​Union Pacific Railroad (#141) - The largest U.S. rail network serving 23 Western states. I politely would walk away from the individuals and have nothing to do with them. The police would not answer the phone, not send the police, not tell them to leave me alone and never enforce the law or charge them. For my first time trying to work professionally with the OPD - very unprofessional and did not uphold the law. It was a waste of time. To honor, protect and serve - well, it doesn't work that way in Omaha apparently.

So, The US Government... I suppose, to be fair it is a well-intentioned bureaucracy. I don't believe that they ever set out to be "evil" no matter who is in charge of it. The problem is that you really can't please all of the people all of the time. Everytime something happens that we don't personally agree with we whine about how special interests are controling the government, while somehow overlooking that all special interest groups are essentially groups of like-minded citizens. Maybe democracy is the problem...Any time you get 51% of the people behind something it tends to happen, whether it is stupid or not. Two final points: 1. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. 2. The alternatives are all worse.
