They had him sort, count, repeat syllables, recognize patterns, identify various items/numbers/letters, and numerous other tasks to determine where he was developmentally and intellectually. WELL, he did amazing! What the facilitator and I were most surprised about was his letter recognition skills. So much so, that the woman asked me IF HE COULD READ! I know my son is a smart boy, but seeing him excel so far into the testing really blew all of us away! I just wanted to recognize and thank all of his teachers and the staff at KinderCare because, really, I owe it to everyone who has been teaching him and helping him learn more and more everyday. One is now in Kindergarten and has excelled in reading, writing and math skills which I credit to the amazing educators in Rockland. The teachers are devoted to the children in their care and the families that they serve. Each day is filled with lots of activities and areas for them to learn and develop. They communicate with me on a daily basis about my girls accomplishments as well as the areas that they need some more help with. They have become part of our family and we love them. Kerri, the Center Director communicates with us constantly about what's going on in the center, the fun activities that they have planned and anything else that is going on with my child. She greets each child with a warm welcome each day and always has a special story about my children to share with me letting me know that she sees each child as an individual. Both of them have flourished at Primrose. They have both made big circles of the best and kindest friends. Our kids come running out of class every afternoon full of excited stores about new things they learned, built, and thought about that day. This is a place where education is taken seriously, and a love of learning is inculcated. My son, a precocious preschooler, currently reads on a third grade-level. He devours books at home. It isn't just that he's a smart kid; the anonymized test results for his class show remarkably outsized improvement for all of his classmates from the beginning to the end of the year. There were some odd rules that we never knew when we originally enrolled e.g. The daycare is opened from 7am to 6pm but you are not supposed to exceed 9 hours of child care. If I had a concern and could reach her either in person or via phone, she was rude and unconcerned. While the classroom staff were sweet and kind, I did not get the feeling that they all loved their jobs despite having been there for many years. All I felt was burnout from the 'old timer' staff. The environment was old and always felt just a little bit dirty to me. My daughter would come home with fecal matter on her bottom b/c the staff felt that a 3 year old should wipe herself after a bowel movement (RIDICULOUS!) despite my multiple requests to have some assistance. Her clothes, hands and face were almost always dirty. I would not have used this daycare for an entire year, but the price was right and it was a convenience to my home and work. I read the other reviews and just had to comment. Think twice before sending a child to this daycare.

The Director and Assistant Director are very professional and accommodating to busy working parents. If we need to modify a drop-off or pick-up time, they always do what they can to make it work. The teachers are loving, patient and great educators - we can't believe how much our toddler has learned as a result of her experience at Bright Horizons. The facility is clean, new and unlike the vast majority of local daycare facilities we toured, and they have beautiful playgrounds for each of the different age groups.
